The precision livestock farming(PLF)has the objective to maximize each animal's performance while reducing the environmental impact and maintaining the quality and safety of meat *** the PLF techniques,the personalised management of each individual animal based on sensors systems,represents a viable *** is worth noting that the implementation of an effective PLF approach can be still expensive,especially for small and medium-sized farms;for this reason,to guarantee the sustainability of a customized livestock management system and encourage its use,plug and play and cost-effective systems are *** this context,we present a novel low-cost method for identifying beef cattle and recognizing their basic activities by a single surveillance *** leveraging the current state-of-the-art methods for real-time object detection,(i.e.,YOLOv3)cattle's face areas,we propose a novel mechanism able to detect the ear tag as well as the water ingestion state when the cattle is close to the *** cow IDs are read by an Optical Character Recognition(OCR)algorithm for which,an ad hoc error correction algorithm is here presented to avoid numbers misreading and correctly match the IDs to only actually present *** to the detection of the tag position,the OCR algorithm can be applied only to a specific region of interest reducing the computational cost and the time *** times for the areas are outputted as cattle activity recognition *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method,showing a mAP@0.50 of 89%.

Detecting patterns of climate change in long-term forecasts of marine environmental parameters

Forecasting environmental parameters in the distant future requires complex modelling and large computational *** to the sensitivity and complexity of forecast models,long-term parameter forecasts(*** to 2100)are uncommon and only produced by a few organisations,in heterogeneous formats and based on different assumptions of greenhouse gases ***,data mining techniques can be used to coerce the data to a uniform time and spatial representation,which facilitates their use in many *** this paper,streams of big data coming from AquaMaps and NASA collections of 126 long-term forecasts of nine types of environmental parameters are processed through a cloud computing platform in order to(i)standardise and harmonise the data representations,(ii)produce intermediate scenarios and new informative parameters,and(iii)align all sets on a common time and spatial *** series crosscorrelation applied to these aligned datasets reveals patterns of climate change and similarities between parameter trends in 10 marine *** results highlight that(i)the Mediterranean Sea may have a standalone‘response’to climate change with respect to other areas,(ii)the Poles are most representative of global forecasted change,and(iii)the trends are generally alarming for most oceans.

From unstructured texts to semantic story maps

Digital maps greatly support storytelling about territories,especially when enriched with data describing cultural,societal,and ecological aspects,conveying emotional messages that describe the territory as a *** maps are interactive online digital narratives that can describe a territory beyond its map by enriching the map with text,pictures,videos,and other multimedia *** paper presents a semi-automatic workflow to produce story maps from textual documents containing territory *** expertfirst assembles one territory-contextual document containing text and ***,automatic processes use natural language processing and Wikidata services to(i)extract key concepts(entities)and geospatial coordinates associated with the territory,(ii)assemble a logically-ordered sequence of enriched story-map events,and(iii)openly publish online story maps and an interoperable Linked Open Data semantic knowledge base for event exploration and inter-story correlation *** workflow uses an Open Science-oriented methodology to publish all processes and *** our workflow,we produced story maps for the value chains and territories of 23 rural European areas of 16 *** numerical evaluation,we demonstrated that territory experts considered the story maps effective in describing their territories,and appropriate for communicating with citizens and stakeholders.

A Path Integral Generalization of Bell Local Hidden Variable Models for Unstable Particles

We discuss the problem of the generalization of Bell local hidden variable models for unstable particles as nucleons or decaying quantum bound states. We propose to extend the formalism of real deterministic hidden variables in the complex domain, in analogy with the quantum Gamow ket formalism, and we introduce a time dependent classical probability density distribution by which we implement hidden time dependence in the quantum expectation values. We suggest therefore a classical framework which may recover by asymptotic temporal limits the standard Bell stationary quantum statistical averages. Endly we discuss the possible relevance of our proposal for general non-isolated quantum systems in noninertial frames and the consequent dynamic effects of vacuum instabilities on E.P.R tests and Q.M. ensemble statistical averages.

