Extraction of rare earth elements from a South American ionic clay

Ionic clays,formed by the natural weathering of REE-bearing minerals and the adsorption of the resulting liberated REE ions onto the clay surface,are an important resource for critical rare earth elements(REEs).Here,a two-step desorption process using ammonium sulfate with active pH adjustment using sulfuric acid was developed to extract REEs from a South American *** desorption process was optimized using response surface methodology approach and the optimum operating conditions were determined to be 0.15 mol/L ammonium sulfate,pH 3,liquid to solid ratio of 3/1,and 25℃ with20 min residence *** is shown that this ionic clay is significantly different from previously reported clays,e.g.,from southern China,as it consists of three modes of REEs,including ion-exchanged REEs physically adsorbed on the clay surface,hydrolyzed REEs chemically adsorbed on the clay surface,and mineralized(non-desorbable) REEs within the *** investigations through progressive acidification during desorption and adsorption isotherms show that REE desorption/adsorption occurs due to the combined action of physical ion exchange adsorption and surface complexation chemical adsorption,with their relative importance depending on the pH of the system and the amount of sulfate anions present within the *** work supports overall efforts to utilize ionic clays as a relatively new resource for REEs to empower the development and adoption of modern green technologies such as wind turbines and electric vehicles.

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic,relapsing,non-contiguous,exudative eczema/dermatitis,which represents a complex,multi-factorial disorder,due to an impairment of the stratum corneum *** available drugs have a low skin bioavailability and may give rise to severe adverse ***,including nanoparticles,liposomes,nano-gels,nano-mixtures,nano-emulsions and other nano-carriers,offer unprecedented solutions to these issues,enabling:i)the management of different clinical forms of atopic dermatitis,especially the recalcitrant ones,i)a better bio-availability and trans-dermal drug targeted delivery at the inflammation site,ii)dose control,iii)significant improvements both in clinical symptoms and immune responses,iv)with less adverse events being reported and a better safety ***,some nano-sized structures could amplify and even worsen symptoms in particularly susceptible ***,most studies included in the present systematic review have been conducted in-vitro or in-vivo,with few randomized controlled clinical trials(RCTs).Future investigations should adopt this design in order to enable scholars achieving robust findings and ***,given the above-mentioned shortcomings,further research in the field is urgently warranted.

This work is a review of previous works,presenting and discussing the most important results obtained by an ongoing research program towards the development of innovative,low-cost,self-lubricating composites with a low friction coefficient and high mechanical strength and wear *** emphasis is given to uniaxial die pressing of solid lubricant particles mixed with matrix powders and to metal injection moulding associated with in situ generation of solid lubricant ***,a microstructural model/processing route (powder injection moulding followed by plasma-assisted debinding and sintering) produced a homogeneous dispersion of in situ generated solid lubricant *** nodules of graphite with diameter smaller than 20 μm were formed,constituting a nanostructured stacking of graphite foils with nanometric *** Raman analysis indicated that the graphite nodules were composed of turbostratic 2D graphite having highly misaligned graphene planes separated by large interlamellae *** interplanar distance between the graphene foils and misalignment of these foils were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy and were,probably,the origin of the outstandingly low dry friction coefficient (0.04).The effect of sintering temperature,precursor content,metallic matrix composition and surface finish is also ***,the influence of a double-pressing/double-sintering (DPDS) technique on the tribological performance of self-lubricating uniaxially die-pressed hBN + graphite-Fe-Si-C-Mo composite is also ***,the tribological behaviour of die-pressed Fe-Si-C matrix composites containing 5,7.5 and 10 wt％ solid lubricants (hBN and graphite) added during the mixing step is analysed in terms of mechanical properties and wear ***,the synergy between solid lubricant particles dispersed in a metallic matrix and fluid lubricants in a cooperative mixed lubrication regime is presented.

