Effect of organo-modified montmorillonite nanoclay on mechanical,thermal and ablation behavior of carbon fiber/phenolic resin composites

The mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of carbon phenolic(C-Ph)composites(Type-I)reinforced with different weight percentages of organo-modified montmorillonite(o-MMT)nanoclay have been studied *** milling was used to disperse different weight(wt)percentages(0,1,2,4,6 wt.%)of nanoclay into phenolic *** changes to resin due to nanoclay was *** the other hand,nanoclay added phenolic matrix composites(Type-II)were prepared to study the dispersion of nanoclay in phenolic matrix by small angle X-ray scattering and thermal stability changes to the matrix by thermogravimetric analyser(TGA).This data was used to understand the mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of Type-I *** laminar shear strength(ILSS),flexural strength and flexural modulus of Type I composites increased by about 29%,12%and 7%respectively at2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which these properties *** was attributed to reduced fiber volume fraction(%Vf)of Type-I composites due to nanoclay addition at such high *** ablation rate of Type-I composites was evaluated using oxy acetylene torch test at low heat flux(125 W/cm^(2))and high heat flux levels(500 W/cm^(2)).Mass ablation rates have increased at both flux levels marginally up to 2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which it has increased *** is in contrast to increased thermal stability observed for Type-I and Type-II composites up to 2 wt.%addition of *** ablation rates due to nanoclay addition was attributed to higher insulation efficiency of nanolcay,which accumulates more heat energy in limited area behind the ablation front and self-propagating ablation mechanisms triggered by thermal decomposition of organic part of nanoclay.

Automatic Speech Recognition(ASR)is the process of mapping an acoustic speech signal into a human readable text *** systems exploit the Acoustic Component of ASR using the Gaussian Mixture Model-Hidden Markov Model(GMM-HMM)*** NeuralNetwork(DNN)opens up new possibilities to overcome the shortcomings of conventional statistical *** studies modeled the acoustic component of ASR system using DNN in the so called hybrid DNN-HMM *** the context of activation functions used to model the non-linearity in DNN,Rectified Linear Units(ReLU)and maxout units are mostly used in ASR *** paper concentrates on the acoustic component of a hybrid DNN-HMM system by proposing an efficient activation function for the DNN *** by previous works,euclidean norm activation function is proposed to model the non-linearity of the DNN *** non-linearity is shown to belong to the family of Piecewise Linear(PWL)functions having distinct *** functions can capture deep hierarchical features of the *** relevance of the proposal is examined in depth both theoretically and *** performance of the developed ASR system is evaluated in terms of Phone Error Rate(PER)using TIMIT *** results achieve a relative increase in performance by using the proposed function over conventional activation functions.

Improved sliding-mode control for tracking global maximum power of triple-series-parallel ladder photovoltaic arrays under uneven shadowing

This paper presents an innovative way to enhance the performance of photovoltaic(PV)arrays under uneven shadowing *** study focuses on a triple-series–parallel ladder configuration to exploit the benefits of increased power generation while ad-dressing the challenges associated with uneven *** proposed methodology focuses on the implementation of improved sliding-mode control technique for efficient global maximum power point ***-mode control is known for its robustness in the presence of uncertainties and disturbances,making it suitable for dynamic and complex systems such as PV *** work employs a comprehensive simulation framework to comment on the performance of the suggested improved sliding-mode control strategy in uneven shadowing *** analysis has been done to show the better effectiveness of the suggested method than the traditional control *** results demonstrate a remarkable enhancement in the tracking accuracy of the global maximum power point,leading to enhanced energy-harvesting capabilities under challenging environmental ***,the proposed approach exhibits robustness and adaptability in mitigating the effect of shading on the PV array,thereby increasing overall system *** research contributes valuable insights into the development of advanced control strategies for PV arrays,particularly in the context of triple-series–parallel ladder configurations operating under uneven shadowing *** short narrow shading conditions,the improved sliding-mode control method tracks the maximum power better compared with perturb&observe at 20.68%,incremental-conductance at 68.78%,fuzzy incremental-conductance at 19.8%,and constant-velocity sliding-mode control at 1.25%.The improved sliding-mode control method has 60%less chattering than constant-velocity sliding-mode control under shading conditions.

Solar photovoltaic(PV)systems have gained importance as a promising renewable energy source in recent *** arrays are prone to variable irradiance levels under partial shading conditions due to non-uniform *** a result,there will be a decrease in the amount of power produced and hotspots will *** overcome these issues,it is essential to select an appropriate PV material and a suitable array *** obtain the maximum output power from a PV array under partial shading conditions,this paper suggests a novel triple-series–parallel ladder topology with monocrystalline PV *** short and wide,long and wide,short and narrow,long and narrow,middle and diagonal shading situations,a 6×6-sized array has been considered and compared with other existing configurations such as total cross-tied,bridge-link,honeycomb,series–parallel and series–parallel *** proposed configuration has an optimal number of cross ties to produce maximum *** has 4 cross ties fewer than a honeycomb,3 cross ties fewer than a bridge link,16 cross ties fewer than a total cross-tied and 7 cross ties fewer than series–parallel cross-tied *** proposed configuration has an improvement in power of 0.1%to 20%compared with other configurations under the considered shading scenarios.

