Objective Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is closely related to obesity, insulin resistance and inflammation. Secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFRP5) is a recently discovered adipokine. It is involved in insulin resistance and inflammation in obesity. This study aimed at evaluating the association between SFRP5and sleeping characteristics as well as biochemical parameters of OSA patients.Methods This was a prospective case control study. Nondiabetic OSA patients and controls were consecutively recruited and divided into three groups: OSA group, apnea–hypopnea Index (AHI)≥5/h; healthy controls with normal body mass index (BMI); obese controls without OSA, and BMI > 24.0 kg/m2. All participants underwent polysomnography (PSG). Plasma SFRP5 was examined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Blood biochemical examinations, including fasting blood glucose (FBG), lipid profile, hypersensitive Creactive protein (hsCRP), were performed early in the morning after PSG. Patients with severe OSA were treated with nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP), and plasma SFRP5 was repeatedly measured for comparison.Results Sixty-eight subjects were enrolled in the study, including 38 patients of OSA, whose medium AHI was 58.70 /h (36.63, 71.15), 20 obese controls, and 10 healthy controls. The plasma SFRP5 level of OSA patients was not significantly different from that of healthy controls or obese controls. In OSA patients, SFRP5 level correlated positively with triglyceride level (r=0.447, P=0.005) and negatively with LDL-cholesterol level and HDLcholesterol level (r=?0.472 and P=0.003; r=?0.478 and P=0.002; respectively). SFRP5 level was not found correlating with FBG, AHI, or any of nocturnal hypoxia parameters. After overnight nCPAP treatment, plasma SFRP5 levels of OSA patients did not change significantly (t=1.557, P = 0.148) compared to that of pretreatment.Conclusions In nondiabetic OSA patients, plasma SFRP5 is associated with the lipid profile. The development of lithium-sulfur(Li-S) battery as one of the most attractive energy storage systems among lithium metal batteries is seriously hindered by low sulfur utilization, poor cycle stability and uneven redeposition of Li anode. It is necessary to propose strategies to address the problems as well as improve the electrochemical performance. One of the effective solutions is to improve the sulfiphilicity of sulfur cathode and the lithiophilicity of the Li anode. Herein, we reported that a synergistic functional separator(graphene quantum dots(GQDs)-polyacrylonitrile(PAN) @polypropylene(PP) separator)improved the electrochemical activity of sulfur cathode as well as the stability of Li anode. GQDs induced uniform Li^(+)nucleation and deposition, which slowed down the passivation of Li anode and avoided shortcircuit. Further, three-dimensional network constructed by electrospinning nanofibers and the polar functional groups of GQDs could both effectively inhibit the shuttle of LiPSs and improve the sulfur utilization. The stability of Li-S battery was improved by the synergistic effect. In addition, GQDs and electrospinning nanofibers protector increased lifetime of separators. Benefiting from the unique design strategy, Li//Li symmetric battery with GQDs-PAN@PP separators exhibited stably cycling for over 600 h. More importantly, the Li-S full batteries based GQDs-PAN@PP separators enabled high stability and desirable sulfur electrochemistry, including high reversibility of 558.09 mA h g^(-1)for 200 cycles and durable life with a low fading rate of 0.075% per cycle after 500 cycles at 0.5 C. Moreover, an impressive areal capacity of 3.23 mA h cm^(-2)was maintained under high sulfur loading of 5.10 mg cm^(-2). This work provides a new insight for modification separator to improve the electrochemical performance of Li-S/Li metal batteries.

The outcomes of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection are closely related to the age at which infection was acquired. Infection acquired in adult life tends to be selflimited, in contrast to perinatal acquirement, for which chronic persistence of the HBV is a general outcome. Innate immunity plays an indispensable role in early virus infection, facilitating virus clearance. However, it has been reported that HBV is under-recognized and poorly eliminated by the innate immune system in the early stages of infection, possibly explaining the long-lasting persistence of viremia afterwards. Furthermore, due to the existence of covalently closed circular DNA, chronic HBV clearance is very difficult, even when patients are given interferon-α and nucleotide/nucleoside analogs for antiviral therapy. The mechanism by which HBV evades innate immune recognition and establishes persistent infection remains a subject of debate. Besides, some researchers are becoming more interested in how to eradicate chronic HBV infection by restoring or boosting innate immunity. This review aimed to summarize the current knowledge on how intrahepatocyte signaling pathways and innate immune cells act after the onset of HBV infection and how these actions are related to the persistence of HBV. We anticipate the insights presented herein to be helpful for future development of novel immune therapeutic strategies to fight HBV infection.

