Over the last decade the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has gained significant interest as a numerical solver for multiphase flows. However most of the LBvariants proposed to date are still faced with discreteness artifacts in the form of spurious currents around fluid-fluid interfaces. In the recent past, Lee et al. have proposeda new LB scheme, based on a higher order differencing of the non-ideal forces, whichappears to virtually free of spurious currents for a number of representative *** this paper, we analyze the Lee method and show that, although strictly speaking, itlacks exact mass conservation, in actual simulations, the mass-breaking terms exhibita self-stabilizing dynamics which leads to their disappearance in the long-term evolution. This property is specifically demonstrated for the case of a moving droplet atlow-Weber number, and contrasted with the behaviour of the Shan-Chen model. Furthermore, the Lee scheme is for the first time applied to the problem of gravity-drivenRayleigh-Taylor instability. Direct comparison with literature data for different values of the Reynolds number, shows again satisfactory agreement. A grid-sensitivitystudy shows that, while large grids are required to converge the fine-scale details, thelarge-scale features of the flow settle-down at relatively low resolution. We concludethat the Lee method provides a viable technique for the simulation of Rayleigh-Taylorinstabilities on a significant parameter range of Reynolds and Weber numbers.

Objective:To evaluate pharmacological mimetic action of herbal extract Desmodium gangeticum (DC) roots on ischemia reperfusion ***:With the help of Langendroff perfusion technique,ischemic post condition(POC) mimetic action of DG methanol root extract was evaluated and compared by using standard drugs that acts as muscarinic receptor agonist and antagonist,namely acetylcholine(Ach) and atropine(Atr) respectively in an isolated rat heart. Results:The physiological parameters like left ventricular developed pressure,end diastolic pressure and working index of isolated rat heart showed significant recovery in DG root extract administrated rat heart,similar to the recovery by *** results showed muscarinic receptor agonist like action for DG methanol root extract,confirmed in rat heart by muscarnic receptor agonist(acetylcholine) and anatoginst(atropine).Administration of DC root extract prior to reperfusion showed better antioxidant status in myocardial tissue homogenate and mitochondrial,complemented by the levels of cardiac specific marker proteins in myocardial tissue and *** though DG methanol root extract mimics its action similar to that of Ach,the myocardial protection mediated by the extract was superior to Ach,due to the presence of antioxidants in the crude ***:DG methanol root extract provides myocardial protection towards IRI by stimulating muscarinic receptors.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of insulin administered via oral route with the help of aqueous extract of Desmodium gangeticum(DG) root in rendering cardio protection against ischemia reperfusion injury in diabetic ***:Diabetes mellitus was induced in rats by theβ-cell toxin,streptozotocin(STZ,60 mg/kg).Isolated rat(IR) heart was used to investigate the effect of insulin mixed DG pretreatment on ischemia reperfusion *** respiratory enzymes and microsomal enzymes were used to assess the metabolic recovery of myocardium. Objective: To study the renal toxic effect of titanium dioxide nanoparticles(TiNPs)prepared by chemical and green ***: TiNPs were prepared by chemical(sol gel technique) and green route(using aqueous extract of Desmodium gangeticum root by using titanium tetraisopropoxide as precursor). Thus prepared TiNPs were characterized using UV–visible spectrophotometry, X-ray diffractometry and evaluated its renal toxic impact in different experimental models viz., Wistar rats(100 mg/kg ***.; oral), LLC-PK1 cells(100 mg/m L) and isolated renal mitochondria(0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg/m L).Results: Compared to the chemically synthesized TiNPs, Desmodium gangeticum synthesized nanoparticles showed less nephrotoxicity, determined by elevated serum renal markers like urea(62%), creatinine(35%), aspartate aminotransferase(61%) and alanine transaminase(37%) and the result was in agreement with cellular toxicity(measured by MTT assay and lactate dehydrogenase activity). Further toxicity evaluation at the level of mitochondria showed not much significant difference in TiNPs effect between two synthetic ***: The biochemical findings in renal tissue and epithelial cell(LLC-PK1)supported by histopathology examination and isolated mitochondrial activity showed minor toxicity with TiNPs prepared by green route(Ti NP DG) than TiNP Chem.

Objective:To compare the anti-proliferative effect of sodium thiosulfate on human colorectal cancer cells(HT-29)and normal small intestine cells(IEC6).Methods:Cells(HT-29 and IEC6)were treated with different concentrations of sodium thiosulfate ranging from 0.5 m M to 80 m M for 24 *** viability was measured via crystal violet and MTT ***-29 cells were further treated in the presence and absence of mitochondrial electron transport chain(ETC)inhibitors,KATP channel opener and closer and H2S inhibitors for 24 h followed by sodium thiosulfate in order to study their respective roles in the anti-proliferative activity of sodium ***:The IC50 values of sodium thiosulfate on HT-29 cells were 40.93 m M and 42.45 m M by crystal violet and MTT assay whereas,in the case of IEC6 cells,the values were 45.17 m M and 47.22 m *** inhibition of endogenous H2S enzymes and KATP channel induced no change in the anti-proliferative capacity of sodium ***,the anti-proliferative activity of sodium thiosulfate was enhanced in the presence of mitochondrial ETC ***:HT-29 cell growth is effectively attenuated by sodium thiosulfate and the anti-proliferative activity of sodium thiosulfate is enhanced in the presence of mitochondrial ETC inhibitors.

The crystalline materials Ca3Sc2Si3O12 and Ca3Y2Si3O12 Were characterized by different crystal structures, as the fonmer is a cubic garnet, while the latter is an orthorhombic compound. We investigated the optical spectroscopy of these materials doped with several trivalent lanthanide ions and compared the results for the two hosts. PolycrystaUine samples were prepared by solid state reaction, both undoped and doped with the trivalent lanthanide ions Eu3＋, Tb3＋ and Sm3＋. Emission, excitation and Raman spectra of these materials were measured at temperatures ranging from 300 to 10 K. The optical spectra were assigned and discussed, and the effects of the crystal structure of the host on the spectroscopic behaviour were addressed. The technological potential of these compounds in the field of optical materials and devices was discussed,

The aim of the research was to evaluate, at site scale, the influence of freezing and freeze/thaw cycles on the survival of faecal coliforms and faecal enterococci in soil, in a climate change perspective. Before the winter period and during grazing, viable cells of faecal coliforms and faecal enterococci were detected only in the first 10 cm below ground, while,after the winter period and before the new seasonal grazing, a lower number of viable cells of both faecal indicators was detected only in some of the investigated soil profiles, and within the first 5 cm. Taking into consideration the results of specific investigations, we hypothesise that the non-uniform spatial distribution of grass roots within the studied soil can play an important role in influencing this phenomenon, while several abiotic factors do not play any significant role. Taking into account the local trend in the increase of air temperature, a different distribution of microbial pollution over time is expected in spring waters, in future climate scenarios. The progressive increase in air temperature will cause a progressive decrease in freeze/thaw cycles at higher altitudes, minimising cold shocks on microbial cells, and causing spring water pollution also during winter.
