Social relationship satisfaction and accumulation of chronic conditions and multimorbidity:a national cohort of Australian women

Background Social relationships are associated with mortality and chronic ***,little is known about the effects of social relationship satisfaction on multiple chronic conditions(multimorbidity).Aims To examine whether social relationship satisfaction is associated with the accumulation of *** data from 7694 Australian women who were free from 11 chronic conditions at 45–50 years of age in 1996 were *** types of social relationship satisfaction(partner,family members,friends,work and social activities)were measured approximately every 3 years and scored from 0(very dissatisfied)to 3(very satisfied).Scores from each relationship type were summed to provide an overall satisfaction score(range:≤5–15).The outcome of interest was the accumulation of multimorbidity in 11 chronic *** Over a 20-year period,4484(58.3%)women reported ***,the level of social relationship satisfaction had a dose–response relationship with the accumulation of *** with women reporting the highest satisfaction(score 15),women with the lowest satisfaction(score≤5)had the highest odds of accumulating multimorbidity(odds ratio(OR)=2.35,95%confidence interval(CI):1.94 to 2.83)in the adjusted *** results were observed for each social relationship *** risk factors,such as socioeconomic,behavioural and menopausal status,together explained 22.72%of the *** Social relationship satisfaction is associated with the accumulation of multimorbidity,and the relationship is only partly explained by socioeconomic,behavioural and reproductive *** connections(eg,satisfaction with social relationships)should be considered a public health priority in chronic disease prevention and intervention.

Propolis modulates cellular biochemistry, antioxidants, cytokine profile, histological and ultra-morphological status against antituberculosis drugs induced hepatic injury

To evaluate hepatic injury induced by antituberculosis drugs(ATds) when administered orally for 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks and the therapeutic potential of propolis(bee hive product) against ATds induced hepatic injury. Methods: The ATds were administered for 8 weeks as well as propolis extract at three different doses(100, 200, 400 mg/kg) conjointly for 8 weeks in rats. Silymarin(50 mg/kg) was given as positive control. Animals were euthanized after 8 weeks; blood and liver samples were collected to perform various biochemicals, serological and histopathological and ultramorphological studies. Results: Significant increase(P de and cholesterol along with reduction in glucose and albumin level were noted after ATds induced hepatic injury. Significant increase(P d peroxidation, triglyceride, cholesterol and CYP2E1 activity; decline in reduced glutathione, catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, glucose-6-phosphatase dehydrogenase activity were observed after ATds intoxication. due to presence of a wide range of flavonoids and polyphenols in propolis extract, its administration reduced hepatic injury and maintained biochemical indices towards control. Histopathological and electron microscopic observations indicated hepatoprotective potential of propolis at cellular level whereas, TNF-α, IL-6 and IGF-1 confirmed therapeutic potential of propolis at molecular level. Conclusions: It can be concluded that propolis possess hepatoprotective potential against ATds induced hepatic injury that may prove itself as a clinically useful natural product in management of drug induced liver injury.

Egg quality, fatty acid composition and immunoglobulin Y content in eggs from laying hens fed full fat camelina or flax seed

Background： The current study was conducted to evaluate egg quality and egg yolk fatty acids and immunoglobulin（Ig Y） content from laying hens fed full fat camelina or flax ***： A total of 75, 48-week-old Lohman brown hens were randomly allocated to 3 treatments, with 5replicates containing 5 laying hens each replicate. The hens were fed corn-soybean basal diet（Control）, or Control diet with 10 % of full fat camelina（Camelina） or flax seed（Flax） for a period of 16 wk. Hen production performance egg quality, egg yolk lipids, fatty acids and Ig Y were determined every 28 d during the experimental ***： Egg production was higher in hens fed Camelina and Flax than in Control hens（P 〈 0.05）. Egg weight and albumen weight was lowest in eggs from hens fed Camelina（P 〈 0.05）. Shell weight relative to egg weight（shell weight %）, and shell thickness was lowest in eggs from hens fed Flax（P 〈 0.05）. No difference was noted in Haugh unit, yolk：albumen ratio, and yolk weight. Significant increase in α-linolenic（18：3 n-3）, docosapentaenoic（22：5 n-3）and docoshexaenoic（22：6 n-3） acids were observed in egg yolk from hens fed Camelina and Flax. Total n-3 fatty acids constituted 1.19 % in Control eggs compared to 3.12 and 3.09 % in Camelina and Flax eggs, respectively（P 〈 0.05）. Eggs from hens fed Camelina and Flax had the higher Ig Y concentration than those hens fed Control diet when expressed on a mg/g of yolk basis（P 〈 0.05）. Although the egg weight was significantly lower in Camelina-fed hens, the total egg content of Ig Y was highest in eggs from hens fed Camelina（P 〈 0.05）.Conclusions： The egg n-3 fatty acid and Ig Y enhancing effect of dietary camelina seed warrants further attention into the potential of using camelina as a functional feed ingredient in poultry feeding.