AIM To evaluate indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase 1/cyclooxygenase 2(IDO1/COX2) expression as an independent prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer(CRC) patients.METHODS We retrospectively studied the medical records of 95 patients who received surgical resection from August 2008 to January 2010. All patients were randomly assigned to adjuvant treatment with or without celecoxib groups after surgery. We performed standard immunohistochemistry to assess the expression levels of IDO1/COX2 and evaluated the correlation of IDO1/COX2 with clinicopathological factors and overall survival(OS) outcomes.RESULTS The expression of nuclear IDO1 was significantly correlated with body mass index(P < 0.001), and IDO1 expression displayed no association with sex, age, tumor differentiation, T stage, N stage, carcinoembryonic antigen, cancer antigen 19-9, CD3+ and CD8+ tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, and COX2. In univariate analysis, we found that nuclear IDO1(P = 0.039), nuclear/cytoplasmic IDO1 [hazard ratio(HR) = 2.044, 95% confidence interval(CI): 0.871-4.798, P = 0.039], nuclear IDO1/COX2(HR = 3.048, 95%CI: 0.868-10.7, P = 0.0049) and cytoplasmic IDO1/COX2(HR = 2.109, 95%CI: 0.976-4.558, P = 0.022) all yielded significantly poor OS outcomes. Nuclear IDO1(P = 0.041), nuclear/cytoplasmic IDO1(HR = 3.023, 95%CI: 0.585-15.61, P = 0.041) and cytoplasmic IDO1/COX2(HR = 2.740, 95%CI: 0.764-9.831, P = 0.038) have significantly poor OS outcomes for the CRC celecoxib subgroup. In our multivariate Cox model, high coexpression of cytoplasmic IDO1/COX2 was found to be an independent predictor of poor outcome in CRC(HR = 2.218, 95%CI: 1.011-4.48, P = 0.047) and celecoxib subgroup patients(HR = 3.210, 95%CI: 1.074-9.590, P = 0.037).CONCLUSION Our results showed that cytoplasmic IDO1/COX2 coexpression could be used as an independent poor predictor for OS in CRC.

AIM:To determine the effects of duodenogastric juice pH on the development of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC).METHODS:An animal model of duodenogastroesophageal reflux was established using Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats undergoing esophagoduodenostomy (ED).The development of EAC was investigated in rats exposed to duodenogastric juice of different pH.The rats were divided into three groups:low-pH group (group A),highpH group (group B) and a sham-operated group as a control (group C) (n=30 rats in each group).The incidence of esophagitis,Barrett's esophagus (BE),intestinal metaplasia with dysplasia and EAC was observed 40 wk after the treatment.RESULTS:The incidence rate of esophagitis,BE,intestinal metaplasia with dysplasia and EAC was higher in groups A and B compared with the control group after 40 wk (P 0.05),88% and 82.4% (P > 0.05),20% and 52.1% (P < 0.05),and 8% and 39% (P < 0.05),respectively.CONCLUSION:Non-acidic refluxate increases the occurrence of intestinal metaplasia with dysplasia and EAC while the low-pH gastric juice exerts a protective effect in the presence of duodenal juice.The non-acid reflux is particularly important in the progression from BE to cancer.Therefore,control of duodenal reflux may be an important prophylaxis for EAC.

An alternative scheme is presented to generate arbitrary anticorrelated states of a two-mode field.In the scheme,a sequence of A-type three-level atoms are orderly sent across the cavity to interact with the cavity field initially in the two-mode vacuum state.The detection of all the atoms in the ground state collapses the two-mode field to the desired state.In this way,we can prepare the anticorrelated states of a two-mode field.

Critical-sized bone defects, commonly encountered in clinical orthopedic surgery, present a significant challenge. One of the promising solutions is to prepare synthetic bone substitute materials with precise structural control, mechanical compatibility, and enhanced osteogenic induction performance, nevertheless the successful preparation of such materials remains difficult. In this study, a two-step technique,integrating an extrusion-based printing process with biomimetic mineralization induced by alkaline phosphatase(ALP), was developed. Initially,a pre-cured hydrogel of regenerated silk fibroin(RSF) with a small quantity of hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC) and ALP was prepared through heating the mixed aqueous solution. This pre-cured hydrogel demonstrated thixotropic property and could be directly extruded into predetermined structures through a 3D-printer. Subsequently, the 3D-printed RSF-based materials with ALP underwent biomimetic in situ mineralization in calcium glycerophosphate(Ca-GP) mineralizing solution, utilizing the polymer chains of RSF as templates and ALP as a trigger for cleaving phosphate bonds of Ca-GP. The resulting 3D-printed RSF-mineral composites including hydrogel and sponge possessed adjustable compression modulus of megapascal grade and variable hydroxyapatite content, which could be controlled by manipulating the duration of the mineralization process.Moreover, these 3D-printed RSF-mineral composites demonstrated non-cytotoxicity towards rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Therefore, they may hold great potential for applications involving the replacement of tissues characterized by osteoinductivity and intricate structures.

Pulsed magneto-oscillation （PMO） as a new electromagnetic technology to generate the grain refinement in metals and alloys was significantly developed in recent years. The influence of electromagnetic parameters on the grain size reduction in pure AI was investigated under the application of PMO with a constant inputting power. The experimental results show that the grain refinement degree could be improved with the increase in the current intensity in the case of the identical power. Moreover, through analysing the electromagnetic force and resistance force applied on the nucleus, a criterion of the nucleus detached from the mould wall was constructed. Based on the criterion, the detachment of nuclei with finer radius could cause better effect of the grain refinement, when applying a higher current peak. The movement of the detached grains was considered by analysing the influence of electromagnetic force and forced flow.

可行驶区域检测旨在检测和提取智能车辆在道路上可行进的区域,目前主流的检测方法主要基于三维激光雷达的空间特征实现,难以处理路面边缘无清晰空间特征的非结构化道路.为此,本文提出了一种基于点云空间和反射强度融合的非结构化道路可行驶区域检测方法.首先,通过融合反射强度因子改进了基于空间特征的柱坐标系检测模型;然后,使用强度和降维空间检测对检测精度较低的环形检测模型进行优化,并将其与柱坐标系检测模型联合使用以提高方法检测准确率;最后,在自录实际道路数据集上进行对比实验.实验结果表明本文方法显著提高了非结构化道路可行驶区域检测的成功率与精确率,在结构化道路上也具有良好效果.
