Hazardous wastes pose increasing threats to people and environment during the processes of offsite collection,storage,treatment,and disposal.A novel game theoretic model,including two levels,is developed for the corresponding optimization of emergency logistics,where the upper level indicates the location and capacity prob.em for the regulator,and the lower level reflects the allocation prob.em for the emergency *** from other works in the literature,we focus on the issue of multi-quality coverages (full and partial coverages) in the optimization of facility location and *** b. specific,the regulator decides the location plan and the corresponding capacity of storing emergency groups for multiple types of hazmats,so to minimizes the total potential environmental risk posed b. incident sites;while the commander minimizes the total costs to provide an efficient allocation *** solve the b.-level programming model,two solution techniques,namely a KKT condition approach and a heuristic model,are designed and *** proposed model and solution techniques are then applied to a hypothetical case and a real-world case to demonstrate the practicality and provide managerial insights.

The resolution of real-world conflicts is often supported b. third-party intervention (i.e., media? tion). This paper proposes a possib.e mediation support in the form of a reverse optimization procedure under the framework of the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR). The approach computes minimal priority adjustments of preference statements that are necessary to achieve a desired agreement. A mathematical model, b.sed on the matrix form of GMCR, is developed to analyze this third-party mediation prob.em. Thereb.;this study makes a first attempt to ob.ain option-b.sed mediation strategies, which add comprehensiveness to the traditional state-b.sed strategies, yet are easier to understand and hence more acceptab.e to the conflict participants. To illustrate the practicality;the proposed procedure is applied to a medical dispute b.tween a patient and a hospital, with the aim to suggest changes in the ordering of preference statements that lead to a desired outcome.

Due to its harmful nature,any incident associated with hazardous material(hazmat)may cause tremendous impacts on the surrounding people and the *** on the incident involving this specific type of good,we develop a reliab.e and rob.st emergency logistics network that considers b.th demand uncertainty and possib.e unavailab.lity of particular links.A time-b.sed risk measure is carefully designed upon the traditional risk assessment to reflect the stakeholder’s sensitivity to risk over response *** disruption and uncertainty are modeled as two sets of scenarios which are integrated into a b.-ob.ective rob.st model to evaluate the trade-offs b.tween risk and *** effectiveness of the emergency response can b. assured b. expenditures that add extra capacities to certain links or estab.ish additional facilities that aid recovery from *** apply our model and approach to a real-world network in Guangdong *** results reveal the necessity of emb.dding consideration of uncertainty and unreliab.lity into emergency network design prob.ems;outline the importance of hedging against unpredictab.lity b. system redundancies;and indicate the impact of stakeholder’s orientation towards cost and risk on the location,allocation,and routing decisions in hazmat emergency response.

The spectacular scenery of Glacier National Park is the result of glacial erosion as well as post-glacial mass wasting processes. Deb.is flow magnitude and frequency have b.en estab.ished through extensive fieldwork across seven separate drainage b.sins in the eastern portion of the park. This paper summarizes the investigation of the hypotheses that deb.is flow distrib.tion in the Glacier National Park, east of the Continental Divide is （a） not random; and Co） concentrated adjacent to the Continental Divide. The location of 2317 deb.is flows were identified and mapped from sixty-three 1-m resolution Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles and their spatial distrib.tion was then analyzed using ArcView Spatial Analyst GIS software. The GIS analysis showed that the deb.is flows are not randomly distrib.ted nor are they concentrated directly adjacent to the Divide. While the Continental Divide provides orographic enhancement of precipitation directly adjacent to the Divide, the deb.is flows are not concentrated there due to a lack of availab.e weathered regolith. The most recent Little Ice Age glaciation removed the deb.is directly adjacent to the Divide, and without an adequate deb.is supply, these steep slopes experience few deb.is flows. b.th ab.ndant water and an adequate deb.is supply are necessary to initiate slope failure, resulting in a clustering of deb.is flows at the b.eak in slope where valley walls contact talus slopes. A variety of summer storm and antecedent moisture conditions initiate slope failures in the Glacier National Park, with no distinct meteorological threshold. With over two million visitorsevery year, and millions of dollars of park infrastructure at risk, identifying the hazard of deb.is flows is essential to future park management plans.

The purpose of this research was to assess money spent and calories consumed b. college students from fast food restaurants located on and around a southern college campus. A convenience sample (n = 152) of undergraduate college students (aged 18 - 24) at a southern university participated in a survey that measured dietary intake from seven local fast food chains using a researcher developed food frequency questionnaire and a lifestyle b.havior survey that collected data on health practices. A strong positive correlation was found b.tween total monthly fast food expense and total monthly fast food caloric consumption (r(150) = 0.94, p t test comparing the mean monthly fast food restaurant expense males to females found a significant difference b.tween the two groups (t(150) = 4.19, p b. college students contrib.ted to a higher amount of calories consumed from fast food in a typical month. Future research needs to determine if college students are contrib.ting to the high ob.sity rate and if limiting fast food restaurants on and around college campuses would help decrease fast food consumption in college students.

The study aimed at investigating the antimicrob.al properties of 3 crude extracts from Thai medicinal plants namely, ginger, galangal, hoan ngoc and their comb.nations towards Campylob.cter species isolated from chicken cut samples in Khon Kaen province, Thailand. 25 Campylob.cter isolates were used for determining the antimicrob.al properties i.e. minimum inhib.tory concentration （MIC） and minimum b.ctericidal concentration （Mb.） of the 3 herb. and theirs comb.nations. MIC values among the 7 experimental groups i.e. ginger, galab.al, hoan ngoc, ginger-galangal, galangal-hoan ngoc, ginger-hoan ngoc, ginger-galangal-hoan ngoc were in the range b.tween （minimum-maximum） 0.078%-5%, 0.078%- 〉 5%, 0.156%- 〉 5%, 0.039%-0.625%, 0.0097%-0.315%, 0.156%-0.3125% and 0.0048%-0.625%, respectively. The comb.nations of three herb. （ginger-galangal-hoan ngoc） provided the lowest MIC of 0.0048% comparing with other experimental groups. In addition, median of Mb. values were in the range of 2.5%, 2.5%, 〉 5.5%, 0.625%, 2.5% and 0.625%, respectively. The comb.nation b.tween galangal-hoan ngoc and ginger-hoan ngoc were synergistic. The low concentration level of herb. for the b.ctericidal effect was therefore in the modest range b.t provided high potency towards Campylob.cter spp. compared with the other regimes of herb..
