Chronic infections due to hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses are responsible for most cases of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)worldwide,and this association is likely to remain during the next ***,viral hepatitis-related HCC imposes an important burden on public health in terms of disability-adjusted life *** order to reduce such a burden,some major challenges must be *** vaccination against hepatitis B virus,especially in the neonatal period,is probably the most relevant primary preventive measure against the development of ***,considering the large adult population already infected with hepatitis B and C viruses,it is also imperative to identify these individuals to ensure their access to *** hepatitis B and C currently have highly effective therapies,which are able to diminish the risk of development of liver ***,it is essential for individuals at high-risk of HCC to be included in surveillance programs,so that tumors are detected at an early *** with hepatitis B or C and advanced liver fibrosis or cirrhosis benefit from being followed in a surveillance *** hepatitis B virus is oncogenic and capable of leading to liver cancer even in individuals with early stages of liver fibrosis,other high-risk groups of patients with hepatitis B are also candidates for *** effort is required concerning these strategies in order to decrease the incidence and the mortality of viral hepatitis-related HCC.

post-fire recovery of puya raimondii, vegetation and birds in the puna of Huascarán National park, perú

A large fire of 233 ha in Huascarán National park in peru provided an opportunity to compare plant and bird responses in burned and nearby unburned zones of the puna. Heights and live diameters of flagship puya raimondii rosettes(assigned to four broad developmental phases), plant communities(66 species in 24 families and nine growth forms) and bird communities(77 species in six trophic guilds) were monitored after the fire. Although no mortality was observed, puya raimondii plants were affected by the fire, losing approximately 60% of their photosynthetic area across all developmental phases, but recovered quickly during the first two years after fire. The comparison of puya rosette recovery after fire was complicated by the changes in live rosette diameter for unburned plants, which showed plasticity of photosynthetic area linked to seasonal and annual fluctuations in precipitation in this relatively dry environment(decreased by 26% for mature adult plants over the study period). Fire caused an immediate change in the density, biomass and composition of vegetation. Although the species present remained similar, their abundances changed significantly immediately after the fire, with notable reductions in dominant tussock grasses. This provided opportunities for other plants, resulting in higher postfire diversity of plant species, genera, families and growth forms. In turn, the changes in vegetation after fire affected the composition of birds according to their trophic guild. Granivores largely disappeared,generalists were mostly unaffected, and other guilds showed a more complex response. As the vegetation recovered, most displaced birds returned within approximately one year.

Histological and Morphological Study of the Intestines of Wistar Rat Fetuses in a Modified Gastroschisis Experimental Model

In gastroschisis (G), the lesion degree of exposed intestinal segments is related to the time of its contact with the amniotic fluid (AF) and exposure to meconium which is the cause of intestinal morphological and histological alterations. The outcome of these alterations is intestinal hypoperistalsis and nutrient absorption deficiency, which contribute to increased morbidity and high medical-hospital costs. In this study, morphological and histological intestine alterations were identified at two different contact occasions with AF. Experimental gastroschisis (G) was performed on Wistar rat fetuses at a single gestational age on day 18.5p>thp>. The fetuses were removed on the 20.5p>thp> (G-1) and 21.5p>thp> days (G-2). Fetuses of both groups were divided in 3 sub-groups: control (C), gastroschisis (G) and sham (S). Measurements were taken of the Whole Set including fetus, placenta and membranes with AF (WS), fetus body weight (BW), intestinal weight (IW) and their diameters (dI). The objective of the present study is to test a new gastroschisis experimental model and identify differences in morphological and histological alterations in these two gestational periods that may be directly related to intestinal motility disorders in G. The WS and BW presented no significant statistical difference when compared G1 and G2. The results of the intestine average weight of G2 fetuses were significantly higher when compared to G1 fetuses in all subgroups (C: p = 0.02;G: p = 0.01;S: p = 0.02, Mann Whitney). The results of the intestinal average diameters (d/d) in G1 and G2 presented significant statistical difference only in G subgroup (p Kruskal Wallis). When compared intestinal average diameters, there was significant statistical difference of G fetuses in G1 and G2 (p Mann Whitney). Nutrient Accumulation in Amaryllis

Amaryllis plants (Hippeastrum hybrid, in the family Amaryllidaceae) are cultivated in Brazil mainly for bulb export. Studies about the nutrient accumulation dynamics by the species are yet incipient when considering Brazilian cultivation conditions. The objective was to determine the nutrient accumulation in amaryllis “Orange Souvereign” cultivated in the field. The experimental design was entirely randomized with four replications and 14 collection periods (at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, 360, 390, and 420 days after planting). Sampled plants were divided into leaves, bulb, and roots, which were used for determination of nutrient accumulation by leaves (aerial part) and bulb + roots (underground part). Nutrient accumulation of N, p, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn was calculated for each collection period, and then represented by curves of macro and micronutrient accumulation, as well as accumulation percentages for each plant part. For most macro and micronutrients, the interval of maximum accumulation fell from 301 to 420 days after planting, matching with the cycle final stage of plants cultivated in the field. Accumulated macronutrients by amaryllis plants along the cultivation cycle was, in g·plant-1: 1.57 N;0.19 p;2.58 K;0.64 Ca;0.20 Mg;and 0.29 S, following the descending order: K > N > Ca > S > Mg > p. Accumulated micronutrients, in mg·plant-1, was: 2.18 B;1.17 Cu;22.33 Fe;2.19 Mn;and 4.09 Zn, following the descending order: Fe > Zn > Mn > B > Cu.

目的评价经皮肝穿刺射频（RF）消融治疗包膜下肝肿瘤的效用与安全性。方法本研究经伦理委员会批准，所有受试者都签署了知情同意书。18t例病人（男79例，女102例，年龄36～85岁）的361个原发或继发（转移的）肝肿瘤进行了超声引导下的经皮RF消融治疗。44例病人有1个或1个以上包膜下肿瘤（组1），137病人仅有非包膜下肿瘤（组2）。总共80个包膜下结节和281个非包膜下结节。RF消融后1个月进行增强CT扫描评价消融的完整性。如果CT显示肿瘤残留，则再次进行RF消融。所有1次或2次RF消融治疗后的病人，每3个月进行CT或增强US进行监控。
