Low-temperature replacement construction of three-dimensional corrosion-resistant interface for deeply rechargeable Zn metal batteries

Aqueous Zn batteries are promising candidates for grid-scale renewable energy *** electrodes have been widely investigated and applied as anode materials for aqueous Zn batteries,however,they suffer from limited surface area and severe interfacial issues including metallic dendrites and corrosion side reactions,limiting the depth of discharge(DOD)of the foil electrode ***,a low-temperature replacement reaction is utilized to in-situ construct a three-dimensional(3D)corrosion-resistant interface for deeply rechargeable Zn foil ***,the deliberate low-temperature environment controlled the replacement rate between polycrystalline Zn metal and oxalic acid,producing a Zn foil electrode with distinct 3D corrosion-resistant interface(3DCI-Zn),which differed from conventional two-dimensional(2D)protective structure and showed an order of magnitude higher surface ***,the 3DCI-Zn electrode exhibited dendrite-free and anticorrosion properties,and achieved stable plating/stripping performance for 1000 h at 10 mA cm^(-2)and 10 mAh cm^(-2)with a remarkable DOD of 79%.After pairing with a MnO2cathode with a high areal capacity of 4.2 mAh cm^(-2),the pouch cells delivered 168 Wh L^(-1)and a capacity retention of 89.7%after 100 cycles with a low negative/positive(N/p)ratio of 3:1.

Realizing the full potential of ultrahigh-intensity lasers for particle and radiation generation will require multi-beam arrangements due to technology ***,we investigate how to optimize their coupling with solid ***,we show that overlapping two intense lasers in a mirror-like configuration onto a solid with a large preplasma can greatly improve the generation of hot electrons at the target front and ion acceleration at the target *** underlying mechanisms are analyzed through multidimensional particle-in-cell simulations,revealing that the self-induced magnetic fields driven by the two laser beams at the target front are susceptible to reconnection,which is one possible mechanism to boost electron *** addition,the resistive magnetic field generated during the transport of the hot electrons in the target bulk tends to improve their *** simulations also indicate that such effects can be further enhanced by overlapping more than two laser beams.

A theory of very short-time price change:security price drivers in times of high-frequency trading

Academic research has identified several factors that affect price movements;however,the scenario changes abruptly in the case of very short time price changes(VSTpC).This topic is not specifically examined in the existing literature;nonetheless,the behavior of the market microstructure is quite different at the subsecond ***,below a certain psychological time threshold,most factors typically influencing price changes cease to *** paper analyzes several parameters considered to affect price changes and identifies four of them as potentially influencing *** factors are previous volatility,scarce liquidity,high quantity exchanged,and stop-loss(SL)orders(seldom mentioned in the literature).These four parameters are examined by means of a mathematical model,audit trail data analysis,Granger-causality testing,and agent-based *** results of these four techniques converge to suggest a nonlinear combination of previous volatility,liquidity,and SL orders as the main causes of excess ***,contrary to mainstream literature on trading time above a certain psychological threshold,the volumes exchanged are not integral agents for ***,financial markets face many ultrafast orders,yet a coherent theory of price change at time scales incomprehensible by humans and only manageable by computers is still *** theory presented in this paper attempts to fill this *** outcome of such a theory is important for purposes of market stability,crisis avoidance,investment planning,risk management,and high-frequency trading.

Intra-cycle depolarization of ultraintense laser pulses focused by off-axis parabolic mirrors

A study of the structure of the electric and magnetic fields of ultraintense laser pulses focused by an off-axis parabolic mirror is reported. At first, a theoretical model is laid out, whose final equations integration allows the space and time structure of the fields to be retrieved. The model is then employed to investigate the field patterns at different times within the optical cycle, for off-axis parabola parameters normally employed in the context of ultraintense laser–plasma interaction experiments. The results show that nontrivial, complex electromagnetic field patterns are observed at the time at which the electric and magnetic fields are supposed to vanish. The importance of this effect is then studied for different laser polarizations, f numbers and off-axis angles.

