In dye-photoca.a.ys.s. widening the wa.elengths.a.s.rption ra.ge of ca.a.ys.s.a. well a. a.orting the recombina.ion of the photoexcited cha.ge ca.riers.electrons.holes.pa.rs. a.e of pa.a.ount *** the current s.udy, we report the photoca.a.ytic cha.a.teris.ics.of four compos.tions.compos.d of TiO_(2),Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.005)O_(2)a.d Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.01)O_(2)powders.for two ha.mful dyes.Congo red a.d methylene blue). The X-ra. diffra.tion technique verified the configura.ion of mixed a.a.a.e a.d rutile pha.es.in pure TiO_(2)a.d Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2)powders.while Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.005)O_(2)a.d Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.01)O_(2)powders.pos.es. a.a.a.e pha.e only. The cha.ges.of the ba.d ga. s.ructure a.d dimens.ons.of the unit cell volume of TiO_(2)confirm the s.bs.itution of Ti^(4+)s.tes.by Cu^(2+)a.d La.(3+)ions. Rema.ka.le widening of wa.elengths.a.s.rption with forma.ion of long a.s.rption ta.ls.were found in TiO_(2)(3.13 e V) through ins.rtion of La.(3+)plus.Cu^(2+)ions. Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.005)O_(2)a.d Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.01)O_(2)s.0}ples.exhibit a.vis.ble light ba.d ga. of 2.3 a.d 2.7 e V, res.ectively. Ba.ed on s.M ima.es. incorpora.ion of Cu^(2+)a.d La.(3+)ions.influences.the s.rfa.e morphology of TiO_(2). The res.lting Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.005)O_(2)a.d Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.01)O_(2)powders.pres.nt enha.ced photoca.a.ytic a.tivity towa.ds.Congo red dye degra.a.ion compa.ed to pure one under na.ura. s.la. s.ectrum. The bes. Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La.(0.01)O_(2)ca.a.ys. exhibits.s.perior photoca.a.ytic a.tivity of 96% for 10 ppm CR dye in 20 min a. well a. a.ove a.era.e photoca.a.ytic efficiency of 63% for 30 ppm CR dye in 120 min. a. well, it s.owed a.cepta.le photodegra.a.ion a.tivity of 52% for 30 ppm MB s.lution in 140 min of s.nlight irra.ia.ion.
