Summary： TS （Turner syndrome） is a genetic disease which affects women caused by complete or partial absence of one of the X chromosomes. This condition is related to an increase in autoimmune diseases incidence like, IBD （inflammatory bowel disease）. Material and Methods： a case report of a 31 years old woman with T S hospitalized with two months of prostration, fever, rashes, nausea, vomit and diarrhea. Investigations have shown colonic mucosa inflammation, besides chronic colitis with cryptic microabscess in the anatomopathological evaluation, suggesting IBD as etiology. Treatment with mesalazine was effective in symptoms improvement. Conclusions： TS is a condition frequently associated with autoimmune diseases, including diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as IBDs. Recognition and early treatment of this condition leads to an improvement in the quality of life of these patients and reduces the chances of future complications.

ASTM A182 F51 duplex stainless steel with a 50:50 ratio of austenite to ferrite microstructure is a material used in mechanical *** uses include the manufacturing of equipment and components subject to acidification or acid stimulation for oil and gas *** acid stimulation or acidification,hydrochloric acid(HCl)solution with concentrations ranging from 5%to 28%(by volume)is injected into the limestone(CaCO3)and dolomite(CaCO3·MgCO3)reservoir rock to restore permeability and consequently increase oil well ***,it is important to use a corrosion inhibitor,such as propargyl alcohol,to prevent or inhibit the aggressive attack of HCl on duplex stainless *** present study evaluates the corrosion resistance of ASTM A182 F51 stainless steel using gravimetric(mass loss)and electrochemical(polarization)*** were completed with and without the addition of 500 and 1,000 mg/L propargyl alcohol in HCl solutions with concentrations of 10%and 15%(by volume)at temperatures of 25,40 and 55°*** good protection by propargyl alcohol of duplex steel immersed in HCl is observed.

Hemodynamic Fetal Response to Maternal Isometric Exercise in Pregnant Patients with Hypertension

Objective: to evaluate the maternal-fetal hemodynamic response with Doppler in pregnant women with chronic arterial hypertension and preeclampsia submitted to controlled isometric activity. Methods: experimental study comparing 50 healthy and 26 hypertensive and 24 preeclamptic pregnant women, from 26 to 36 weeks of gestational age, submitted to isometric contraction with handgrip dynamometer. Maternal hemodynamic parameters (systolic and diastolic blood pressure;heart rate;uterine arteries Doppler) and fetal (heart rate;umbilical artery, middle cerebral and venous duct Doppler) were evaluated before, during and post-isometry. Results: in preeclampsia were observed higher values of blood pressure and uterine artery indexes in all times;middle cerebral artery indexes in the pre and post-isometry;and of maternal heart rate post-isometry. In hypertensive women, systolic blood pressure is increased all the times, with indexes of the right uterine and middle cerebral arteries higher in pre-isometry;middle cerebral and umbilical arteries greater during isometry;and maternal heart rate and umbilical artery indexes bigger after isometry. Conclusion: blood pressure is higher in preeclamptic and hypertension women. The right uterine artery has more resistance in preeclampsia, with a significant decrease in pre to isometry in hypertensive and preeclamptic women;and increased in contraction to post-isometry in healthy and hypertensive women. The left uterine artery increases resistance post-isometry in all groups. The fetal hemodynamic parameters did not show significant differences when comparing the before, during and post-isometry.

Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from shrimp wastes and used to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous solutions and concentrate this rare earth element from phosphogypsum(PG).Chitin aerogel displays a specific surface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is 3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences its adsorption *** the adsorption in synthetic solutions,the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is strong for chitin powder *** contrast,no big pH influence was detected for chitin *** interactions and chelation can highlight the proposed mechanism of Y^(3+)on chitin adsorbents for the powder and ***,in addition to these interactions,pore filling/pore diffusion is the main mechanism of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is efficient in concentrating 8 times the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a secondary source of rare earth elements for other applications.

