Background:The adoption of climate-smart agricultural(CSA)practices is expected to improve farmers’adaptation to climate change and also increase yields while simultaneously curbing greenhouse gas(GHG)*** paper explores the determinants of smallholder farmers’participation in GHG-emitting *** also estimates the impact of CSA activities on reducing GHG ***:The findings are based on survey data obtained from 350 smallholder farmers in the East Gonja district of Northern *** adopted the generalized Poisson regression model in identifying factors influencing farmers’participation in the GHG emission practices and inverse-probability-weighted regression adjustment(IPWRA)to estimate the impact of CSA adoption on GHG ***:Most farming households engaged in at least one emission *** findings of the generalized Poisson model found that wealthier households,higher education,and households with access to extension services were less likely to participate in GHG emission *** was also evidence that CSA adoption significantly reduces GHG ***:Advocacy in CSA adoption could be a necessary condition for environmental protection through the reduction of GHG emissions.

Objective: Physical assessment is an indispensable and pivotal skill that nurses must aptly monitor, evaluate, and deliver timely care, particularly in the context of critically ill patients. However, studies have revealed instances where nurses demonstrate inaccurate practices. This study is aimed to measure the physical assessment skills of critical care nurses and the differences between levels of nursing education. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted involving a simple random sample of 101 nurses employed in critical care units. Results: Of the 101 participants, 56.4% were identified as female and 43.6% were male. In the sample, 71.0% held a diploma in nursing, while 29.0% held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Vital signs, orientation, and skin assessments were performed correctly in ≥90% of cases, whereas the majority (≥60%) did not correctly assess neck veins, Homan’s signs, breath sounds, heart sounds, and bowel sounds. Only ≤10% of participants accurately executed these assessments. Significant associations were found between sex and pain (P=0.034), as well as between the type of education and closure of the health assessment (P=0.041). Further, female nurses scored 10.0 ± 2.3, and male nurses 8.5 ± 2.5, diploma holders scored 9.4 ± 1.8, and BSN holders scored 9.3 ± 2.7 at the global rating. Conclusions: The presence of an existing gap in the accurate assessment of patients poses a potential risk to patient care. It is essential to investigate the factors contributing to this gap and to develop strategies to address it, thereby enhancing the quality of physical assessment and ultimately improving patient care.

This article constructively challenges the often cited distinction between the so-called hazard and vulnerability perspectives in disaster *** a context of increasingly intertwined,dense,and complex socioeco-logical dynamics,disaster scholars often hold onto an apparently untenable distinction between nature and culture,manifested as either a hazard or a vulnerability *** article maintains that the typically undesired approach(the hazard approach)is inherent to the preferred(vulnerability)*** article builds on Oliver-Smith’s(2013)critique of the magnitude of requirements placed upon practitioners given the full implications of the vulnerability *** critical of the vulnerability perspective,this article does not fundamentally disagree with the validity of its ***,by drawing on the pragmatist philosophy of Rorty(1989)and by demonstrating the potential value of posthumanism for disaster studies,I wish to argue for greater pragmatism within disaster *** article considers the recent petition or manifesto for disaster studies(Gaillard et al.2019)for more inclusive disaster research as a potential opportunity to challenge the aforementioned nature-culture distinction in the field,as the petition signed by a number of disaster scholars outlines various concerns over the asymmetrical power relations between local and external *** power relations have adverse consequences for the appropriateness of knowledge production in many contexts.I am primarily ISI gideon van Riet ***@*** 1 School for Government Studies,North-West University,Potchefstroom 2531,Northwest Province,South Africa concerned with the very local level of disaster occurrence,where posthumanism might be most valuable.

Identifying how reproductive strategies such as the trade-off between clutch size versus egg mass vary with elevational gradients is essential for our understanding of life-history *** studied lacertid lizards(Eremias argus)in China,from six populations at different altitudes,to assess elevational variation in reproductive *** found significant between-population variation in maternal body size and clutch mass,but these variations were not explained by elevational ***,high-elevation females tended to produce smaller clutches of larger eggs compared with their low-elevation counterparts,demonstrating an elevational change in the trade-off between egg size and *** egg size-number trade-off is a reproductive strategy that may favor large offspring,better enabling them to survive severe and unpredictable environments found at high elevations.

Simulation studies on optimizing oil productivity in oil rim reservoirs under gas cap blow down production strategy

Gas cap blow down strategy is normally deployed for Ultra-thin oil rim reservoirs with huge gas caps due to extremely high gas oil ratios from wells in such *** current state leads to loss of production from the oil reserves due to high initial reservoir pressure thus,reducing its net present *** on important factors essential to the productivity of oil rim reservoirs are used to build a heterogeneous ultra-thin reservoir with a time step of 10,000 days using the Eclipse software and its embedded *** reservoir is subjected to a gas cap blowdown via a gas well,then an oil well is initiated into the model at onset and after time periods of 2000 days,4000 days,6000 days and 8000 days to estimate the oil *** is expected that due to the large nature of the gas cap,pressure decline will be drastic and leading to a low oil recovery,hence the injection of water and gas at different rates at the periods *** results indicate an oil recovery of 4.3%during gas cap blow down and 10.34%at 6000 *** oil recoveries of 12.64%and 10.80%are estimated under 30,000 Mscf/day at 4000 days and 1000 stb/day at 6000 days *** shows an incremental oil recovery of 8.34%and 6.5%over that recorded during gas cap blow *** results also indicate that the gas production at those periods was not greatly affected with an estimated increment of 257 Bscf recorded during 30,000 Mscf/day at 4000 *** secondary injection schemes at the respective time steps had positive impact on the overall oil *** is recommended that extra production and injection wells be drilled,enhanced oil recovery options and injection patterns be considered to further increase oil recovery.
