Effects of the buried straw layer on soil water and nitrogen distribution under different irrigation limits

At present,water and fertilizer use efficiency is low in many cultivation areas in southern *** show that the buried straw layer can effectively conserve water and *** investigate the optimal irrigation upper limit above the straw barrier and its effect on soil moisture and nitrogen distribution,an indoor soil column experiment was *** treatments were designed consisting of two levels of straw layer i.e.,(with and without buried straw layer at 25 cm depth),and three irrigation water upper limits i.e.,(saturated moisture content(s),field water holding capacity(f),and 80%of field water holding capacity(0.8f)as the upper limit of irrigation).The result revealed that the buried straw layer can inhibit water infiltration and significantly increase the water storage capacity and water storage efficiency of 0-25 cm soil *** the condition of no evaporation,when the upper limit of irrigation water does not exceed the field water holding capacity,the storage efficiency of 0-25 cm soil water reaches 89%-91%after 6 ***,a buried straw layer can inhibit the deep percolation of nitrate nitrogen and increase the amount of nitrate-nitrogen in 0-25 cm *** 80%field water holding capacity irrigation upper limit combined with straw interlayer treatment had a higher nitrate-nitrogen content in the 0-25 cm soil layer than other ***,80%of field water holding capacity as the upper limit of irrigation combined with buried straw layer is the optimal strategy to conserve soil water and nitrogen in the upper soil profile.

To investigate the effect of irrigation regime,soil clay content and their combination on growth,yield,and water productivity of rice,a shelter experiment was conduct using Randomized Complete Block Design(RCBD)with a factorial arrangement of treatments with four *** regime was the main treatment investigated,set in three levels as R(30 mm-100%)(100%of saturation and 30 mm flooded),R(30 mm-90%)(90%of saturation and 30 mm flooded)and R(30 mm-70%)(70%saturation and 30 mm flooded),*** sub-treatment was soil type,set in three levels as 40%,50%and 60%clay content,*** showed that irrigation regime and soil clay content had significant effects on growth,yield and water productivity of ***,their combination showed no significant impact on panicles number,root biomass,harvest index and irrigation water *** soil clay content results in increase in growth,yield,and water productivity of *** total water consumption during R(30 mm-100%)was higher than that during R(30 mm-90%)and R(30 mm-70%)because the latter two saturation levels led to the cracking of soil and decrease of total number of *** were consistently getting more serious with the reduction in soil water content and the increase in soil clay *** in soil will preferentially become the major routes of water losses,thus water percolation during R(30 mm-70%)was higher than that during R(30 mm-90%)and R(30 mm-100%)after each irrigation *** total water use under R(30 mm-70%)exceeded the water consumption under R(30 mm-90%)due to the great amount of soil cracking as well as the excessive volume of standing water *** water consumption and grain yield,the following conclusion can be reached:(i)The reduction in water consumption was greater than the reduction in grain yield in the case of drying soil 10%below saturation before reflooding.(ii)The reduction in water consumption was less than the reduction i

Present article aims to discuss the characteristics of Casson type nanofluid maintained to flow through porous medium over non-linear stretching surface in the perspective of heat and mass transfer developments.A Casson type incompressible viscous nanofluid passes through the given porous medium via Darcy-Forchheimer *** boundary conditions are used for velocity,temperature and concentration of the *** diffusion and thermophoresis is *** induced magnetic field effect is involved to accentuate the thermo-physical characteristics of the *** model incorporates boundary layer formulations and small magnetic Reynolds for practical validity.A fourth order Runge-Kutta(RK)scheme is enforced to solve the system *** are prepared for various progressive values of non-dimensionalized parameters whereas;variation in wall drag factor,heat and mass transfer rates is analyzed through numerical *** indicate that momentum boundary layer reduces for stronger inertial impact and the resistance offered by the porous media to the fluid *** is found as a progressive function for the Brownianmotion factor and *** magnitude of wall drag factor,heat transfer and masstransfer rates shows reduction for progressive values of slip parameters.

This study was particularly designed to evaluate the physico-chemical parameters and polarization value of raw sugar which ultimately affect the filterability of raw sugar. Six different raw sugar samples were collected from the local industries and were evaluated for the physico-chemical and polarization value. The physico-chemical characteristics of sugar including moisture, reducing sugar, ash contents, size of crystals and color constituents were assessed. The results obtained from physico-chemical analysis showed that these parameters were affected significantly among the samples of raw sugar. The ash contents were found to be decreasing for the samples in the order of T6 > T1T2T5 > T3T4. The values for the polarization were significantly the highest in sample T5, T2 and T1 followed by sample T4 and T6 while the lowest values were recorded for sample T3. It can be concluded from the results that sample T4 was observed to have a good quality while sample T6 had the opposite result to that of sample T4 and was considered to have a very low quality.

The conventional and agile software development process models are proposed and used nowadays in software industry to meet emergent requirements of the customers. Conventional software development models such as Waterfall, V model and RUP have been predominant in industry until mid 1990s, but these models are mainly focused on extensive planning, heavy documentation and team expertise which suit only to medium and large scale projects. The Rational Unified Process is one of the widely used conventional models. Agile process models got attention of the software industry in last decade due to limitations of conventional models such as slow adaptation to rapidly changing business requirements and they overcome problems of schedule and cost. Extreme Programming is one of the most useful agile methods that provide best engineering practices for a good quality product at small scale. XP follows the iterative and incremental approach, but its key focus is on programming, and reusability becomes arduous. In this paper, we present characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of RUP and XP process models, and propose a new hybrid software development model eXRUP (eXtreme Programming and Rational Unified Process), which integrates the strengths of RUP and XP while suppressing their weaknesses. The proposed process model is validated through a controlled case study.