Vacuum Correlations, Detector Efficiency Fluctuations and Classical Dynamic Violations of CH-Inequality

We study in this paper the possible influence of vacuum fluctuations on photo detection and its background noise in Bell tests. We analyze its consequences on the standard statistical analysis of data showing that it is not fulfilled anymore the conventional hypothesis of a Poisson like probability density distribution of single photodetection events. We assume that vacuum fluctuations are due to real and measurable fluctuating fields, as recently confirmed experimentally, and that their non null correlations outside the light cone contribute to photon coincidence rates making them time dependent. We introduce a generalized Bell like correlation function which contains a new term due to supposed vacuum induced photon counting events. We deduce then a generalization of CH-inequality which takes in account the effect of these vacuum electric fields on detector efficiency. We predict an apparatus temperature fluctuations during photon detection which we suggest could be observed by looking for colored noise thermal emission of the photodetectors, generalizing the standard white noise prediction of C.S.L. models on wave function collapse postulate. We discuss an experimental test of this prediction, based on the idea of inducing a thermal wave on the whole quantum detectors, aimed to observe time dependent deviations from standard stationary statistical predictions of Quantum Mechanics.

A Thermal Analogue of the Zel’Dovich Effect

We analyze in this work anisotropic heat conduction induced by a harmonically oscillating laser source incident on rotating conductors, exploiting an analogy with an effect discovered long ago, called the Zel’dovich effect. We re-covered the main results of a recently published paper that predicts the translational Doppler frequency shift of a thermal wave induced on a sample moving with uniform rectilinear motion. We extend then this framework to take into account the frequency shift of a thermal field propagating on a rotating platform. We show that it coincides with the rotational frequency shift which has been recently observed on surface acoustic waves and hydrodynamic surface waves, called rotational superradiance. Finally, we use an analogy with the Tolman effect to deduce a simple estimate of the average temperature gradient induced by rotation, showing the existence of a new cooling effect associated with heat torque transfer.

Vacuum Dependent Bell Local Hidden Variable Models and Generalized C.H.S.H. Inequalities

We extend a previous model of the author which generalizes Bell local hidden variable models to the case of entangled photon pairs assuming that the standard Bell correlation functions depend on a hidden vacuum index. We deduce a generalization of Bell theorem assuming that classical observables are not dichotomic and that photon pair emission and detection is not a stationary stochastic process. We derive a photon imperfect polarization correlation functions due to rotational invariance breaking induced by hidden vacuum spin currents. We implement formally this approach deducing a generalization of C.H.S.H. inequalities which asymptotically converges to the standard one and which might be competitive with standard quantum mechanics predictions. We suggest to test this inequalities conceiving new E.P.R.-Bell like tests with time dependent detector efficiency and photon flux. Finally, we suggest to apply these generalized inequalities to the correlation functions of entangled classical spinning waves realized recently with metamaterials.

Fluoroquinolone-macrolide combination therapy for chronic bacterial prostatitis： retrospective analysis of pathogen eradication rates, inflammatory findings and sexual dysfunction

We previously demonstrated the safety and efficacy of fluoroquinolone-macrolide combination therapy in category Ⅱ chronic bacterial prostatitis （CBP）. The aim of this study is to retrospectively compare the microbiological and clinical findings of two treatment schemes for CBP based on the combination of azithromycin （500 rag, thrice-weekly） with a once-daily 500- or 750-mg dose of ciprofloxacin （Cipro-500 or Cipro-750 cohort, respectively）. Combined administration of azithromycin （1500 mg week^-1） with ciprofloxacin at the rate of 750 mg day^- 1 for 4 weeks rather than at 500 mg day^- 1 for 6 weeks increased the eradication rates from 62.35% to 77.32% and the total bacteriological success from 71.76% to 85.57%. A significant decrease in pain and voiding signs/symptoms and a significant reduction in inflammatory leukocyte counts and serum prostate-specific antigen （PSA） were sustained throughout an 18-month follow-up period in both groups. Ejaculatory pain, haemospermia and premature ejaculation were significantly attenuated on microbiological eradication in both groups, but the latter subsided more promptly in the Cipro-750 cohort. In total, 59 Cipro-750 patients showed mild-to-severe erectile dysfunction （ED） at baseline, while 22 patients had no ED on microbiological eradication and throughout the follow-up period. In conclusion fluoroquinolone-macrolide therapy resulted in pathogen eradication and CBP symptom attenuation, including pain, voiding disturbances and sexual dysfunction. A once-daily 750-mg dose of ciprofloxacin for 4 weeks showed enhanced eradication rates and lower inflammatory white blood cell counts compared to the 500-mg dose for 6 weeks. Our results are open to further prospective validation.
