The role of the temperate mixed broadleaf-Korean pine forest(BKF)in global biogeochemical cycles will depend on how the tree species community responds to climate;however,species-specific responses and vulner-abilities of common trees in BKF to extreme climates are poorly *** we used dendrochronological meth-ods to assess radial growth of seven main tree species(Pinus koraiensis,Picea jezoensis,Abies nephrolepis,Fraxinus mandshurica,Phellodendron amurense,Quercus mongolica,and Ulmus davidiana)in an old-growth BKF in response to climate changes in the Xiaoxing’an Mountains and to improve predictions of changes in the tree species *** in most months and winter precipita-tion significantly negatively affected growth of *** and ***,but positively impacted growth of *** and the broadleaf species,especially ***-rica and *** and relative humidity in June significantly positively impacted the growth of most tree *** positive effect of the temperature during the previous non-growing season(PNG)on growth of *** and *** strengthened significantly with rapid warming around 1981,while the impact of PNG temperature on the growth of *** and *** changed from significantly negative to weakly negative or positive at this *** negative response of radial growth of *** and *** to precipitation during the growing season gradually weakened,and the negative response to PNG precipitation was *** the studied species,*** was the most resistant to drought,and *** recovered the best after extreme *** davidiana,*** and *** were more resistant to extreme cold than the other *** warming generally exacerbated the opposite growth patterns of conifer(decline)and broadleaf(increase)*** broadleaf tree species in the old-growth BKF probably will gradually become dominan

Optimizing near-carbon-free nuclear energy systems:advances in reactor operation digital twin through hybrid machine learning algorithms for parameter identification and state estimation

Accurate and efficient online parameter identification and state estimation are crucial for leveraging digital twin simulations to optimize the operation of near-carbon-free nuclear energy *** previous studies,we developed a reactor operation digital twin(RODT).However,non-differentiabilities and discontinuities arise when employing machine learning-based surrogate forward models,challenging traditional gradient-based inverse methods and their *** study investigated deterministic and metaheuristic algorithms and developed hybrid algorithms to address these *** efficient modular RODT software framework that incorporates these methods into its post-evaluation module is presented for comprehensive *** methods were rigorously assessed based on convergence profiles,stability with respect to noise,and computational *** numerical results show that the hybrid KNNLHS algorithm excels in real-time online applications,balancing accuracy and efficiency with a prediction error rate of only 1%and processing times of less than 0.1 ***,algorithms such as FSA,DE,and ADE,although slightly slower(approximately 1 s),demonstrated higher accuracy with a 0.3%relative L_2 error,which advances RODT methodologies to harness machine learning and system modeling for improved reactor monitoring,systematic diagnosis of off-normal events,and lifetime management *** developed modular software and novel optimization methods presented offer pathways to realize the full potential of RODT for transforming energy engineering practices.

Estimation of tunnel axial orientation in the interlayered rock mass using a comprehensive algorithm

The axial selection of tunnels constructed in the interlayered soft-hard rock mass affects the stability and safety during *** optimization is primarily based on experience or comparison and selection of alternative values under specific geological *** this work,an intelligent optimization framework has been proposed by combining numerical analysis,machine learning(ML)and optimization *** automatic and intelligent numerical analysis process was proposed and coded to reduce redundant manual *** conventional optimization algorithm was developed from two aspects and applied to the hyperparameters estimation of the support vector machine(SVM)model and the axial orientation optimization of the ***,the comprehensive framework was applied to a numerical case study,and the results were compared with those of other *** results of this study indicate that the determination coefficients between the predicted and the numerical stability evaluation indices(STIs)on the training and testing datasets are 0.998 and 0.997,*** a given geological condition,the STI that changes with the axial orientation shows the trend of first decreasing and then increasing,and the optimal tunnel axial orientation is estimated to be 87.This method provides an alternative and quick approach to the overall design of the tunnels.

Role of Vickers ligament in the Pathogenesis of Madelung Deformity

Objective The Vickers ligament is thought to hinder the growth of palmar ulnar radius by tethering the lunate to the radius,leading to Madelung *** purpose of this study was to clarify the nature of the Vickers ligament and investigate its pathogenesis in Madelung deformities based on our observation of the Vickers *** All 22 patients(33 wrists)with Madelung deformities treated surgically between 2018 and 2022 were *** diagnosis was confirmed radiographically in all *** three-dimensional computed tomography(3D-CT)data of 16 patients(19 wrists)were *** resonance imaging(MRI)data were available for 9 patients(14 wrists).Wrist arthroscopy was used in 4 *** Vickers ligament was resected and submitted for histopathological examination in 8 *** outcomes,3D-CT,MRI,arthroscopy,surgical findings,and histopathology of the Vickers ligament were *** The 3D-CT revealed that the Vickers ligament originated in the metaphysis and formed a metaphyseal defect at the palmar ulnar *** the sequential MR coronal images,the Vickers ligament could be divided into 3 branches,extending to the lunate,triquetrum and ulnar *** and surgical findings revealed that the nature of the Vickers ligament was the stretched palmar ligament of the *** histopathology results revealed ligamentous tissue and fibrocartilaginous metaplasia with a structure similar to that of the triangular fibrocartilage complex(TFCC).Conclusions The Vickers ligament is not a separate aberrant *** nature of the Vickers ligament is a combination of the stretched TFCC ligament(palmar radioulnar ligament,ulnotriquetral ligament and ulnolunate ligament)and radiolunate *** possible pathogenesis of Madelung deformity might be focal early epiphyseal closure at the middle part of the sigmoid notch,which leads to focal growth retardation of the radius and pulls palmar ligaments proximally to for

