Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)exhibits a greater capacity for cadmium(Cd)absorption compared to other cereal crops,leading to elevated daily Cd intake,and posing a signiﬁcant threat to public *** the mitigation of Cd stress in sustainable and environmentally friendly way,a pot study was designed by using exogenous application of various biostimulants,i.e.,Nigella sativa and Ocimum sanctum extracts:0%,10%,and 20%in combination with the chelating agent ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA)using 0 and 5 mg kg^(-1) under various levels of Cd stress(i.e.,0,5,10,and 15 mg kg^(-1) soil).Results revealed that Cd stress signiﬁcantly reduced the seed emergence,growth,root,and allometric characters and yield-related parameters of wheat *** most observable reduc-tion was documented in wheat plants exposed to a higher Cd concentration(15 mg kg^(-1)),followed by the lower Cd level(control).The combined application of bio-stimulants and EDTA minimized the negative impacts of Cd *** highest increase in seedling emergence(5.44%),leaf area(50.60%),number of tillers(31.02%),grain yield per plant(24.28%),biological yield(13.97%),and decrease in Cd levels in grains(40%)was noticed where 20%foliar application of *** and 10%of *** biostimulants were done using 5 mg kg^(-1) of soil-applied *** intervention demonstrated a notable reduction in Cd-induced negative effects,highlighting the potential of these substances in promoting sustainable wheat cultivation in contaminated ***,it is an eco-friendly and approachable method at theﬁeld level able to ensure food safety.

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has brought the new challenges to scientific research. Isodon suzhouensis has good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant stress effects， which is considered as a potential treatment for COVID-19. The possibility for the treatment of COVID-19 with suzhouensis and its potential mechanism of action were explored by employing molecular docking and network pharmacology. Network pharmacology and molecular docking were used to screen drug targets， and Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced RAW264.7 and NR8383 cells inflammation model was used for experimental verification. Collectively a total of 209 possible linkages against 18 chemical components from suzhouensis and 1194 COVID-19 related targets were selected. Among these， 164 common targets were obtained from the intersection of suzhouensis and COVID-19. GO and KEGG enriched 582 function targets and 87 target proteins pathways， respectively. The results from molecular docking studies revealed that rutin， vitexin， isoquercitrin and quercetin had significant binding ability with SARS-CoV-23CLpro and ACE2. In vitro studies showed that Isodon suzhouensis extract (ISE) may inhibit the activation of PI3K/Akt pathway and the expression level of downstream pro-inflammatory factors by inhibiting the activation of EGFR in RAW264.7 cells induced by LPS. In addition， ISE was able to inhibit the activation of TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in NR8383 cells exposed to LPS. Overall， the network pharmacology and in vitro studies conclude that active components from suzhouensis have strong therapeutic potential against COVID-19 through multi-target， multi-pathway dimensions and can be a promising candidate against COVID-19.

Inflammation plays a significant role in the etiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).The rise in the pro-inflammatory cytokines is the essential step in glucotoxicity and lipotoxicity induced mitochondrial injury,oxidative stress and beta cell apoptosis in T2 *** the recognized markers are interleukin(IL)-6,IL-1,IL-10,IL-18,tissue necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),C-reactive protein,resistin,adiponectin,tissue plasminogen activator,fibrinogen and *** mellitus has firm genetic and very strong environmental influence; exhibiting a polygenic mode of *** single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in various genes including those of pro and antiinflammatory cytokines have been reported as a risk for T2 *** all the SNPs have been confirmed by unifying results in different studies and wide variations have been reported in various ethnic *** inter-ethnic variations can be explained by the fact that gene expression may be regulated by gene-gene,gene-environment and gene-nutrient *** review highlights the impact of these interactions on determining the role of single nucleotide polymorphism of IL-6,TNF-α,resistin and adiponectin in pathogenesis of T2 DM.

Infertility represents a significant health concern,with sperm quantity and quality being crucial determinants of male ***(OAT)is characterized by reduced sperm motility,lower sperm concentration,and morphological abnormalities in sperm heads and *** variants in several genes have been implicated in OAT,its genetic etiologies and pathogenetic mechanisms remain inadequately *** this study,we identified a homozygous nonsense mutation(c.916C>T,***306*)in the coiled-coil domain containing 146(CCDC146)gene in an infertile male patient with *** mutation resulted in the production of a truncated CCDC146 protein(amino acids 1-305),retaining only two out of five coiled-coil *** validate the pathogenicity of the CCDC146 mutation,we generated a mouse model(Ccdc146^(mut/mut))with a similar mutation to that of the ***,the Ccdc146mut/mut mice exhibited infertility,characterized by significantly reduced sperm counts,diminished motility,and multiple defects in sperm heads and ***,the levels of axonemal proteins,including DNAH17,DNAH1,and SPAG6,were significantly reduced in the sperm of Ccdc146^(mut/mut) ***,both human and mouse CCDC146 interacted with intraflagellar transport protein 20(IFT20),but this interaction was lost in the mutated versions,leading to the degradation of *** study identified a novel deleterious homozygous nonsense mutation in CCDC146 that causes male infertility,potentially by disrupting axonemal protein *** findings offer valuable insights for genetic counseling and understanding the mechanisms underlying CCDC146 mutant-associated infertility in human males.

