Characterization and Comparison of Commercial Chinese Cereal and European Grape Vinegars Using ^1H NMR Spectroscopy Combined with Multivariate Analysis

A holistic and comparative quality assessment of vinegars from different countries is needed with international trade of vinegar become frequent. In this study, compounds characterization and comparison of commercial-grade Chinese cereal and European grape vinegars were performed using ^1H NMR spectroscopy coupled with principal component analysis （PCA） and orthogonal projection to latent structures discriminate analysis （OPLS-DA）. The results showed that Balsamic vinegars of Modena were clearly discriminated by higher amount of fructose and glucose, while Chinese aromatic vinegar and aged vinegars were characterized by higher amount of amino acids, volatile compounds, succinate and betaine. On the other hand, flavoring compounds in Chinese rice vinegar and European wine vinegars are less than the others. These characteristic components are associated with the special raw materials and producing process of each types of vinegar and endow them special flavor. The results obtained in this study provide a global insight into vinegar through a ^1H NMR based compounds analysis that allows a holistic quality assessment and comparison of vinegars from different manufacture origins.

Pattern of bony injuries among civilian gunshot victims at tertiary care hospital in Karachi, Pakistan

Purpose:Firearm injuries impose a continuous economic burden on society and hospital resources. The aim of this study was to assess the pattern of bony injuries among victims of gunshots.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted in the Department of Orthopedics, Dow University of Health Sciences and Civil Hospital Karachi from January 2011 to December 2012. Patients with isolated bony injuries were included while patients with other systemic injuries were excluded.Results:There were 90 cases and the majority of them were male (84.4%). Mean age was (32.52 ± 10.27) years. Most of the patients (72.2%) belong to the younger age group. A low velocity weapon was used in 61 (67.8%) cases and a high velocity weapon was used in 29 (32.2%) cases. Armed robbery (64.4%) was the cause of conflict in more than half of the cases. Lower limb was involved in 72.2%. Fifty eight (64.4%) patients remained hospitalized for 15-20 days and others for more than 20 days. Internal fixation with intramedullary nailing was done in 35 patients while K-wire was used in 5 patients. Fifty patients were managed with external fixation, either uniplanar or multiplanar ilizarov. Deep wound infection and nonunion were observed more often in high velocity injuries.Conclusion:Armed robbery was the leading cause of gunshot bony injuries in our hospital. Young males were victimized in a majority of cases. High velocity injuries were associated with more complications.

In this paper, we propose a three point approximating subdivision scheme, with three shape parameters, that unifies three different existing three point approximating schemes. Some sufficient conditions for subdivision curve C0 to C3 continuity and convergence of the scheme for generating tensor product surfaces for certain ranges of parameters by using Laurent polynomial method are discussed. The systems of curve and surface design based on our scheme have been developed successfully in garment CAD especially for clothes modelling.

The internet,particularly online social networking platforms have revolutionized the way extremist groups are influencing and radicalizing *** research reveals that the process initiates by exposing vast audiences to extremist content and then migrating potential victims to confined platforms for intensive ***,social networks have evolved as a persuasive tool for extremism aiding as recruitment platform and psychological ***,recognizing potential radical text or material is vital to restrict the circulation of the extremist *** aim of this research work is to identify radical text in social *** contributions are as follows:(i)A new dataset to be employed in radicalization detection;(ii)In depth analysis of new and previous datasets so that the variation in extremist group narrative could be identified;(iii)An approach to train classifier employing religious features along with radical features to detect radicalization;(iv)Observing the use of violent and bad words in radical,neutral and random groups by employing violent,terrorism and bad words *** research results clearly indicate that incorporating religious text in model training improves the accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-score of the *** a variation in extremist narrative has been observed implying that usage of new dataset can have substantial effect on classifier *** addition to this,violence and bad words are creating a differentiating factor between radical and random users but for neutral(anti-ISIS)group it needs further investigation.

【目的】明确白粉病胁迫对小麦光合特性的影响规律，构建白粉病胁迫下小麦光合生产的模拟模型。【方法】以小麦为试验材料，分别于拔节期和孕穗期进行不同接种程度的小麦白粉病试验，明确白粉病对小麦光合特性的影响规律；在此基础上构建小麦白粉病严重度预测模型，量化白粉病对小麦的生理影响；基于单叶净光合速率（P_n）和叶面积指数（LAI），实现小麦白粉病严重度预测模型与作物生长模型（WheatGrow）的耦合。【结果】白粉病胁迫下，小麦单叶P_n和LAI均呈现下降趋势，与对照（CK）相比分别平均下降18.81%和23.41%，且与初始接种程度相比，发病时期对小麦P_n和LAI的影响更为严重；小麦白粉病田间病情发展具有明显的平缓期、指数爆发期和稳定期，总的来说各处理下小麦白粉病流行的时间动态变化特征符合Logistic函数，基于白粉病胁迫对小麦影响的拟合结果，构建小麦白粉病病害胁迫因子，用以反映白粉病对小麦生理指标影响的胁迫效应；基于WheatGrow模型的光合生产子模型，结合小麦白粉病病害胁迫因子，提出模拟白粉病对小麦叶片P_n和LAI效应的算法，并利用独立年份的数据资料对改进后的WheatGrow模型进行检验。【结论】耦合白粉病胁迫因子的WheatGrow模型对白粉病胁迫下小麦叶片P_n、LAI、地上部生物量和产量的预测精度均好于原模型，模拟精度较原模型分别提高了53.29%、43.61%、60.09%和67.57%，改进后的模型可为小麦白粉病严重度的预测与小麦产量损失的定量评估等提供数字化工具和技术支撑。

Subdivision for curves and surfaces has gained popularity in computer graphics and shape modeling during the past two decades,yet solid/volumetric subdivision has received much less attention. In this paper, we design a subdivision scheme that reproduces the tensor product rule on tensor product meshes and yields smooth limit volumes for arbitrary volume meshes. It also has the ability to conveniently incorporate boundaries and creases into a smooth limit shape of model. It is a hexahedral-based, approximation scheme. According to the existing hexahedralbased, approximation scheme over simple or rough hexahedral meshes it is difficult to get the solid models which designers want to model without using some special rules. We devise a set of solid subdivision rules to facilitate a simple subdivision procedure. In principle, our solid subdivision process is a combination of simple linear subdivision and two rounds of averaging. This process makes no restrictions on the local topology of the meshes. Particularly, it can be applied without any change to meshes with non-manifold topology. We have introduced free parameters to control the shape of models and offer more flexibility to design models over simple or rough meshes network.
