The purpose of the next internet of things(Io T)is that of making available myriad of services to people by high sensing intelligent devices capable of reasoning and real time *** convergence of Io T and multi-agent systems(MAS)provides the opportunity to benefit from the social attitude of agents in order to perform machine-to-machine(M2 M)cooperation among smart ***,the selection of reliable partners for cooperation represents a hard task in a mobile and federated context,especially because the trustworthiness of devices is largely *** issues discussed above can be synthesized by recalling the well known concept of social resilience in Io T systems,i.e.,the capability of an Io T network to resist to possible attacks by malicious agent that potentially could infect large areas of the network,spamming unreliable information and/or assuming unfair *** this sense,social resilience is devoted to face malicious activities of software agents in their social interactions,and do not deal with the correct working of the sensors and other information *** this setting,the use of a reputation model can be a practicable and effective solution to form local communities of agents on the basis of their social *** this paper,we propose a framework for agents operating in an Io T environment,called Res Io T,where the formation of communities for collaborative purposes is performed on the basis of agent *** order to validate our approach,we performed an experimental campaign by means of a simulated framework,which allowed us to verify that,by our approach,devices have not any economic convenience to performs misleading ***,further experimental results have shown that our approach is able to detect the nature of the active agents in the systems(i.e.,honest and malicious),with an accuracy of not less than 11%compared to the best competitor tested and highlighting a high resilience with respect to some

In this paper, we are interested in answering the following research question: "Is it possible to form effective groups in virtual communities by exploiting trust information without significant overhead, similarly to real user communities?"In order to answer this question, instead of adopting the largely used approach of exploiting the opinions provided by all the users of the community(called global reputation), we propose to use a particular form of reputation, called local reputation. We also propose an algorithm for group formation able to implement the proposed procedure to form effective groups in virtual communities. Another interesting question is how to measure the effectiveness of groups in virtual communities. To this aim we introduce the index in a measure of the effectiveness of the group formation. We tested our algorithm by realizing some experimental trials on real data from the real world EPINIONS and CIAO communities, showing the significant advantages of our procedure w.r.t. another prominent approach based on traditional global reputation.

Potential impact of genetically modified lepidoptera-resistant Brassica napus in biodiversity hotspots： Sicily as a theoretical model

The general increase of the cultivation and trade of Bt transgenic plants resis- tant to lepidoptera pests raises concerns regarding the conservation of animal and plant biodiversity. Demand for biofuels has increased the cultivation and importation of oilseed rape （Brassica napus l.）, including transgenic lines. In environmental risk assessments （ERAs） for its potential future cultivation as well as for food and feed uses, the impact on wild Brassicaeae relatives and on non-target lepidoptera should be assessed. Here we consider the potential exposure of butterflies as results of possible cultivation or natural- ization of spilled seed in Sicily （Italy）. Diurnal lepidoptera, which are pollinators, can be exposed directly to the insecticidal proteins as larvae （mainly of Pieridae） through the host and through the pollen that can deposit on other host plants. Adults can be exposed via pollen and nectar. The flight periods of butterflies were recorded, and they were found to overlap for about 90% of the flowering period ofB. napus for the majority of the species. In addition, B. napus has a high potential to hybridise with endemic taxa belonging to the B. oleracea group. This could lead to an exposure of non-target lepidoptera if introgression of the Bt gene into a wild population happens. A rank of the risk for butterflies and wild relatives of oilseed rape is given. We conclude that, in environmental risk assessments, attention should be paid to plant-insect interaction especially in a biodiversity hotspot such as Sicily.

Early diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease(PD):how we can improve the therapeutic approach:PD is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by motor dysfunctions(tremor,rigidity,bradykinesia and impaired posture/balance)elicited by selective depletion of dopaminergic(DA)neurons in substantia nigra pars *** neuron loss is associated with neuronal inclusions of the phosphorylatedα-synuclein protein called lewy body(Shults,2006).Although the underlying neurodegenerative process is not affected,the management of PD patients has been revolutionized with the introduction of levodopa and DA drugs in the routine therapy,which ensures initial symptomatic relief of motor functions through the DA supply in the nigrostriatal *** drugs are currently the best option for treating PD,although their chronic use is associated with progressive dopamine resistance and loss of effectiveness in the recovery of motor *** therapeutic strategies,including agonists of DA receptors,monoamine oxide B inhibitors,and even deep brain stimulation techniques have been developed to overcome these clinical ***,these therapeutic approaches cannot restore PD-compromised functions,as irreversible DA neurodegeneration has occurred in substantia nigra pars compacta when first motor symptoms *** nigrostriatal system is traditionally considered as the first region affected by neuronal impairment in Parkinsonisms;however,α-synuclein aggregation appears in a pre-motor stage of the disease in the enteric nervous system(ENS).