After the creation of the Law 9.394/96, which established the bases of Brazilian education, it is noted that government policies initiated at Fernando Henrique Cardoso （FHC） government reinforced the education decentralization process, combining higher education reform with state reform ruled by neoliberal policies. The literature about Higher Education contemporary problems points to three central themes： access to higher education, academic organization, and public universities privatization. Therefore, it is important to analyze the public space of relationship between state and civil society constituted for making decisions in this area because its deliberations directly affect public policy development. This paper aims to examine the capacity of Higher Education Chamber （CES） of the National Education Council （CNE） to consolidate civil society participation in decision-making issues concerning Higher Education in the period that includes 1997-2002, The CNE was selected because it is the highest forum for participation： it discusses the problems involved in national education, especially in higher education, whose decisions are taken by CES. The period 1997-2002 was defined because it is the period of President FHC government, after the creation of Law 9.394/96. The official documents and Council documents analysis showed that this public space consolidates the participation because there is an educational process of recognition of civil society issues, although there are restrictions imposed by the government.

此文论述蒙泰涅的《随笔集》(发表于1580—1592)如何开启了现代主义文学的先河。蒙泰涅在观察、描绘自己时也观察、描绘了社会,在自己的身体和他那个时代的社会机制之间建立起了类似网络,从中得出怀疑主义的结论,认为社会机体同人的身体一样也要经历生、老、病、死的阶段。此文作者运用精神分析学的概念和方法,探讨了这些有关身体的隐喻,指出蒙泰涅的哲学基础是一种自恋式的恐惧,他害怕在“公共事务”构成的陌生而危险的氛围中失去自我,因此宁愿进行自我分析,以“自知之明”阅读、书写社会。

AIM To evaluate the outcomes in biological treatment and quality of life of psoriatic patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC) treated with new Direct-Acting Antiviral agents(DAAs) compared to pegylated interferon-2α plus ribavirin(P/R) *** This is a retrospective study involving psoriatic patients in biological therapy who underwent anti-hepatitis C virus(HCV) treatment at the Department of Dermatology Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute Milan, Italy from January 2010 to November 2017. The patients were divided into two groups: patients that underwent therapy with DAAs and patients that underwent HCV treatment with P/R. Patients were assessed by a dermatologist for psoriasis symptoms, collecting Psoriasis Area Severity Index(PASI) scores and the Dermatology Quality of Life Index(DLQI). PASI and DLQI scores were evaluated 24 wk after the end of HCV treatment and were assumed as an outcome of the progression of psoriasis. Switching to a different b DMARD was considered as an inadequate response to biological therapy. The dropout of HCV therapy and sustained virological response(SVR) were considered as outcomes of HCV *** Fifty-nine psoriatic patients in biological therapy underwent antiviral therapy for CHC. Of this, 27 patients were treated with DAAs and 32 with P/R. After 24 wk post treatment, the DLQI and the PASI scores were significantly lower(P < 0.001 and P < 0.005, respectively) in the DAAs group compared with P/R group. None of the patients in the DAAs group(0/27) compared to 8 patients of the P/R group(8/32) needed a shift in biological *** DAAs seem to be more effective and safe than P/R in HCV-positive psoriatic patients on biological treatment. Fewer dermatological adverse events may be due to interferon-free therapy.

Effect of age and different doses of dietary vitamin E on breast meat qualitative characteristics of finishing broilers

The supplementation of vitamin E on broiler chicken diets is essential to the prevention of lipid oxidation reactions in the meat and improvement of meat *** objective of this study was to assess the effect of different doses of dietary vitamin E on breast meat quality of broiler chickens in the finishing *** doses of vitamin E were used(30,90,150,210,and 270 mg/kg feed)in broilers'diets from 42 to 54 d of age.A completely randomized design was conducted,followed by a split-plot,where the vitamin E dose was considered as the whole plot,and broilers'age at slaughter was the *** meat quality was assessed at 4 different ages(45,48,51,and 54 d old),using 50 birds per age,totaling 200 *** quality characteristics evaluated were:pH at 24 h post mortem,color(brightness,redness,and yellowness),water holding capacity,cooking loss,shear force,and lipid *** was no interaction between age and dose of vitamin E for meat quality characteristics(P>0.05).The age at slaughter had a quadratic effect(P<0.05)on pH,brightness,redness,and water holding *** pH values were higher in the breast meat of older birds(51 and 52 d old),breast meat of younger birds(48 d)had a more reddish *** force value was higher in breast meat of birds slaughtered at later ages(P<0.01),as a linear age-effect was *** increased linearly(P<0.05)with higher vitamin doses,whereas treatments did not alter yellowness,cooking loss,and lipid *** this study,increasing vitamin E doses in the finishing period increased the brightness of broiler breast meat,whereas slaughtering at later ages resulted in greater meat pH and shear force value.