Plant invasions can affect soil properties in the invaded habitat by altering the biotic and abiotic nature of soils through positive or negative plant–soil *** decomposition from many invasive species enhanced soil nutrients,thereby decreasing native plant diversity and leading to further plant ***,we examined the impact of litter decomposition from an invasive plant(Sphagneticola trilobata)in a range of soils at varying depths on growth and physiology of its native congener(Sphagneticola calendulacea).We added litter from *** to each soil type at different depths(0,2,4 and 6 cm).Plants of *** were grown in each treatment,and morphological and physiological parameters were measured at the end of the growing *** soils treated with litter displayed increases in soil nutrients at depths of 2 and 4 cm;while most growth traits,leaf chlorophyll and leaf nitrogen of *** decreased at the same soil ***,litter decomposition from invasive *** resulted in a positive plant–soil feedback for soil nutrients,and a negative plant–soil feedback for growth in native *** findings also suggest that the effects of litter decomposition from an invasive plant on soils and native species can vary significantly depending on the soil depth at which the litter is *** studies should focus on plant–soil feedback for more native and invasive species in invaded habitats,and the effects of invasive litter in more soil types and at greater soil depths.

Detection of Acid Fast Bacilli in Tuberculous Lymph Node Tissue and Touch Preparations—A Comparative Study

Background: The most common form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis is lymphadenitis. Lymphadenitis is considered mainly a disease of young children and has a peak age of onset at 20 to 40 years. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to detect and compare the presence of acid fast bacilli in lymph node biopsies and their touch preparations using Ziehl Neelsen and fluorescence staining. Materials and Methods: The lymph node biopsies and their touch preparations were prepared and stained with Haematoxylin and eosin to determine their morphology. Slides were stained with ZN staining and fluorescent staining technique using Auramine O and Rohdamine B to demonstrate the presence of acid fast bacilli in tissue and their touch preparations. Results: AFB was detected in 56% of biopsies and 54% of touch preparations. In addition in these cases we observed that fluorescent staining technique using Auramine O and Rohdamine B is superior to ZN stain because low magnification used in fluorescent staining technique makes it possible to scan the smear rapidly and detects the AFB as glowing spots even if it is present in small numbers. Conclusion: The results of AFB in tissue biopsies are in equivalent in their touch preparation.

芦苇(Phragmites australis)是崇明东滩湿地潮间带的优势种,具有良好的水土保持与净化功能。芦苇种群主要在中、高潮滩呈带状分布,但在低潮滩也有小斑块状分布。作为典型根茎型克隆植物的芦苇种群,在盐沼湿地不同潮滩表现出怎样的种群动态特征,进而反映出怎样的差异化的适应能力,值得深入研究。以分布在崇明东滩湿地低、中、高3个潮滩上的芦苇种群为研究对象,全程定位追踪起始于4、6月的同生群在整个生长季的生长、发育过程,并定量分析它们的动态生命表、生存曲线、生存率和累积死亡率,系统揭示分布于3个潮滩的芦苇种群典型动态特征。结果表明:(1)起始于4月的处于低、中、高3个潮滩上的芦苇同生群,其生存曲线存在差异,它们分别趋近于Deevey-Ⅰ型、Deevey-Ⅱ型和Ⅲ型的过渡型,以及Deevey-Ⅰ型和Ⅱ型的过渡型;(2)起始于6月的处于低、中潮滩上的芦苇同生群,其生存曲线呈现出与4月同生群相似的特征,高潮滩同生群则由Deevey-Ⅰ型和Ⅱ型的过渡型转变成Deevey-Ⅱ型和Ⅲ型的过渡型;(3)经综合分析,高潮滩芦苇同生群稳定性最强,低潮滩同生群相对不稳定,中潮滩同生群在生长初期不稳定而在生长中后期趋于稳定;(4)基于上述研究结果,针对东滩湿地沿潮滩梯度分布的芦苇种群的保育与管理提出了合理建议。

Falkner-Skan aspects are revealed numerically for a non-homogeneous hybrid mixture of 50%ethylene glycol-50%water,silver nanomaterials Ag,and molybdenum disul-fide nanoparticles MoS2 during its motion over a static wedge surface in a DarcyForchheimer porous medium by employing the modified Buongiorno *** Brownian and thermophoresis mechanisms are included implicitly along with the thermophysical properties of each phase via the mixture theory and some efficient phenomenological *** present simulation also accounts for the impacts of nonlinear radiative heat flux,magnetic forces,and Joule ***,the generalized differential quadrature method and Newton-Raphson technique are applied successfully for solving the resulting nonlinear boundary layer *** a limiting case,the obtained findings are validated accurately with the existing literature *** behaviors of velocity,temperature,and nanoparticles volume fraction are discussed comprehensively against various governing *** crucial results,it is revealed that the temperature is enhanced due to magnetic field,linear porosity,radiative heat flux,Brownian motion,thermophoresis,and Joule heating ***,it is depicted that the hybrid nanoliquids present a higher heat flux rate than the monotype nanoliquids and liquids ***,the surface frictional impact is minimized via the linear porosity ***,the surface heat transfer rate receives a prominent improvement due to the radiative heat flux inclusion.
