The foraging technique and prey-handling time of the black-necked stork(Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus)was stud-ied in Dudhwa National Park,India,from January 1996 to June *** habitat in which the storks foraged played an important role in selecting a particular technique to procure ***-necked storks mostly foraged using a tactile technique(>90%),but sometimes foraged *** the water level was estimated to be less than 60 cm,the storks foraged using tactile *** was no difference in the feeding techniques of male and female *** attempt rates varied between the sexes in summer(May)and during late winter(February)in *** search time for prey increased when the water level was high and fish were widely *** in water level resulted in concentration of fish in certain areas and this contributed to high fish-catching rates by black-necked *** had a higher success rate of fish capture than ***,females captured longer fish than ***-handling time increased in both sexes as fish length *** 4–6 cm long were most frequently taken by the foraging storks.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Cervical radiculopathy is a common complaint of middle to older patients at orthopedic outpatient clinics. As research has suggested that biochemical sensitizers make nerve roots susceptible to mechanical effects of a herniated mass, interleukin one and prostaglandins are commonly seen as involved in producing radiculopathy. Autologous conditioned serum (ACS) is derived by processing the patient''s blood to produce high concentrations of interleukin I receptor antagonists. This study evaluated the efficacy of ACS in patients with cervical radiculopathy who had failed conservative *** Forty patients with neck pain radiating into one upper limb for at least six weeks were randomized to receive either ACS or methylprednisolone (MPS). The subjects were assessed with a visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, the Neck Pain Disability Scale (NPDS) and the Neck Disability Index (NDI). Measurements were made at baseline, and then at three weeks, three months and six months after *** The mean, six-month improvement in VAS scores for patients receiving ACS was 73.2%, while that for those receiving MPS was 58.4%. Over the same timeframe, the mean NPDS score decreased in the ACS group by 73.76% and in the MPS group by 55.6%. The mean NDI scores decreased by 74.47% in the ACS group and by 52.8% in the MPS *** This study of patients with cervical radiculopathy found that epidural injections of autologous condition serum are at least as effective as steroid injections for reduction of pain and disability.

Objective:To determine the real-world effectiveness of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine in preventing severe disease and mortality due to ***:A case-case design was used to estimate the effect of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine on severe SARS-CoV-2 outcomes in individuals aged 40 years and ***(n=200)were COVID-19 patients admitted to intensive care unit(ICU)or who ***(n=223)were those with mild COVID-19,fit for home *** logistic regression model was used to estimate adjusted vaccine effectiveness for full vaccination(two doses≥14 d)and partial vaccination status(one dose≥14 d or two doses<14 d).Results:The proportion of fully vaccinated individuals was significantly lower among cases(12,6.0%)compared to controls(30,13.5%).The adjusted effectiveness of a full dose of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine in preventing ICU admission or death was 81.9%(95%CI:61.3%-91.6%,P=0.001).Subgroup analysis restricted to age group,sex,and comorbidities found that ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine had a significant positive effect in all subgroups and ***:COVID-19 vaccination reduces ICU admissions or ***,increased vaccine uptake may reduce the severity of the pandemic,more so in the elderly and those with comorbidities.

Due to an increasing environmental pollution, a search for the cost effective treatment and disposal of the dyes from the textile effluents is getting more and more importance. Oxidation and reduction processes play important roles in the degradation treatments of the azo dyes. The latter process is more effective and in consequence its mechanism is also better understood. The mechanism of the oxidation processes, the intermediates involved in these reactions and their role in the effectiveness of the oxidative degradation of the azo dyes, viz, phenyl azo b-naphthol (PAN), Sudan I. On exposure to sunlight at 2 1/2 hours for various samples in different concentrations of PAN mixed with Fenton reagent, when the reactive intermediate?reacted with the colour, the pH vs. absorbance generally showed significant degradation in between pH 5 and 6. The results were compared with the same samples on exposure to uv-light of 254 nm and irradiated at 20 minutes. The degradation occurred in samples of relatively high concentrations, viz, 10-3 and 5 × 10-4 mol· dm-3 at near neutral pH 6 whereas. Low concentration samples such as 10-4 and 5 × 10-5 mol·dm-3 showed degradation towards more acidic range of pH 2 to 4. In advanced oxidation process (AOP), generally reactive, strongly oxidizing ·OH radicals play a main role in destruction of the dye molecules. The proposed mechanisms and the rate coefficients for the reactions of ·OH intermediates with the dye molecules and with model compounds are summarized.

We investigate the existence of Ion-Acoustic solitary/shock waves in a five component cometary plasma consisting of positively and negatively charged oxygen ions, kappa described hydrogen ions, hot electrons and cold electrons. The KPB equation is derived for the system;its solution is plotted for different kappa values, as well as for the temperature ratios of ions. It is found that the amplitude of solitary structure increases with increasing kappa values and negatively charged oxygen ion densities. As the temperature of the positively charged oxygen ions increases, the amplitude of solitary wave also increases. We have also studied the dependence of coefficients of the KPB equation on physical parameters relevant to comet Halley.

Dynamics of transmission of COVID-19 cases and household contacts:A prospective cohort study

Objective:To study the transmission dynamics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)among 101 confirmed cases and their 387 household contacts and to determine risk factors associated with secondary attack among the household ***:A prospective cohort study was conducted from January 1st 2021 to February 28th 2021,among 101 SARS-CoV-2 cases and 387 household contacts who were followed up for 14 days from the last day of contact with the index case of *** dynamics of disease transmission was estimated,and factors affecting transmission risk were ***,the association between various factors and household secondary attack rate was ***:The median incubation period was found to be 5 days,and the observed reproductive number(R)was found to be 1.63(95%CI:1.28-1.98).The mean household secondary attack rate was 40.7%.Contacts with comorbidities like diabetes mellitus,hypertension,dyslipidemia,and hypothyroidism had significantly higher attack rates(P<0.05).Conclusions:As new variants of SARS-CoV-2 emerges,it is crucial to know the trasmission *** study shows a high secondary attack rate of COVID-19 among household contacts that must be closely monitored.

怒江：一次偶然的发现2014年的8月18日，怒江河谷里正值炎炎夏日，云南省怒江州泸水县六库镇石缸河村的青年冯清礼骑着摩托回家时，刚好路过自家村前的一条山沟，看见一个来自广西的矿工抓着一只自己从来没有见过的大鸟。平时冯清礼也爱好饲养些小动物，又觉得这只大鸟颇为新奇，于是和这名工人协商，花了数百元把这只大鸟买了过来。因为村里有人被聘为泸水县林业局的护林员，并给村民做过自然保护的宣教工作，使得冯清礼对野生动物保护的事情有一些意识。