Density and temperature of fermions and bosons from quantum fluctuations

A novel method to determine the density and temperature of a system constituted by fermions and/or bosons is proposed based on quantum *** fermions system,the results in the limit where the reached temperature T is small and where there is no constraint for the reached temperature T compared to the Fermi energy εf at a given density ρ are given,*** and multiplicity fluctuation relations are derived in terms of T/ε*** compared the two set results in the limit when T is much smaller compared to Fermi energy εf and they are consistent,as *** classical limit is also obtained for high temperatures and low *** bosons system,quadrupole and multiplicity fluctuations using Landau's theory of fluctuations near the critical point for a Bose-Einstein condensate(BEC) at a given density ρ are *** an example,we apply our approach to heavy ion collisions using the Constrained Molecular Dynamics model(CoMD) which includes the fermionic *** multiplicity fluctuation quenching for fermions is found in the model and confirmed by experimental *** reproduce the available experimental data better,we propose a modification of the collision term in the approach to include the possibility of α-α *** relevant Bose-Einstein factor in the collision term is properly taken into *** approach increases the yields of bosons relative to fermions closer to *** fluctuations become larger than one as expected.

The performances of the Color-Gradient(CG)and the Shan-Chen(SC)multicomponent Lattice Boltzmann models are quantitatively compared side-by-side on multiple physical flow problems where breakup,coalescence and contraction of fluid ligaments are *** flow problems are relevant to microfluidic applications,jetting of microdroplets as seen in inkjet printing,as well as emulsion dynamics.A significantly wider range of parameters is shown to be accessible for CG in terms of density-ratio,viscosity-ratio and surface tension *** stability for a high density ratio O(1000)is required for simulating the drop formation process during inkjet printing which we show here to be achievable using the CG model but not using the SC *** results show that the CG model is a suitable choice for challenging simulations of droplet formation,due to a combination of both numerical stability and physical *** also present a novel approach to incorporate repulsion forces between interfaces for CG,with possible applications to the study of stabilized ***,we show that the CG model can produce similar results to a known multirange potentials extension of the SC model for modelling a disjoining pressure,opening up its use for the study of dense stabilized emulsions.

We show that the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)based color-gradient model with a central moments formulation(CG-CM)is capable of accurately simulating the droplet-on-demand inkjetting process on a micrometer length scale by comparing it to the Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian Finite Element Method(ALE-FEM).A full jetting cycle is simulated using both CG-CM and ALE-FEMand results are quantitatively compared by measuring the ejected ink velocity,volume and contraction *** also show that the individual relevant physical phenomena are accurately captured by considering three test-cases;droplet oscillation,ligament contraction and capillary *** first two cases test accuracy for a dynamic system where surface tension is the driving force and the third case is designed to test wetting boundary *** the first two cases we also compare the CG-CM and ALE-FEM results to Volume of Fluid(VOF)*** of the three methods shows close agreement when compared to each other and analytical solutions,where *** we demonstrate that asymmetric jetting is achievable using 3D CG-CM simulations utilizing asymmetric wetting conditions inside the *** allows for systematic investigation into the physics of asymmetric jetting,*** to jet-nozzle manufacturing imperfections or due to other disturbances.

Objective: To evaluate transperineal laser ablation (TpLA) with Echolaser® (Echolaser® TpLA, Elesta S.p.A., Calenzano, Italy) as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BpH) and prostate cancer (pCa) using the Delphi consensus ***: Italian and international experts on BpH and pCa participated in a collaborative consensus project. During two rounds, they expressed their opinions on Echolaser® TpLA for the treatment of BpH and pCa answering online questionnaires on indications, methodology, and potential complications of this technology. Level of agreement or disagreement to reach consensus was set at 75%. If the consensus was not achieved, questions were modified after each round. A final round was performed during an online meeting, in which results were discussed and ***: Thirty-two out of forty invited experts participated and consensus was reached on all topics. Agreement was achieved on recommending Echolaser® TpLA as a treatment of BpH in patients with ample range of prostate volume, from 80 mL (80%), comorbidities (100%), antiplatelet or anticoagulant treatment (96%), indwelling catheter (77%), and strong will of preserving ejaculatory function (100%). Majority of respondents agreed that Echolaser® TpLA is a potential option for the treatment of localized pCa (78%) and recommended it for low-risk pCa (90%). During the final round, experts concluded that it can be used for intermediate-risk pCa and it should be proposed as an effective alternative to radical prostatectomy for patients with strong will of avoiding urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction.