Modeling of a long sand-pack for heavy crude oil through depletion tests utilizing methane gas

With the enormous increase in the demand for crude oil,and decrease in the resources of conventional oil reservoirs,there is a great need to understand heavy or foamy oil-gas drive mechanism to maximize the oil and gas *** analyze the real movement of non-viscous heavy oil flow,the characteristic features of the oil-gas mixture has to be estimated to forecast the future potential supply from a heavy oil *** important question in heavy oil flow under solution gas drive is whether the behaviour of depletion tests can be simulated to model the heavy oil flow *** main objective of this research is to develop a reliable numerical model for modelling heavy oil flow calibrated with controlled solution gas drive experiments,and that makes a novelty in this *** this paper,CMG-STARS model which is capable of simulating solution gas drive tests that matched the research *** heavy oil recovery model can determine the relative permeability curves for oil and gas in the dualphase system using Corey’s *** a depletion rate of 0.0418 psi/min,the maximum cumulative oil and gas production was observed to be 13,000 cm^(3)and 8500 cm^(3),*** results from the bottom hole pressure and the block pressure simulation runs indicate that the fluid properties such as surface tension plays a significant role in the gas bubble *** results are promising,and helps to understand the complex behaviour of heavy oil reservoirs and thus can improve heavy oil recovery.

ETP-AKEP: enhanced three-party authenticated key exchange protocols for data integrity in cloud environments

With key exchange protocols, a secure session key is generated between two remote users, andservers and exchanged between them. It is generally used to prevent unauthorised users fromgaining access to sensitive data. This article presents an enhanced three-party authenticated keyexchange protocols (ETP-AKE) protocol that does not depend on symmetric key encryption andinstead uses asymmetric key encryption. A key component of the proposed ETP-AKE protocol isusing elliptic curve encryption in conjunction with a one-way hash function. Its integrity certificationwas confirmed via the usage of the AVISPA tool package. Our proposed protocol is intendedto protect against various security threats, including the man-in-the-middle assault, the parallelattack, and the key-compromise attack, among others.

Implications for the lithospheric structure of Cambay rift zone,western India:Inferences from a magnetotelluric study

Broad-band and long-period magnetotelluric(MT)data were acquired along an east-west trending traverse of nearly 200 km across the Kachchh,Cambay rift basins,and Aravalli-Delhi fold belt(ADFB),western *** regional strike analysis of MT data indicated an approximate N59°E geoelectric strike direction under the traverse and it is in fair agreement with the predominant geological strike in the study *** decomposed transverse electric(TE)-and transverse magnetic(TM)-data modes were inverted using a nonlinear conjugate gradient algorithm to image the electrical lithospheric structure across the Cambay rift basin and its surrounding *** studies show a thick(~1-5 km)layer of conductive Tertiary-Mesozoic sediments beneath the Kachchh and Cambay rift *** resistive blocks indicate presence of basic/ultrabasic volcanic intrusives,depleted mantle lithosphere,and different Precambrian structural *** crustal conductor delineated within the ADFB indicates the presence of fluids within the fault zones,sulfide mineralization within polyphase metamorphic rocks,and/or Aravalli-Delhi sediments/*** observed conductive anomalies beneath the Cambay rift basin indicate the presence of basaltic underplating,volatile(CO2,H2 O)enriched melts and channelization of melt fractions/fluids into crustal depths that occurred due to plume-lithosphere *** variations in electrical resistivity observed across the profile indicate that the impact of Reunion plume on lithospheric structures of the Cambay rift basin is more dominant at western continental margin of India(WCMI)and thus support the hypothesis proposed by Campbell&Griffiths about the plume-lithosphere interactions.

A new and upcoming application is the use of 60 GHz antennas for high date rate point-to-point connections to serve Gigabit(Gi-Fi)w ireless *** design of M illimeter w ave(M m W)antennas has to cope w ith the unadorned influences of manufacturing tolerances and losses at 60 *** this paper,the concept of Substrate Integrated Waveguide(SIW)and Exponentially Tapered Slot(ETS)antenna w ere used together to design a high gain,efficient planar dielectric loaded antenna for M m W Gi-Fi w ireless communications at 60 *** SIW is used to feed the antenna and a dielectric is utilized in front of the antenna to increase the *** dielectric loaded ETS antenna and compact SIW feed w ere fabricated on a single substrate,resulting in low cost and easy *** antenna w ith elliptical shaped dielectric loaded w as fabricated using printed circuit board *** measured gain of the single element antenna is 10.2 dB,w hile the radiation efficiency of 96.84%is obtained at 60 *** Y-junction SIW pow er divider is used to form a 1×4 array structure.M easured gain of the 1×4 array antenna is 13.3 dB,w hile the measured radiation pattern and gain are almost constant w ithin the w ide bandw idth of the antenna.
