Hot compression deformation behavior of AISI 321 austenitic stainless steel

The hot compression behavior of AISI 321 ll00~C and the strain rates of 0.01-1 s-1 using a Baehr austenitic stainless steel was studied at the temperatures of 950- DIL-805 deformation dilatometer. The hot deformation equations and the relationship between hot deformation parameters were obtained. It is found that strain rate and deformation temperature significantly influence the flow stress behavior of the steel. The work hardening rate and the peak value of flow stress increase with the decrease of deformation temperature and the increase of strain rate. In addition, the activation energy of deformation （Q） is calculated as 433.343 kJ/mol. The microstructural evolution during deformation indicates that, at the temperature of 950~C and the strain rate of 0.01 s-1, small circle-like precipitates form along grain boundaries; but at the temperatures above 950~C, the dissolution of such precipitates occurs. Energy-dispersive X-ray analyses indicate that the precipitates are complex carbides of Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Ti.

Sunflower petal is one of the parts of the sunflower which has drawn attention and has several applications these *** applications justify getting information about physical properties,mechanical properties,drying trends,*** order to design new machines and use new methods to harvest or dry the sunflower *** three varieties of sunflower,picking force of petals was measured;number of petals of each head was counted;unit mass and 1000-unit mass of fresh petals were measured and length,width,and projected area of fresh petals were calculated based on image processing technique;frequency distributions of these parameters were modeled using statistical distribution models namely Gamma,Generalized Extreme Value(G.E.V),Lognormal,and *** of picking force showed that with increasing number of days after appearing the first petal on each head from 5 to 14 and decreasing loading rate from 150 gmin^-1 to 50 g min^-1 values of picking force were decreased for three varieties,but diameter of sunflower head had different effects on picking force for each ***,width,and number of petals of Dorsefid variety ranged from 38.52 to 95.44 mm,3.80 to 9.28mm and 29 to 89,*** corresponding values ranged from 34.19 to 88.18 mm,4.28 to 10.60 mm and 21 to 89,respectively for Shamshiri variety and ranged from 44.47 to 114.63 mm,7.03 to 20.31 mm and 29 to 89 for Sirena *** of frequency distribution modeling indicated that in most cases,G.E.V and Weibull distributions had better performance than other distributions.

Objective:To reveal the effects of 9-cis retinoic acid (RA) on cortical granules (CGs) migration andin vitro embryo production (IVP) rate in meiosisⅡvitrified bovine oocyte. Methods:Followingin vitro maturation (IVM) in a medium containing 5 nM of 9-cis-RA, 60 oocytes were vitrified and then thawed. Then, half of them were evaluated for CGs migration and the other half were used for in vitro fertilization and IVP (on day 3). In addition, the other 60 oocytes were considered as the control group, which did not receive RA in IVM medium. The data were presented to one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's ***:Results showed that IVP rate (4-8 cells embryos) was significantly (P<0.05) higher than the control group when RA had been added to IVM medium. Furthermore, the presence of RA in IVM medium improved the rate and mode of CGs migration so that the rate of oocytes that had completed CGs migration in the group, which had received RA, was significantly higher than the control ***:This study shows that presence of RA in IVM medium enhances the developmental competence and CGs distribution of meiosisⅡvitrified bovine oocyte. Therefore, adding RA in IVM medium can decrease the ultrastructural changes during vitrification and can improve the efficiency of bovine oocyte vitrification.

Background: Fast track surgery is an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach. The underlying principle is to enable patients to recover from surgery and leave the hospital sooner by minimizing the stress responses on the body during surgery. Our aim was to compare the outcome of fast-track protocol and conventional methods in colorectal surgery. Method: It was an observational cross-sectional study carried out at the Department of Surgery in different tertiary level hospitals, Dhaka Bangladesh during the period January 2014 to December 2017. Among this population, 50 patients were placed in the fast-track program (Group A) from January 2014 to December 2015 and 50 patients were in the conventional method (Group B), from January 2016 to December 2017. The fast-track patients were selected after receiving ethical approval from the Bangladesh College of Physician & Surgeons. Data analysis was done using the statistical package for social science (SPSS) for windows version 20. Results: The average age of the patients was 45.24 ± 16.65 years (range: 11 - 70 years) in the fast track group (Group A) and 43.24 ± 17.76 years in the conventional method (Group B). The majority were female between two groups, with 56% in group A and 52% in group B. General and surgical complications occurred in 9 (18%) patients and 11 (22%) patients respectively in group A. On the other hand in group B general and surgical complications occurred in 10 (20%) patients and 13 (26%) patients respectively. The average hospital stay was 9.24 ± 5.99 days in group A and the average hospital stay was 10.10 ± 6.04 days in group B. Conclusion: Making the decision to adopt fast-track surgery will challenge current traditional practice for all members of the multidisciplinary team across the whole local health community.