芦苇(Phragmites australis)是崇明东滩湿地潮间带的优势种,具有良好的水土保持与净化功能。芦苇种群主要在中、高潮滩呈带状分布,但在低潮滩也有小斑块状分布。作为典型根茎型克隆植物的芦苇种群,在盐沼湿地不同潮滩表现出怎样的种群动态特征,进而反映出怎样的差异化的适应能力,值得深入研究。以分布在崇明东滩湿地低、中、高3个潮滩上的芦苇种群为研究对象,全程定位追踪起始于4、6月的同生群在整个生长季的生长、发育过程,并定量分析它们的动态生命表、生存曲线、生存率和累积死亡率,系统揭示分布于3个潮滩的芦苇种群典型动态特征。结果表明:(1)起始于4月的处于低、中、高3个潮滩上的芦苇同生群,其生存曲线存在差异,它们分别趋近于Deevey-Ⅰ型、Deevey-Ⅱ型和Ⅲ型的过渡型,以及Deevey-Ⅰ型和Ⅱ型的过渡型;(2)起始于6月的处于低、中潮滩上的芦苇同生群,其生存曲线呈现出与4月同生群相似的特征,高潮滩同生群则由Deevey-Ⅰ型和Ⅱ型的过渡型转变成Deevey-Ⅱ型和Ⅲ型的过渡型;(3)经综合分析,高潮滩芦苇同生群稳定性最强,低潮滩同生群相对不稳定,中潮滩同生群在生长初期不稳定而在生长中后期趋于稳定;(4)基于上述研究结果,针对东滩湿地沿潮滩梯度分布的芦苇种群的保育与管理提出了合理建议。

BACKGROUND Peptic ulcer disease(PUD)remains a significant healthcare burden,contributing to morbidity and mortality *** advancements in therapies,its prevalence persists,particularly in regions with widespread nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)use and Helicobacter pylori *** To comprehensively analyse the risk factors and outcomes of PUD-related upper gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding in Pakistani *** This retrospective cohort study included 142 patients with peptic ulcer bleeding who underwent upper GI endoscopy from January to December *** on demographics,symptoms,length of stay,mortality,re-bleed,and Forrest classification was *** The mean age of patients was 53 years,and the majority was men(68.3%).Hematemesis(82.4%)and epigastric pain(75.4%)were the most common presenting *** patients(73.2%)were discharged within five *** mortality rates at one week and one month were 10.6%and 14.8%,***-bleed within 24 h and seven days occurred in 14.1%and 18.3%of patients,*** ulcers were Forrest class(FC)Ⅲ(72.5%).Antiplatelet use was associated with higher mortality at 7 and 30 d,while alternative medications were linked to higher 24-hour re-bleed *** use was associated with more FCⅢ***-bleed at 24 h and 7 d was strongly associated with one-week or one-month *** Antiplatelet use and rebleeding increase the risk of early mortality in PUD-related upper GI bleeding,while alternative medicines are associated with early rebleeding.

Pyridine-Thiourea Based High Performance Polymers: Synthesis and Characterization

A novel diamine monomer, pyridine-2, 6-bis（（4-aminophenyl）thioureido）carbonyl（PATC） was synthesized efficiently and polymerized with various aromatic dianhydrides. Consequently, poly（pyridine thiourea-imide）s（PPTIs） with good thermal properties and flame retardancy were fabricated. The structures of PATC and PPTIs were characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectroscopy along with elemental analysis, crystallinity, organosolubility, inherent viscosity and gel permeation chromatographic measurements. PPTIs containing C=S, CONH and meta substituted pyridine moieties in the polymer backbone showed amorphous nature and were readily soluble in highly polar organic solvents and even in less polar solvents such as tetrahydrofuran（THF）. Polymers had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.91-1.16 d L/g and molecular weight was found between 68000-77000 g/mol. The electrical properties of the PPTIs were estimated in terms of dielectric constant over a range of frequencies. Their thermal stability was determined by 10% weight loss temperature found in the range of 519-563 °C under inert atmosphere. The glass transition temperature of the polyimides varied between 247 °C and 267 °C. The flame retardant properties of PPTIs were investigated in terms of limiting oxygen index（LOI） which was found in the range of 38.26-39.95. Introduction of thiourea in the polymer backbone is an effective way to improve the thermal stability and flame retardancy. Thus PATC can be considered as an excellent candidate for the synthesis of high performance polymers.

Depression is a mental psychological disorder that may cause a physical disorder or lead to *** is highly impactful on the socialeconomical life of a person;therefore,its effective and timely detection is *** speech and gait,facial expressions have valuable clues to *** study proposes a depression detection system based on facial expression *** features have been used for depression detection using Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).We extracted micro-expressions using Facial Action Coding System(FACS)as Action Units(AUs)correlated with the sad,disgust,and contempt features for depression detection.A CNN-based model is also proposed in this study to auto classify depressed subjects from images or videos in *** have been performed on the dataset obtained from Bahawal Victoria Hospital,Bahawalpur,Pakistan,as per the patient health questionnaire depression scale(PHQ-8);for inferring the mental condition of a *** experiments revealed 99.9%validation accuracy on the proposed CNN model,while extracted features obtained 100%accuracy on ***,the results proved the superiority of the reported approach over state-of-the-art methods.
