We demonstrate an adjustable pure dispersion slope compensating-module based on strain-chirped fiber Bragg gratings. The center wavelength of the module is preserved while the pure dispersion slope is tuned.

In densely.built-up Singapore,relatively.stiffsecant-bored piles and diaphragm walls are commonly.used in cut-and-cover work. to minimize the impact of ground movement on the adjacent structures and *** excavations in stiffresidual soil deposits,the asso-ciated wall deﬂections and ground settlements are generally.smaller than for excavations in soft soil ***,if the residual soil permeability.is high and the underly.ng rock.is highly.ssured or fractured,substantial groundwater drawdown and associated seepage-induced settlement may.*** this study.the excavation performance of four sites in residual soil deposits with maximum excavation depths between 20 and 24 m is *** maximum wall deﬂections were found to be relatively.small compared to the signiﬁcantly.larger maximum ground settlements,owing to the extensive lowering of the groundwater *** this paper,details of the subsurface conditions,excavation support sy.tem,ﬁeld instrumentation,and observed excavation responses are presented,with particular focus on the large groundwater drawdown and associated ground ***ﬁc issues encountered during the excavation,as well as the effectiveness of various groundwater control measures,are *** case studies will provide useful references and insights for future projects involving braced excavations in residual soil.

Aim： To examine the inter-relationships among age, lifesty.e factors, anthropometric parameters, percent body.fat and steroid hormone parameters in 531 healthy.Singaporean Chinese men aged between 29 and 72 y.ars old. Methods： Various lifesty.e parameters were quantified through a survey. and testosterone （T）, estradiol （E2）, dehy.roepiandrosterone sulphate （DHEAS） and sex hormone binding globulin （SHBG） were measured using established methods. Anthropometric parameters were collected and computed, and percent body.fat （Siri） was measured using the DEXA scanner. Results： SHBG, DHEAS, bioavailable-T （Bio-T）, E2, Siri, Ht, W/H, W/Ht and work.stress were independently.correlated with age. Using multivariate analy.es and adjusting for age and other related factors, exercise, smok.ng and alcohol consumption have positive impacts on androgen levels and body.composition. However, black.and green tea consumption was associated with negative effects on body.composition and with higher levels of E2 and Free Estradiol Index （FEI）. Men with shorter sleep duration had significantly.lower T levels as compared to those with 6 h or more of nightly.sleep. Higher T levels were associated with lower levels of adiposity.and other indices of adiposity. whereas higher E2 levels were related to higher levels of adiposity. Men with higher DHEAS were significantly.taller and heavier than those with low DHEAS levels. Conclusion： The study.showed the close interactions among the gonadal/adrenal and metabolic compartments, with age being a k.y.determinant in their interactions. Lifesty.e factors such as exercise, smok.ng, sleeping and alcohol and tea consumption might play.significantly.roles in determining the status of health in men.

Aim： To evaluate the impact of age and gender on lipid and lipoprotein profiles and the burden of dy.lipidemia in a cohort of healthy.Chinese Singaporean. Methods： A total of 1 775 healthy.Chinese, 536 men and 1 239 women aged between 30 and 70 y.ars old were involved in the present study. Results： Gender differences in all lipid and lipoprotein levels were clearly.evident. Singaporean Chinese men have significantly.higher levels of total cholesterol （TC）, trigly.eride （TG）, low density.lipoprotein-cholesterol （LDL-C） and total cholesterol/high density.lipoprotein-cholesterol （TC/HDL-C）, and lower levels of HDL-C than women. Although lipid and lipoprotein levels in men did not change in the different age groups, those in women, especially.TC, LDL-C and TC/HDL-C, were significantly.higher in older women （〉 50 y.ars old） than corresponding levels in y.unger women （30-46 y.ars old）. Furthermore, TG was significantly.correlated with lipids and lipoproteins differently.in men and women. If 100 mg/dL of LDL-C were to be adopted as the therapeutic cut-off level, then the burden of care will be huge as approximately.90% of both Chinese men and women have LDL-C greater than 100 mg/dL. Condusion： In light of the findings of the present study. we suggest that preventive measures to promote the reduction in risk.of coronary.heart disease （CHD） must address the high proportion of men and women with high LDL-C, and that these measures should tak. into account both the gender and age factors. For men, reduction of high cholesterol must start early.in life, whereas for women, steps must be tak.n earlier to mitigate the anticipated sharp increase in risk. especially.after menopause.

Lipid droplets （LDs） were once viewed as simple, inert lipid micelles. However, they.are now k.own to be organelles with a rich proteome involved in a my.iad of cellular processes. LDs are heterogeneous in nature with different sizes and compositions of phospholipids, neutral lipids and proteins. This review tak.s a focused look.at the roles of proteins involved in the regulation of LD formation, expansion, and morphology. The related proteins are summarized such as the fat-specific protein （Fsp27）, fat storage-inducing trans- membrane （FIT） proteins, seipin and ADP-ribosy.ation factor 1-coat protein complex I （Arf-COPI）. Finally. we present important challenges in LD biology.for a deeper understanding of this dy.amic organelle to be achieved.

Objective: Prostate cancers(PCa) in Asian individuals are molecularly.distinct from those found in their Caucasian *** is no risk.stratification tool for Asian men with rapid biochemical recurrence(BCR) following radical prostatectomy.Rad P). This study.aims to assess the detection rate of ^(68)Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography.computed tomography.PSMA-PET/CT) for diagnosis of clinical recurrence and as a treatment decision mak.ng tool in Asian patients with BCR post-Rad ***: ^(68)Ga PSMA-PET and CT body.with/without bone scan [conventional work.p(CWU)] were performed in 55 Asian patients with BCR within 36 months post-Rad P. Two blinded reviewers assessed the images. Detection rates of ^(68)Ga PSMAPET/CT were evaluated, and impact on management was reviewed by.comparison with ***: Median time to BCR post-Rad P was 8.1 months. Detection rate for ^(68)Ga PSMA-PET/CT was 80%(44/55). A positive scan was significantly.associated with increasing prostate-specific antigen(PSA) level [odds ratio(OR) = 1.13(95% CI 1.05–1.30), P =0.017], but not with higher Gleason grade or shorter PSA doubling time. Compared to CWU, ^(68)Ga PSMA-PET/CT detected an additional 106 lesions in 33/44 patients with a positive scan, resulting in a change in management in 25/44(56.8%) patients: 10 to hormonal therapy.HT) and whole pelvis radiotherapy.RT) in addition to bed RT, and 15 to palliative HT ***: In the present report, we demonstrated the diagnostic and treatment decision utility.of ^(68)Ga PSMA-PET/CT in Asian men with rapid BCR. Detection of small volume nodal and sy.temic recurrences at low PSA levels(y.etastatic disease.
