Nowadays, more and more users share real-time news and information in micro-blogging communities such as Twitter, Tumblr or Plurk. In these sites, information is shared via a followers/followees social network structure in which a follower will receive all the micro-blogs from the users he/she follows, named followees. With the increasing number of registered users in this kind of sites, finding relevant and reliable sources of information becomes essential. The reduced number of characters present in micro-posts along with the informal language commonly used in these sites make it difficult to apply standard content-based approaches to the problem of user recommendation. To address this problem, we propose an algorithm for recommending relevant users that explores the topology of the network considering different factors that allow us to identify users that can be considered good information sources. Experimental evaluation conducted with a group of users is reported, demonstrating the potential of the approach.

Many wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)production regions are threatened annually by drought *** isotope discrimination(Δ)has been identified as a potentially useful trait in breeding for improved drought tolerance in certain *** use ofΔas a selection criterion is limited,however,mainly due to an inconsistent relationship observed between grain yield andΔand,to a lesser extent,because of the high resource demand associated with *** efficiency of selection may be improved by the identification and verification of molecular markers for use in marker-assisted selection(MAS),and a reliable relationship to grain yield may be established based on a location’s total amount and distribution of precipitation over the growing *** the environmental variability in precipitation dynamics,it is necessary to evaluate this relationship in target breeding *** this study,grainΔwas collected on a panel of 480 advanced soft white winter wheat varieties grown in five Pacific Northwest environments.A genome-wide association study approach was used to evaluate the amenability of grainΔto *** genetic architecture of grainΔwas determined to be characterized by multiple,small effect marker-trait associations with limited repeatability across environments,suggesting that MAS will be ineffective at improvingΔselection ***,the relationship between grain yield andΔranged from neutral(r=‐001)to moderately positive(r=044)in the target *** moderate correlations,coupled with variability in this relationship,indicate that direct selection forΔmay not be beneficial.

In the era of information technology and big data,the extraction,commodification,and control of personal information is redefining how people relate and ***,the challenges that big data collection and analytics can introduce in trust-based societies,like those of Scandinavia,are not yet *** instance,in the energy sector,data generated through smart appliances,like smart metering devices,can have collateral implications for the *** this paper,we present a systematic review of scientific articles indexed in Scopus to identify possible relationships between the practices of collecting,processing,analysing,and using people’s data and people’s responses to such *** contextualise this by looking at research about Scandinavian societies and link this to the academic literature on big data and trust,big data and smart meters,data ethics and the energy sector,surveillance capitalism,and subsequently performing a reflexive thematic *** broadly situate our understanding of culture in this context on the interactions between cognitive norms,material culture,and energy *** analysis identified a number of articles discussing problems and solutions to do with the practices of surveillance *** also found that research addresses these challenges in different *** some research focuses on technological amendments to address users’privacy protection,only few examine the fundamental ethical questions that discuss how big data practices may change societies and increase their *** literature suggests that even in highly trusting societies,like the ones found in Scandinavian countries,trust can be undermined and weakened.

We solve the relativistic Dirac equation for the shutter problem. We prove that, at intermediate relativistic energies, the probability density oscillates in time in a similar way to the optical Fresnel oscillations in a straight edge. However, for extreme-relativistic beams, the Fresnel oscillations turn into quantum damped beats.

In the solution of the Klein-Gordon equation for the shutter problem, we prove that, at internuclear distances, a relativistic beam of Pi-mesons has a probability density which oscillates in time in a similar way to the spatial dependence in optical Fresnel diffraction from a straight edge. However, for an extreme-relativistic beam, the Fresnel oscillations turn into quantum damped beat oscillations. We prove that quantum beat oscillations are the consequence, at extreme-relativistic velocities, of the interference between the initial incident wave function, and the Green’s function in the relativistic shutter problem. This is a pure quantum relativistic phenomenon.
