Is forced oscillation technique the next respiratory function test of choice in childhood asthma

Respiratory diseases, especially asthma, are common in children. While spirometry contributes to asthma diagnosis and management in older children, it has a limited role in younger children whom are often unable to perform forced expiratory manoeuvre. The development of novel diagnostic methods which require minimal effort, such as forced oscillation technique(FOT) is, therefore, a welcome and promising addition. FOT involves applying external, small amplitude oscillations to the respiratory system during tidal breathing. Therefore, it requires minimal effort and cooperation. The FOT has the potential to facilitate asthma diagnosis and management in preschool children by faciliting the objective measurement of baseline lung function and airway reactivity in children unable to successfully perform spirometry. Traditionally the use of FOT was limited to specialised centres. However, the availability of commercial equipment resulted in its use both in research and in clinical practice. In this article, we review the available literature on the use of FOT in childhood asthma. The technical aspects of FOT are described followed by a discussion of its practical aspects in the clinical field including the measurement of baseline lung function and associated reference ranges, bronchodilator responsiveness and bronchial hyperresponsiveness. We also highlight the difficulties and limitations that might be encountered and future research directions.

CuO–CeO_2 nanocomposite: A highly efficient recyclable catalyst for the multicomponent synthesis of 4H-benzo[b]pyran derivatives

CoO-CeO2 is reported as a highly efficient and green recyclable catalyst, for the multicomponent synthesis of 4H-benzo[b]pyran derivatives. The catalyst was synthesized by a co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, BET specific surface area, ESEM and EDS analysis. This synthetic method provides several advantages such as simple work-up procedures, minimal amount of waste generated, short reaction time, and high yields of products.

Copper iodide nanoparticles on poly(4-vinyl pyridine) as new and green catalyst for multicomponent click synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-l,2,3-triazoles in water

Poly（4-vinyl pyridine） supported nanoparticle of copper（Ⅰ） iodide is reported as a green and recyclable catalyst for the regioselective synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-1H-1,2,3-triazoles from benzyl halides,sodium azide and terminal alkynes in water. This catalyst can be recovered by simple filtration and recycled up to 8 consecutive runs without any loss of its efficiency.

A new method has been developed for the chemoselective acetylation of alcohols with acetic anhy‐dride in the presence of phenols using a novel,recyclable Cu O‐Zn O *** catalyst was synthesized using the co‐precipitation method and characterized by N2 adsorption‐desorption,X‐ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and energy dis‐persion scanning ***,this catalyst could be recycled up to six times without significant loss in its activity.

Optimal PV Allocation&Minimal tap-Changing Transformers Achieving Best Distribution Voltage Profile&Minimum Losses in active distribution networks

In distribution systems,voltage levels of the various buses should be maintained within the permissible limits for satisfactory operation of all electrical installations and *** task of voltage control is closely associated with fluctuating load conditions and corresponding requirements of reactive power *** problem of load bus voltage optimization in distribution systems that have distributed generation(DG)has recently become an *** Oman,the distribution code limits the load bus voltage variations within±6%of the nominal *** voltage control methods are employed in active distribution systems with a high share of photovoltaic systems(PV)to keep the voltage levels within the desirable *** addition to the constraint of targeting the best voltage profile,another constraint has to be achieved which is the minimum loss in the distribution *** optimised solution for voltage of load busses with on-load tap-changing(OLTC)tarnsformers and PV sources is presented in this *** study addresses the problem of optimizing the injected power from PV systems associated with the facilities of tap-changing transformers,as it is an important means of controlling voltage throughout the *** avoid violating tap-changing constraints,a method is depicted for determining the minimal changes in transformer taps to control voltage levels with distributed PV *** taps of a range+5 to-15%,can be achieved by tap-changing *** OLTC operation was designed to keep the secondary bus within the voltage standard for MV networks.

This paper proposes a robust power system stabilizer(PSS)for a steam synchronous generator in Barka II power *** PSS should be capable of damping small-disturbance oscillations(inherently existing in power systems due to *** changes,lines switching...etc.)within a certain settling time for different load ***,the proposed PSS must have the conventional structure and its parameters must not be *** achieve this goal,robust control provides many *** suggested controller is tuned by the Kharitonov’s theorem and uses the standard structure employed in *** problem is cast into a nonlinear constrained optimization problem to achieve the desired settling time without violating the practical values of the controller *** of the robust PSS is evaluated by several simulations in the presence of system uncertainty due to load changes.
