In search for new potential inhibitors some new fluorine substituted thiobarbituric acid derivatives (2-4, 7, 8) and their fused/isolated heterobicyclic nitrogen systems (5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12) have been synthesized from heterocyclization of fluorinated 1,3-diketoamine (1) with CS2 followed by ring closure reactions with primary nitrogen reagents. Structures of the targets have been established from elemental analysis and spectral data. Some synthesized systems have been evaluated as anti-HIV-1 and of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) for cell tumor division.

Novel fluorine substituted α-amino phosphonic acids containing 1,2,4-triazin- 5-one (6a-f) have been obtained from fluoroacylation of 6-(2′-amino-5′-nitrophenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one (1) followed by ammonilysis to give the corresponding 3-amino-derivative 3. Condensation of compound 3 with nitro/halogenated aromatic aldehydes yielded the Schiff bases 4. The simple addition of diethyl phosphonate to compound 4 produced the α-amino phosphonates 5. Acidic hydrolysis of compound 5 produced the fluorine substituted α-amino acids derivatives 6. Structures of the new compounds have been established with the help of elemental analysis and spectral measurements. Also, the products evaluated as antioxidants, where the fluorinated α-amino phosphonic acids 6 are more active than the other synthesized systems.

Maternal Outcome of Cases of Placenta Previa with and without Morbidly Adherent Placenta at King Abdul-aziz University Hospital, Saudi Arabia

Introduction:?Worldwide increasing cesarean section rates are expected to have a parallel increase in the number of cases of Placenta Previa with all the expected complications, including pathologically adherent placenta. This morbidly adherent placenta constitutes a serious and possibly a life threatening complication. An efficient team capable for managing possible complicated situations will be able to reduce mortality and morbidity. Objectives: The aim of our study was to evaluate maternal outcome in cases of Placenta Previa with and without morbidly adherent placenta. Methods: Analysis of all pregnancies complicated by antepartum hemorrhage during the period from January 2013 to September 2017 at King Abdul-aziz University Hospital (KAUH), Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) was done. Cases of Placenta Previa with gestational age > 28 weeks were included. They were classified into 2 groups;Group (A) included Placenta Previa cases without morbidly adherent placenta and Group (B) included cases with morbidly adherent placenta. Maternal outcomes were recorded. Results: Placenta Previa was the leading cause of antepartum hemorrhage constituting 76.8%, out of them 52% were unbooked. Morbidly adherent placenta constituted 13.5% of total Placenta Previa cases and was diagnosed prenatally in only 1 case. Morbidity rate in placenta previa patients with adherent placenta (Group B) was higher than in placenta previa without adherent placenta (Group A). We considered the occurrence of intrapartum hypovolemic shock, Intensive care unit admission, surgical complications and peripartum hysterectomy as parameters for morbidity. P value for hypovolemic shock was insignificant (P = 0.580), significant for Intensive care unit admission (P = 0.008), significant for surgical complications (P = 0.009) and significant for peripartum

New fluorine substituted 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-triphenylphosphiniminophenyl) 3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5 (2H, 4H) one (2) was obtained via Wittig’s reaction of the corresponding 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-amino-phenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazinone (1). Behavior of compound 2 towards alkylating agents and/or oxidizing agents was studied were, N-hydroxyl (3), Mannich base (4,5), S-alkyl (6,7,8) and thiazolo [3,2-b][1,2,4] triazinones (10-14) and or 3-disulfide (18), 3-sulfonic acid 19 and 1,2,4-triazin-3,5-Dionne (20) derivatives obtained. Structures of the new products are established by elemental and spectral data. The new targets obtained screened as Molluscicidalagents against Biomophlaria Alexandrina snails responsible for Bilharziasis diseases, in compare with Baylucide as standard drug.

