Intraplaque injections of hyaluronic acid for the treatment of stable-phase Peyronie’s disease:a retrospective single-center experience

Peyronie’s disease(PD)is a condition of penile connective tissue affecting up to 10%of men *** the complexity ofits management,nonsurgical treatments,such as intraplaque injections,are gaining *** current literature shows dataon the efficacy of intraplaque injections of hyaluronic acid(HA)mainly in acute-phase ***,data on injections of HA instable-phase PD are *** for this retrospective study were derived from a prospectively maintained database of privatepatients presenting at a private medical practice affiliated to the University of Naples“Federico II”(Naples,Italy)with stable-phasePD between January 2020 and March *** underwent a standard protocol of three injections,each administered at atwo-week *** the intervals,patients performed vacuum device therapy,penile stretching,and modeling *** compiled the Peyronie’s Disease Questionnaire(PDQ)and Global Assessment of Peyronie’s Disease(GAPD)at baselineand 2 weeks after the third injection.A penile Doppler ultrasound was performed 2 weeks after the last injection to record thefinal ***,we recruited 62 patients with stable-phase PD and a mean(±standard deviation[s.d.])curvature of52.7°(±9.7°).After 6 weeks,eight(12.9%)patients did not experience any curvature *** remaining 54 patientshad a final mean(±s.d.)curvature of 40.3°(±9.1°)with P<0.001,compared to that before *** found improvement inall PDQ domains(all P≤0.01),and 50(80.6%)patients reported subjective improvement of the penile curvature according to *** conclusion,we demonstrated that after three injections of HA administered according to the adopted protocol,patientswith stable-phase PD could experience significant improvements in penile curvature,and physical and psychological consequencesof the disease without significantly relevant side effects.

As we are in the knowledge economy, the main purpose of this research is to define the value of relational capital by measuring it with an innovative model. To this end, this paper will explain the meaning of intellectual capital (human capital, structural capital, and relational capital) in the field of knowledge economy and what relational capital is and how we can measure its value. The research is qualitative in nature and was developed through the study of the international literature. The research presents some theoretical evidences that permit defining a method for the evaluation of relational capital. In this direction, the above method will need to have some integration in the future research. Moreover, this approach should consider some empirical evidences to establish the practical value of the method. In fact, the method presented encourages debate and a critical attitude towards the evaluations of relational capital and intellectual capital.

In this paper, a novel cable-driven parallel robot, CUBE, is introduced for the assistance of patients in rehabilitation exercising of both upper and lower limbs. The system is characterized by a lightweight structure that is easy to set-up and operate, for both clinical and home usage for both pre-determined and customized exercises, with control over the position of the end-effector while locking its rotation around the horizontal axes. Its cable-driven design makes it inherently safe in human/robot interactions also due to the extremely low inertia. While a novel end-effector design makes the device wearable both on the upper and lower limbs without having to disassemble any part of the structure. The design is presented with its kinematic analysis. Then, the manufacturing through 3D?printing and commercial components of a first prototype is reported. Finally, the system is validated through motion tests along simple trajectories and two different spatial exercises.

Since the discovery of graphene, many efforts have been done to modify the graphene structure for integrating this novel material to nanoelectronics, fuel cells, energy storage devices and in many other applications. This leads to the production of different types of graphene-based materials, which possess properties different from those of pure graphene. Porous graphene is an example of this type of materials. It can be considered as a graphene sheet with some holes/pores within the atomic plane. Due to its spongy structure, porous graphene can have potential applications as membranes for molecular sieving, energy storage components and in nanoelectronics. In this review, we present the recent progress in the synthesis of porous graphene. The properties and the potential applications of this new material are also discussed.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) constitute pivotal microorganisms for the food industry due to their considerable technological and functional *** dairy products,that is ancient traditions worldwide,still have been accepted and consumed today for their nutritional and organoleptic *** accordance with the current trends in the market and greater awareness of consumer well-being,a detailed assessment of the health effects of dairy product consumption has been undertaken with particular reference to the production of bioactive metabolites including i.e.,γ-aminobutyric acid,conjugated linoleic acid,bioactive peptides,exopolysaccharides as well as vitamins during LAB *** long histories of yogurt,kefir,and traditional fermented milk drink as sources of some certain probiotic bacteria as well as the opportunity to bio-fortify the matrix with bioactive microbial compounds in situ make fermented dairy products an attractive model in the efforts to develop sustainable functional food ***,this review provides the main biochemical characteristics and biotechnological application of LAB as pro-technological,bioprotective,and health-promoting in the food chain.