Background: Studies on physical activity during pregnancy and its impact on mother and fetus are still limited. International protocols consider only aerobic exercise and fail to provide information about other modalities such as isometric exercise. Isometric exercise promotes cardiorespiratory resistance and muscle strengthening, but it is rarely tested on pregnant women because it increases maternal blood pressure and can subsequently affect placental circulation. Objectives: To assess the fetal response by use of Doppler study in diabetes pregnant women submitted to isometric exercise. Methods: A cross-sectional experimental study was conducted on 25 diabetes pregnant women with gestational age between 26 and 36 weeks. The patients were submitted to isometric handgrip, and data were collected from the mother (blood pressure, heart rate and Doppler velocimetry for the uterine arteries) and from the fetus (heart rate, Doppler velocimetry for the umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery and ductus venosus). All variables were collected before, during and after the isometric handgrip. Results: There was a significant reduction in the pulsatilityindex (average values pre 0.77 ± 0.30, trans 0.65 ± 0.22, and post 0.75 ± 0.22, with p = 0.001), resistance index (average values pre 0.49 ± 0.12, trans 0.44 ± 0.10, and post 0.48 ± 0.90, with p =

In this paper, we combine polynomial functions, Generalized Estimating Equations, and bootstrap-based model selection to test for signatures of linear or nonlinear relationships between body surface temperature and ambient temperature in endotherms. Linearity or nonlinearity is associated with the absence or presence of cutaneous vasodilation and vasoconstriction, respectively. We obtained experimental data on body surface temperature variation from a mammalian model organism as a function of ambient temperature using infrared thermal imaging. The statistical framework of model estimation and selection successfully detected linear and nonlinear relationships between body surface temperature and ambient temperature for different body regions of the model organism. These results demonstrate that our statistical approach is instrumental to assess the complexity of thermoregulation in endotherms.

This study aimed to understand the use of low level laser in the regeneration of injured tissues. Also to design our own opinion on the subject, as chemists. Laser is nothing more than a light with very special characteristics that grant it therapeutic properties. We can observe the existence of three different types of laser, being one of them the therapeutic laser, which is used in substitution for medications or along with them. Another type of laser is the surgical one and, in addition to these, there is a diagnostic type. A great advantage is that, instead of taking the medicine, the patient’s own body can be activated by the laser to produce certain substances that can often replace the drugs. This is a literature review emphasizing the use of low level laser. Thus, the reflections from this study can contribute to the amplification of the production of knowledge that aims at the resignification of the use of laser in therapy. Greater attention was given to two types of laser radiation: He-Ne and As-Ga, both presenting a high therapeutic potential in superficial and deep injures. However, the He-Ne laser excels in superficial lesions, whereas the As-Ga laser does so in deep injures, such as articular, muscular, etc.

The generation of heliothermal electricity has received increasing attention throughout the world in countries such as Spain, the USA, Germany and many others. In Brazil, this type of energy generation in the form of large projects (above 80 MW) remains unexplored. However, it is known that in the country, there are extensive areas of normal direct irradiation with high intensity and a low seasonality factor, especially in the semiarid regions in Brazil, mainly the North and Northeast of Minas Gerais. Moreover, these Minas Gerais regions have other significant characteristics for the installation of these plants: proximity to transmission lines, flatness, the fact that the respective vegetation is not endangered, a suitable land use profile (availability of land not used in agriculture), low wind speed, low population density, and, most recently, an increase in the demand for local electric energy due to the economic growth above the Brazilian average rate. Furthermore, the introduction of solar plants in that region, due to its distributed nature, will bring development and growth to the region (normally poor) by generating employment and income. This article presents a study of the optimal location of thermoelectric plants in the semiarid regions of Minas Gerais, conducted with Geographical Information System (GIS) technology. GIS consists of a set of specialised resources that allow the manipulation of spatial data, bringing efficiency and agility in the identification of suitable places for the installation of solar plants, while simultaneously enabling the consideration of future scenarios for energy planning, with its respective impact, costs and benefits. The study has identified very promising solar irradiation levels for the electric generation by solar energy, whether thermoelectric or photovoltaic, reaching an annual solar irradiation of 2700 kWh/m2 in the summer and in the range of 2200 - 2400 kWh/m2 on an annual basis.