Vasodilator response to <i>Psidium guajave</i>leaves of mesenteric bed vessels from diabetic and non-diabetic rats

Mortality from cardiovascular abnormalities is almost three times more prevalent in the diabetic population than that in the general population. Psidium guajave has been used traditionally for a long time as a medicinal herb to cure diabetes. Endothelial dependent vasorelaxation effect of Psidium guajave extract on normal aortic rings was observed. This study was designed to investigate the endothelium and nitric oxide roles inPGE-induced vasorelaxation in diabetic rat vessel. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. Eight weeks later, superior mesenteric arteries of non-diabetic and diabetic groups were isolated and perfused according to the McGregor method. Prepared vascular beds were constricted with phenylephrine to induce 70% - 75% of maximal constriction. Psidium guajave extract at concentrations of 0.1 to 4 mg/100ml added to the medium and perfusion pressure was recorded. Baseline perfusion pressure of diabetic group was significantly higher than non-diabetic rats in both intact and denuded endothelium. Psidium guajave extract caused a significantly dose depended decrease in perfusion pressure in non-diabetic and diabetic groups in both intact and denuded endothelium. In the presence of N (ω)-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester, Psidium guajave ex-tractinduced relaxation in intact mesenteric beds of non-diabetic and diabetic animals was not suppressed. From the results of this study, it may be concluded that vasorelaxatory effect of Psidium guajave extract is not mediated by endothelium and nitric oxide in both diabetic and non-diabetic vessel and supports the use of the plant’s leaves as a natural, adjunct phytomedicine in the management of diabetes vessel complications.

Bangladesh experiences frequent hydro-climatic disasters such as *** disasters are believed to be associated with land use changes and climate ***,identifying the factors that lead to flooding is *** study mapped flood susceptibility in the northeast region of Bangladesh using Bayesian regularization back propagation(BRBP)neural network,classification and regression trees(CART),a statistical model(STM)using the evidence belief function(EBF),and their ensemble models(EMs)for three time periods(2000,2014,and 2017).The accuracy of machine learning algorithms(MLAs),STM,and EMs were assessed by considering the area under the curve—receiver operating characteristic(AUC-ROC).Evaluation of the accuracy levels of the aforementioned algorithms revealed that EM4(BRBP-CART-EBF)outperformed(AUC>90%)standalone and other ensemble models for the three time periods ***,this study investigated the relationships among land cover change(LCC),population growth(PG),road density(RD),and relative change of flooding(RCF)areas for the period between 2000 and *** results showed that areas with very high susceptibility to flooding increased by 19.72%between 2000 and 2017,while the PG rate increased by 51.68%over the same *** Pearson correlation coefficient for RCF and RD was calculated to be *** findings highlight the significant association between floods and causative *** study findings could be valuable to policymakers and resource managers as they can lead to improvements in flood management and reduction in flood damage and risks.

Influence of Bleaching Powder on the Quality of Giant Freshwater Prawn (<i>Macrobrachium rosenbergii</i>)

Calcium hypochlorite commercially known as bleaching powder is used as a bleaching agent in shrimp processing industries in many countries and known to effect biochemical alteration in shrimp muscle. Studies were, therefore, undertaken to determine their effect in different concentrations viz., 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ppm with different time intervals on the quality of head-on, headless shell-on and peeled giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) by determining biochemical and organoleptic aspects. Myofibrillar protein solubility of fresh head-on, headless shell-on and peeled samples were 90.5%, 90% and 88%, respectively indicating a gradual decrease in protein solubility with increasing concentration of bleaching powder. Decrease in protein solubility was also higher in samples kept at longer duration in different concentration of bleaching powder. At a given concentration of 50 ppm for 30 min treatment, the loss of myofibrillar protein was higher (26.14%) in peeled samples than those of head-on and headless shell-on samples (20.44% and 21.11%). Shelf life of bleaching powder treated prawn samples was found to be reduced to 4 - 5 days in iced condition compared to 6 - 7 days for control samples. Peeled samples were also found to be more susceptible to bleaching powder than that of head-on and headless shell-on samples.