Leaching behavior and microstructure of phosphorus in converter slag

Converter slag is a by-product of the steelmaking process and contains a large amount of Ca,Fe,P and other *** the phosphorus in the converter slag can be effectively extracted,the resulting phosphorus can be used as a phosphate *** in converter slag is mainly enriched in 2CaO·SiO_(2)-3CaO·P_(2)O_(5)(C_(2)S-C_(3)P)solid solution and is easily dissolved in ***,acid leaching method was used to dissolve the solid solution to extract phosphorus in converter slag,so as to realize the recycling of phosphorus resources in converter *** leaching behavior of three actual converter slags from different steel mills in acid leaching solutions composed of citric acid,sodium hydroxide,hydrochloric acid and deionized water was studied by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive spectrometry,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy to reveal the change in object image structure as well as SiO_(4) and PO_(4) tetrahedron before and after acid *** results show that only a small amount of phosphorus in converter slag with too low basicity is enriched in C_(2)S-C_(3)P solid solution,resulting in poor leaching *** the converter slag has a high basicity,the removal effect of phosphorus is 70.64%-81.88%.In addition,when the basicity of converter slag is roughly the same,the dephosphorization effect of slag with high FeO content is relatively *** acid leaching will cause depolymerization behavior of SiO_(4) and PO_(4) tetrahedron,so that the mole fraction of Q0(Si)(asymmetric stretching vibration of Si-O bond in SiO_(4) tetrahedron with bridge oxygen number of 0)and NBO/Si(non-bridging oxygen in silicate tetrahedra)will ***-containing solids can be obtained from the solution after acid leaching through static precipitation,and the solids have the potential to make phosphate fertilizers.

Interface Engineering of Titanium Nitride Nanotube Composites for Excellent Microwave Absorption at Elevated Temperature

Currently,the microwave absorbers usually suffer dreadful electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)performance damping at elevated temperature due to impedance mismatching induced by increased conduction ***,the development of high-performance EMWA materials with good impedance matching and strong loss ability in wide temperature spectrum has emerged as a top ***,due to the high melting point,good electrical conductivity,excellent environmental stability,EM coupling effect,and abundant interfaces of titanium nitride(TiN)nanotubes,they were designed based on the controlling kinetic diffusion procedure and Ostwald ripening *** from boosted heterogeneous interfaces between TiN nanotubes and polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS),enhanced polarization loss relaxations were created,which could not only improve the depletion efficiency of EMWA,but also contribute to the optimized impedance matching at elevated ***,the TiN nanotubes/PDMS composite showed excellent EMWA performances at varied temperature(298-573 K),while achieved an effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)value of 3.23 GHz and a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−44.15 dB at 423 *** study not only clarifies the relationship between dielectric loss capacity(conduction loss and polarization loss)and temperature,but also breaks new ground for EM absorbers in wide temperature spectrum based on interface engineering.

High-pressure balloon dilation for male anterior urethral stricture:single-center experience

Objectives： We retrospectively reviewed the urethral stricture cases treated in our tertiary center, and assessed the safety and feasibility of the high-pressure balloon dilation （HPBD） technique for anterior urethral stricture Methods： From January 2009 to December 2012, a total of 31 patients with anterior urethral strictures underwent HPBD at our center, while another 25 cases were treated by direct vision internal urethrotomy （DVIU）. Patient de- mographics, stricture characteristics, surgical techniques, and operative outcomes were assessed and compared between the two groups. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was applied to evaluate the stricture-free rate for the two surgical techniques. Results： The operation time was much shorter for the HPBD procedure than for the DVIU （（13.19±2.68） min vs. （18.44±3.29） min, P〈0.01）. For the HPBD group, the major postoperative complications as urethral bleeding and urinary tract infection （UTI） were less frequently encountered than those in DVIU （urethral bleeding： 2/31 vs. 8/25, P=0.017; UTI： 1/31 vs. 6/25 P=0.037）. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that there was no significant difference in stricture-free rate at 36 months between the two groups （P=-0.21, hazard ratio （HR）=0.65, 95% confidence interval （CI）： 0.34 to 1.26）. However, there was a significantly higher stricture-free survival in the HPBD group at 12 months （P=-0.02, HR=0.35, 95% CI： 0.14 to 0.87）, which indicated that the stricture recurrence could be delayed by using the HPBD technique. Conclusions： HPBD was effective and safe and it could be considered as an alternative treatment modality for anterior urethral stricture disease.

The design of universal segments and deviation control of segment assembly are essential for robust and low-risk tunnel construction.A building information modeling(BIM)-based framework was proposed for parametric modeling,automatic assembly,and deviation control of universal ***,segment models of different levels of detail(LoDs)were built based on BIM visual programming language(VPL)for different project life ***,the geometric constraints,requirements,and procedures for parametric segment assembly were distilled to develop a program that combines a novel typesetting algorithm with a 3D path replanning *** is implemented by introducing a point indication matrix,characterizing segments by sides,and manipulating geometries in a ***,3D path replanning,with non-uniform rational B-splines(NURBS)and arcs as basic shapes,was used to resolve unacceptable deviation situations after ***,the proposed framework was validated on a water diversion line and was found to be more effective and accurate than the previous method.
