Julolidine-labelled fluorinated block copolymers for the development of two-layer films with highly sensitive vapochromic response

Fluorinated block copolymers composed of a polystyrene(Sx) first block and a polyacrylate second block carrying hydrophobic/lipophobic perfluorohexyl side chains(AF) were prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP). Fluorescence emission properties were imparted to the copolymers by incorporation in the second block of a julolidine-based fluorescent molecular rotor(JCBF). The synthesized block copolymers were used as the fluorescent low-surface energy thin top-layer onto a polystyrene bottom-layer to produce novel two-layer film vapochromic sensors. Contact angle and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) measurements revealed that the two-layer film surfaces were hydrophobic and lipophobic at the same time and highly enriched in fluorine content as a result of the effective segregation of the perfluorinated tails to the polymer-air *** fluorescence intensity of the two-layer films decreased significantly when they were exposed to vapours of organic solvents,including tetrahydrofurane, chloroform, and trifluorotoluene. However, an AF content-dependent sensing behaviour was also observed, with the two-layer films containing the copolymer with the shorter fluorinated block giving a more rapid and almost quantitative decrease in fluorescence variation. Fluorescence emission of the films was also proved to vary with *** the vapochromic and thermochromic responses were reversible after successive solicitation cycles. The fluorescence variation of the two-layer films was much more marked than that of the corresponding PS/JCBF blend, thus providing a system potentially applicable as highly sensitive volatile organic compound(VOC) sensor, thanks to the active role of the fluorinated block in promoting the migration of the fluorophore to the outermost surface layers.

Twenty shopping streets in Tokyo,Japan,were analyzed based on pedestrian vibrancy and visual information by assessing physical dimensions,objects,shops and quantity of pedestrians and walking *** survey recorded 12-h periods of a typical weekday by tracking daily variations between July 3rd to August 3rd,2017 and October 13th to November 10th,*** analysis,Hierarchical Cluster and discriminant Analyses were performed using the statistical software,SPSS *** study classifies four dusters of shopping streets accordingly to pedestrian vibrancy as eccentric,with large street dimensions and big retailing shops;strong,with variety of specialized daily life stores,balanced,with lower specialized daily life stores,closer residential area and moderate numbers of flower pots;and weakened,with very few shops,residential predominance and higher numbers of flower *** indicate that larger street dimensions together with specialization of shops,rather than variety or number,are prone to slow walking speeds and larger numbers of ***,it was noticeable the connection of number of flower pots with proximity of residential *** could be theorized that pedestrian vibrancy correlates inversely to the proximity of residential *** closer residential area is the lowest pedestrian vibrancy would be.

Collaborative Robotics is one of the high-interest research topics in the area of academia and *** has been progressively utilized in numerous applications,particularly in intelligent surveillance *** allows the deployment of smart cameras or optical sensors with computer vision techniques,which may serve in several object detection and tracking *** tasks have been considered challenging and high-level perceptual problems,frequently dominated by relative information about the environment,where main concerns such as occlusion,illumination,background,object deformation,and object class variations are *** order to show the importance of top view surveillance,a collaborative robotics framework has been *** can assist in the detection and tracking of multiple objects in top view *** framework consists of a smart robotic camera embedded with the visual processing *** existing pre-trained deep learning models named SSD and YOLO has been adopted for object detection and *** detection models are further combined with different tracking algorithms,including GOTURN,MEdiANFLOW,TLD,KCF,MIL,and *** algorithms,along with detection models,help to track and predict the trajectories of detected *** pre-trained models are employed;therefore,the generalization performance is also investigated through testing the models on various sequences of top view data *** detection models achieved maximum True Detection Rate 93%to 90%with a maximum 0.6%False Detection *** tracking results of different algorithms are nearly identical,with tracking accuracy ranging from 90%to 94%.Furthermore,a discussion has been carried out on output results along with future guidelines.

Metapopulations are ecological models describing the interactions and the behavior of populations living in fragmented habitats. In this paper, metapopulations are modelled by means of dynamical probabilistic P systems, where additional structural features have been defined (e.g., a weighted graph associated with the membrane structure and the reduction of maximal parallelism). In particular, we investigate the influence of stochastic and periodic resource feeding processes, owing to seasonal variance, on emergent metapopulation dynamics.

In this paper, we are interested in answering the following research question: "Is it possible to form effective groups in virtual communities by exploiting trust information without significant overhead, similarly to real user communities?"In order to answer this question, instead of adopting the largely used approach of exploiting the opinions provided by all the users of the community(called global reputation), we propose to use a particular form of reputation, called local reputation. We also propose an algorithm for group formation able to implement the proposed procedure to form effective groups in virtual communities. Another interesting question is how to measure the effectiveness of groups in virtual communities. To this aim we introduce the index in a measure of the effectiveness of the group formation. We tested our algorithm by realizing some experimental trials on real data from the real world EPINIONS and CIAO communities, showing the significant advantages of our procedure w.r.t. another prominent approach based on traditional global reputation.

Microlens array-based light-field imaging has been one of the most commonly used and effective technologies to record high-dimensional optical signals for developing various potential high-performance applications in many ***,the use of a microlens array generally suffers from an intrinsic trade-off between the spatial and angular *** this paper,we concentrate on exploiting a diffuser to explore a novel modality for light-field *** demonstrate that the diffuser can efficiently angularly couple incident light rays into a detected image without needing any *** characterize and analyse this phenomenon,we establish a diffuser-encoding light-field transmission model,in which four-dimensional light fields are mapped into two-dimensional images via a transmission matrix describing the light propagation through the ***,a calibration strategy is designed to flexibly determine the transmission matrix,so that light rays can be computationally decoupled from a detected image with adjustable spatio-angular resolutions,which are unshackled from the resolution limitation of the *** proof-of-concept approach indicates the possibility of using scattering media for lensless four-dimensional light-field recording and processing,not just for two-or three-dimensional imaging.