Proterozoic orogenic belts and rifting of Indian cratons: Geophysical constraints

The Aravalli-delhi and Satpura Mobile Belts （AdMB and SMB） and the Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt （EGMB） in India form major Proterozoic mobile belts with adjoining cratons and contemporary basins. The most convincing features of the AdMB and the SMB have been the crustal layers dipping from both sides in opposite directions, crustal thickening （ -45 km） and high density and high conductivity rocks in upper/ lower crust associated with faults/thrusts. These observations indicate convergence while domal type re- flectors in the lower crust suggest an extensional rifting phase. In case of the SMB, even the remnant of the subducting slab characterized by high conductive and low density slab in lithospheric mantle up to - 120 km across the Purna-Godavari river faults has been traced which may be caused by fluids due to metamorphism. Subduction related intrusives of the SMB south of it and the AdMB west of it suggest N-S and E-W directed convergence and subduction during Meso-Neoproterozoic convergence. The simultaneous E-W conver- gence between the Bundelkhand craton and Marwar craton （Western Rajasthan） across the AdMB and the N-S convergence between the Bundelkhand craton and the Bhaodara and dharwar cratons across the SMB suggest that the forces of convergence might have been in a NE SW direction with E-W and N-S compo- nents in the two cases, respectively. This explains the arcuate shaped collision zone of the AdMB and the SMB which are connected in their western part. The Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt （EGMB） also shows signatures orE -W directed Meso Neoproterozoic convergence with East Antarctica similar to AdMB in north India. Foreland basins such as Vindhyan （AdMB-SMB）, and Kurnool （EGMB） Supergroups of rocks were formed during this convergence. Older rocks such as Aravalli （AdMB）, Mahakoshal-Bijawar （SMB）, and Cuddapah （EGMB） Supergroups of rocks with several basic/ultrabasic intrusives along these mobile belts, plausibly formed during an earlier episode of rifting during

Snow Cover Variation and Streamflow Simulation in a Snow-fed River Basin of the Northwest Himalaya

Snowmelt is an important component of any snow-fed river *** Jhelum River is one such transnational mountain river flowing through India and *** basin is minimally glacierized and its discharge is largely governed by seasonal snow cover and ***,accurate estimation of seasonal snow cover dynamics and snowmeltinduced runoff is important for sustainable water resource management in the *** present study looks into spatio-temporal variations of snow cover for past decade and stream flow simulation in the Jhelum River *** cover extent(SCE) was estimated using MOdIS(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) sensor *** difference Snow Index(NdSI) algorithm was used to generate multi-temporal time series snow cover *** results indicate large variation in snow cover distribution pattern and decreasing trend in different sub-basins of the Jhelum *** relationship between SCE-temperature,SCE-discharge and discharge-precipitation was analyzed for different seasons and shows strong *** streamflow simulation of the entire Jhelum basin Snow melt Runoff Model(SRM) used.A good correlation was observed between simulated stream flow and in-situ *** monthly discharge contribution from different sub-basins to the total discharge of the Jhelum River was estimated using a modified version of runoff model based on temperature-index approach developed for small *** power - an indicator of the erosive capability of streams was also calculated for different sub-basins.

Friction stir processing and post process artificial ageing was successfully carried out on AA7075 with and without reinforcement of SiC particles producing defect free processed zone with uniform distribution of filler *** of SiC particle reinforcement and artificial ageing times on the microstructural modifications was characterized using optical and electron microscopy,electron backscattered diffraction and X-Ray ***,impact and wear tests were carried out to investigate mechanical behaviour before and after *** of SiC particles during FSP and subsequent age hardening treatment brought about nearly twofold increase in hardness and impact toughness values by the combined effect of grain refinement,Zener pinning,dispersion strengthening and precipitation *** improvement in wear resistance in terms of wear loss was also observed after processing compared to the reference material *** surface of post FSP age hardened AA7075 alloy exhibited features of ductile fracture during Charpy impact test.
