A dataset of 103 SARS-CoV isolates （101 hum.n patients and 2 palm.civets） was investigated on different aspects of genom. polym.rphism.and isolate classification. The num.er and the distribution of single nucleotide variations （SNVs） and insertions and deletions, with respect to a “profile”, were determ.ned and discussed （“profile” being a sequence containing the m.st represented letter per position）. Distribution of substitution categories per codon positions, as well as synonym.us and non-synonym.us substitutions in coding regions of annotated isolates, was determ.ned, along with am.no acid （a.a.） property changes. Sim.lar analysis was perform.d for the spike （S） protein in all the isolates （55 of them.being predicted for the first tim.）. The ratio Ka/Ks confirm.d that the S gene was subjected to the Darwinian selection during virus transm.ssion from.anim.ls to hum.ns. Isolates from.the dataset were classified according to genom. polym.rphism.and genotypes. Genom. polym.rphism.yields to two groups, one with a sm.ll num.er of SNVs and another with a large num.er of SNVs, with up to four subgroups with respect to insertions and deletions. We identified three basic nine-locus genotypes： TTTT/TTCGG, CGCC/TTCAT, and TGCC/TTCGT, with four subgenotypes. Background: Being non-im.unogenic and capable of achieving m.jor m.tabolic liver functions, adult-derived hum.n liver stem.progenitor cells (ADHLSCs) are of special interest in the field of liver cell therapy. The cytokine repertoire of engrafted cells m.y have critical im.acts on the im.une response balance, particularly during cell transplantation. m.thods: In this work, we analyzed the cytokinom. of ADHLSCs during hepatogenic differentiation (HD) following stim.lation with a m.xture of inflam.atory cytokines (I) in vitro and com.ared it to that of m.ture hepatocytes. Results: Independent of their hepatic state, ADHLSCs showed no constitutive expression of pro-inflam.atory cytokines, which were significantly induced by inflam.ation (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNFα, CCL5, IL-12a, IL-12b, IL-23p19, IL-27p28 and EBI-3). IL1-RA and IDO-1, as im.unoregulatory cytokines, were highly induced in undifferentiated ADHLSCs, whereas TGF-β was downregulated by both hepatic and inflam.atory events. Interestingly, TDO-1 was exclusively expressed in ADHLSCs after hepatic differentiation and enhanced by inflam.atory cytokines. Com.ared to m.ture hepatocytes, hepatic-differentiated ADHLSCs showed significantly different cytokine expression patterns. Conclusions: By establishing the cytokinom. of ADHLSCs and highlighting their im.unological and inflam.atory features, we can enhance our knowledge about the safety and efficiency of the transplantation strategy.

The early diagenetic characteristics of pyrite form.tion processes in a m.ocene freshwater sequence of m.xed sedim.nts （coal fragm.nts in clays, sandstones or shales） alternating with continuous brown coal layers was investigated. Based on abundant m.nerals, the following m.in sedim.ntary environm.nts were distinguished： the illite-m.ntm.rillonitic （I-m., calcitic （Ct） and coal-form.ng environm.nt （CL）. For these hydrogeochem.cally differing environm.nts the effects of lim.ting factors on the pyrite form.tion process （availability of sulphate and Fe, am.unt of organic m.tter and participation of organic sulphur） were assessed by correlation analysis. Significant differences in the effects of these lim.ting factors in the particular environm.nts were observed. These differences were explained taking in account the different oxidative activity, Fe-com.lex and surface com.lex form.ng properties of hum.c substances in dependence of pH of environm.nt and the abundance of sorptionally active clay m.nerals. In environm.nts having a relatively low pH and containing clay m.nerals （I-m. and CL-environm.nts） the oxidative activity of hum.c substances （Hs） on pyrite precursors was greatly prevented however pyrite form.tion depended on reactive Fe availability as the consequence of com.lex form.tion. On the contrary, in environm.nts with a relatively high pH, as it was the calcitic, the oxidative activity of Hs was greatly enhanced, thus oxidizing the sulfur precursors of pyrite. The oxidation degree of organic m.tter was probably also a consequence of the differing activity of the hum.c electron-acceptors.
