The frequencies of free oscillations of plants,or plant parts,depend on their geometries,stiffnesses,and *** direct biomechanical interest,free frequencies also provide insights into plant properties that can usually only bemeasured destructively or with low-throughput techniques(e.g.,change inmass,tissue density,or stiffness over development or with stresses).We propose here a new high-throughput method based on the noncontact measurements of the free frequencies of the standing *** plant is excited by short air pulses(typically 100ms).The resulting motion is recorded by a high speed video camera(100 fps)and processed using fast space and time correlation *** less than aminute the mechanical behavior of the plant is tested over several *** performance and versatility of this method has been tested in three contrasted species:tobacco(Nicotiana benthamian),wheat(Triticum aestivum L.),and poplar(Populus sp.),for a total ofmore than 4000 data *** tobaccowe show that water stress decreased the free frequency by 15%.In wheat we could detect variations of less than 1 g in the mass of *** poplar we could measure frequencies of both the whole stem and *** work provides insight into new potential directions for development of phenotyping.

热带条件下,对不同发酵时间(T)下不同微生物菌剂(MI)处理的紫花苜蓿青贮饲料发酵过程、化学成分和微生物种群进行评估。将新鲜紫花苜蓿随机分配到4×6方阵中,分为无添加组(CTRL)、商业发酵剂组(CIN)、乳酸片球菌组(S1)和戊糖片球菌组(S2)4组,发酵剂添加量为106cfu·g^(-1),发酵时间分别为1、3、7、14、28和56 d,设3个重复。紫花苜蓿在初花期阶段播种后82 d收割,切成1.5 cm长,密封在25×35 cm真空密封塑料袋中,在地窖贮藏。贮存前乳酸菌、肠道菌、霉菌和酵母菌的数量分别为5.42、5.58、4.82和4.8 cfu·g^(-1),56 d后对紫花苜蓿的化学成分进行检测。在T×MI作用下,除乳酸和丙酸的浓度,所有参数均相互影响。1~28 d内S1组和S2组的p H比CTRL组低,56 d时两组p H相近。7或14 d时,明显观察到S1组和S2组乳酸浓度较高。而3、28 d时,S1组和S2组的乳酸浓度低于CTRL组和CIN组。MI不同或MI×T交互作用并未影响微生物种群数量,但肠道菌数量仍有小幅波动,在1~14 d时递减,之后缓慢上升。56 d时,地窖贮存的紫花苜化学成分并没有受到微生物制剂种类的影响。试验结果表明,戊糖片球菌在发酵过程中最有效,能迅速降低p H,增加乳酸浓度,是一种有潜力的青贮饲料发酵剂。

The essential oils from Mentha viridis L. and Mentha pulegium L. were characterized by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). These oils were obtained by hydrodistillation and presented linalool (40.70%), carvone (13.52%) and α-terpinene (8.56%) as the principal constituents in the essential oil from Mentha viridis L. Pulegone (50.01%), menthol (31.90%) and menthone (16.56%) were the principal constituents in the essential oil from Mentha pulegium L. These essential oils (in concentrations ranging from 3.91 to 500 μL·mL-1) showed satisfactory activities against escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella choleraesuis and Staphylococcus aureus. The antioxidant activities with 2-deoxyribose and phosphomolybdenum and the reducing power (in concentrations ranging from 0.78 to 1000 μL·mL-1) were determined. The antioxidant activity was observed for the two oils evaluated by the phosphomolybdenum and 2-deoxyribose methods, whereas the essential oil from M. viridis presented low antioxidant activity in the reducing power assay.

The present work aimed to evaluate the behavior of glyphosate herbicide in aquatic environment, considering some water quality parameters, in reservoir conditions without flow and without replacement of evapotranspired water. Twenty reservoirs (polyethylene water tanks) with a storage capacity of 1000 liters were used. The recommended herbicide dose according to the manufacturer was 7.0 L or 3360 grams of acid equivalent per hectare. For application in the reservoirs, a precision equipment was used to carbon dioxide (CO2), providing a flow of 200 L·ha-1. Freezing macrophyte death was achieved by storing the plants in a freezer at -18°C for a period of 48 hours. The analyses of control efficiency were performed at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days after application (daA). Water samples for analysis of quality indicators, pH and dissolved oxygen were collected weekly for nine weeks. The obtained result allows concluding that the herbicide glyphosate presented excellent control efficiency of water hyacinth and did not significantly alter the water quality parameters pH and dissolved oxygen, indicating its use in the management of this macrophyte.

essential oils from Mentha piperita, Cymbopogon citratus, Rosmarinus officinalis, Peumus boldus and Foeniculum vulgare were extracted by hydrodistillation, chemically characterized and quantified by GC/MS and GC/FID. The principal componentes in the essential oil of M. piperita (carvone and limonene), C. citratus (geranial, neral and myrcene), R. officinalis (1,8-cineole, camphor and α-pinene), P. boldus (α-terpinyl formate, p-cymene and 1,8-cineole) and F. vulgare (methyl chavicol, limonene and fenchone) were identified. The oils were tested for antioxidant activity employing the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl) radical-capture method, the oxidation of the β-carotene/linoleic acid system, and the ABTS radical-capture method. The essential oils were not effective. The antioxidant activities of the oils were determined by the hydroxyl method, and the highest activity (62.80%) was observed with the essential oil from M. piperita. Activities of 1.54 and 1.82 μg μg-1, respectively, were observed for the essential oils from C. citratus and P. Boldus using the phosphomolybdenum method. No activity was observed with respect to reducing power. The essential oil from C. citratus was effective in inhibiting the growth of L. monocytogenes (15.63 mg·L-1), S. choleraesuis (15.63 mg·L-1) and e. coli (31.25 mg·L-1), and the essential oil from P. boldus inhibited the growth of S. aureus (62.5 mg·L-1). No essential oil inhibited the growth of P. aeruginosa. A low antioxidant activity and a promising antibacterial activity were observed for these essential oils.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) represents a serious problem in critically ill patients and is associated with in-hospital mortality rates of 33%-52%. Recruitment maneuvers(RMs) are a simple, low-cost, feasible intervention that can be performed at the bedside in patients with ARDS. RMs are characterized by the application of airway pressure to increase transpulmonary pressure transiently. Once non-aerated lung units are reopened, improvements are observed in respiratory system mechanics, alveolar reaeration on computed tomography, and improvements in gas exchange(functional recruitment). However, the reopening process could lead to vascular compression, which can be associated with overinflation, and gas exchange may not improve as expected(anatomical recruitment). The purpose of this review was to discuss the effects of different RM strategies- sustained inflation, intermittent sighs, and stepwise increases of positive end-expiratory pressure(PeeP) and/or airway inspiratory pressure- on the following parameters: hemodynamics, oxygenation, barotrauma episodes, and lung recruitability through physiological variables and imaging techniques. RMs and PeeP titration are interdependent events for the success of ventilatory management. PeeP should be adjusted on the basis of respiratory system mechanics and oxygenation. Recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses suggest that RMs are associated with lower mortality in patients with ARDS. However, the optimal RM method(i.e., that providing the best balance of benefit and harm) and the effects of RMs on clinical outcome are still under discussion, and further evidence is needed.