The energy gap law(E_(G)-law)and aggregation quenching are the main limitations to overcome in the design of near-infrared(NIR)organic ***,we achieve unprecedented results by synergistically addressing both of these ***,we propose porphyrin oligomers with increasing length to attenuate the effects of the E_(G)-law by suppressing the non-radiative rate growth,and to increase the radiative rate via enhancement of the oscillator ***,we design side chains to suppress aggregation *** find that the logarithmic rate of variation in the non-radiative rate vs.E_(G)is suppressed by an order of magnitude with respect to previous studies,and we complement this breakthrough by demonstrating organic light-emitting diodes with an average external quantum efficiency of-1.1%,which is very promising for a heavy-metal-free 850 nm *** also present a novel quantitative model of the internal quantum efficiency for active layers supporting triplet-to-singlet *** results provide a general strategy for designing high-luminance NIR emitters.

Markers of systemic inflammation and colorectal adenoma risk: Meta-analysis of observational studies

To perform a meta-analysis of observational studies on inflammatory markers levels and occurrence of colorectal *** and EMBASE databases were searched until March 2016 for the articles reporting on the circulating levels of inflammatory markers, including: C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (Il-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and risk of colorectal adenoma. Random-effects models were used to calculate summary odds ratios (ORs) with 95%CIs for the highest vs lowest category of exposure. Heterogeneity was assessed by using the Q test and I2 statistic. Subgroup analyses were also performed to test for potential source of *** total of 14 case-control studies were included. Ten studies on CRP including a total of 3350 cases and 4168 controls showed non-significant summary (OR = 1.23, 95%CI: 0.98-1.54; I2 = 54%, Pheterogeneity = 0.01) in the general analysis, but significant increased odds when considering only advanced adenoma (OR = 1.59, 95%CI: 1.09-2.32; I2 = 44%, Pheterogeneity = 0.15). Subgroup and stratified analyses revealed a potential influence of smoking status and aspirin use on the association between CRP levels and colorectal adenoma. Five studies examined the association between circulating levels of TNF-α and colorectal adenoma risk, including a total of 1,568 cases and 2,832 controls. The summary OR for the highest vs the lowest category of exposure was 1.00 (95%CI: 0.77-1.29). The relationship between circulating Il-6 levels and colorectal adenoma risk was investigated in 7 studies including a total of 1936 cases and 3611 controls. The summary OR for the highest vs the lowest category of exposure was 1.19 (95%CI: 0.92-1.55).CONClUSIONSummary of current evidence suggests a positive association of CRP levels and advanced colorectal adenoma risk. The role of potential confounding factors should be further evaluated.

Procalcitonin in inflammatory bowel disease: Drawbacks and opportunities

The measurement of procalcitonin has recently become a mainstay for the diagnosis and therapeutic management of severe bacterial infections, especially those sustained by Gram-negative bacteria. Therefore, the aim of this article is to provide a narrative overview on the potential role of procalcitonin measurement in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). According to the available scientific literature, the clinical significance of procalcitonin for diagnosing IBD or monitoring disease activity remains elusive, and its association with disease severity is confined to a limited number of case-control studies, with low sample size. Nevertheless, literature data also suggests that a supranormal procalcitonin serum concentration(i.e., > 0.5 ng/m l) may reflect the presence of a number of infective complications in IBD, especially bacterial enterocolitis, bacterial gastroenteritis, intraabdominal abscess, postsurgical infection and sepsis. Rather than for diagnosing or assessing disease activity, the measurement of this biomarker may hence retain practical clinical significance for early prediction, timely diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring of many IBDassociated infections and complications.

Salix l.(willow)is the largest genus of the family Salicaceae and plays an important role in riparian habitats,wetlands and in shrub *** to the diff erent implications for the species belonging to this family,it is fundamental to identify molecular tools characterizing relevant clones.A set of six multilocus and multiallelic simple sequence repeat(SSRs)markers are presented,leading to 390 polymorphic fragments considered as single dominant markers and able to discriminate successfully 92 *** *** 24 Salix *** polymorphic fragments have been used to perform genetic diversity studies,and to investigate population structures and cluster analysis in a germplasm *** results highlight the capability of the six SSRs to be powerful genetic resources in applied forestry research,both to distinguish *** clones from Salix *** to perform genetic population studies for breeding programs.

The intermittent nature of renewable resources requires for most applications the development of efficient and cost-effective technologies for steady supply of electrical *** storage of energy in the form of hydrogen chemically bound within organic molecules(rather than physically as compressed gas or cooled liquid)represents an alternative approach that is attracting great research *** to other liquid organic hydrogen carriers(lOHCs),dimethyl ether(DME)appears to have the largest potential impact on society,especially if inserted in technological chains of CO_(2) sequestration and utilization,so to determine an effective mitigation of environmental issues,without any net effect on the carbon ***,the steps of H2 storage and H2 release can take place in two coupled chemical processes,constituted by the exothermic synthesis of DME via CO_(2) hydrogenation and the endothermic steam reforming of DME,***,the latest advances in the development of heterogeneous bifunctional and hybrid catalysts for the direct hydrogenation of CO_(2) to DME are thoroughly reviewed,with special emphasis on thermodynamics,catalyst design and process *** many aspects behind the mechanism of DME synthesis from H2-CO_(2) streams are still to be uncovered,the recent progress in the research on H2 release by DME steam reforming is increasing the interest for effectively closing this binary H2 loop,in view of future green deals and sustainable research developments.