Novel 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-diphenylphosphorylanilido)-3-hydrazino-1,2,4-trizin-5 (2H) one (3) is achieved from hydrozinolysis of the corresponding 3-thioxo-analoges 2. Compound 2 is also obtained from phosphorylation of 6-(5’-fluoro-2’-aminophenyl)-3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazin-5(2H) one (1). Novel fluorine substituted isolated and/or fused heterobicyclic nitrogen systems bearing and/or containing, 6-phosphoryl anilido-1,2,4-trizin-5 (2H) one moiety (4 - 22) have been synthesized from ring closure reactions of compound 3 with π-acceptors activated carbon compounds in different medium and conditions. Structures of the products are characterized by MS, IR, UV-VIS, CH, N, and 1H/13CNMR spectral data. The new products have been evaluated as potential inhibitors towards HIV-1 activity.

AIM:To share the results of a national screening program for amblyopia in school children in the north of ***:This is a prospective national screening study for *** program rolls first and second-grade children(6 to 7 years old) in the north of *** eye examination included:best-corrected visual acuity,cover-uncover test,and cycloplegic *** visual acuity was tested using an ETDRS visual acuity chart without ***,children were tested with full cycloplegic refraction when the test criteria were *** amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity difference of 2 or more *** comparison,bilateral amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or worse in the best ***:The prevalence of amblyopia for the total sample tested(n=17 203) was 2.78%(n=479).The most common cause of amblyopia was hypermetropia(64.45%),followed by previous ocular surgeries(15.1%),myopia(10.43%),strabismus(9.39%),and congenital cataract(0.63%).CONCLUSION:This is the first and only study,identifing modifiable risk factors in Jordanian children with *** their first couple of years of elementary education,many Jordanian children are affected by amblyopia and pass unnoticed.A more governmental effort is needed into screening programs to improve vision in the Jordanian population.

This paper represents the interaction of well characterized Lewis base [（Pyr）nCuX]4O2, n = 1 or 2, X = Cl, Br or I, Pyr = pyrrolidine with CO2 as a Lewis acid to produce new series of oxidative coupling and catechol oxidase initiators [（Pyr）nCuX]4（CO3）2. These carbonato derivatives are isolated as stable solids. They are easily soluble in aprotic solvents as CH2Cl2 or PhNO2. Cryoscopic measurements support tetranuclear core structure for all of them. Infrared spectra show differences from their oxo analogous in the carbonato domains but those differences did not distinguish between tridentate bridging carbonato and bidentate one. Rate of oxidation of 2,6-dimethylphenol （DMP） by [（Pyr）CuCl]4（CO3）2, supports coordination number six for Cu（Ⅱ） centers in [（Pyr）CuCl]4（CO3）2. In order to fulfill coordination number six, for n = 1, carbonate will act as tridentate while for n = 2, it will act as bidentate, as shown in Scheme 4. Near infrared spectra indicate a [（3 halo） Cu（Ⅱ） charge transfer] for [（Pyr）nCuX]4（CO3）2, n = 1 or 2, X = Cl or Br. Low molecular absorptivities of the maxima at 825 nm and 730 nm for [（Pyr）nCuI]4（CO3）2, n = 1 or 2 with a minimum of high molecular absorptivities at 600 nm, comparing to X= CI or Br analogous, support a step structure for [（Pyr）,Cul]4（CO3）2, as shown in Scheme 5. Cyclic voltammograms for [（Pyr）nCuX]4（CO3）2; n = 1 or 2, X = CI or Br, are irreversible in characters.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is etiologically linked with hepatitis B virus(HBV) and is the leading cause of death amongst 80% of HBV patients. Among HBV affected patients, genetic factors are also involved in modifying the risk factors of HCC. However, the genetic factors that regulate progression to HCC still remain to be determined. In this review, we discuss several single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) which were reportedly associated with increased or reduced risk of HCC occurrence in patients with chronic HBV infection such as cyclooxygenase(COX)-2 expression specifically at COX-2-1195G/A in Chinese, Turkish and Egyptian populations, tumor necrosis factor α and the three most commonly studied SNPs: PAT-/+, Lys939Gln(A33512C, rs2228001) and Ala499Val(C21151T, rs2228000). In genome-wide association studies, strong associations have also been found at loci 1p36.22, 11q22.3, 6p21(rs1419881, rs3997872, rs7453920 and rs7768538), 8p12(rs2275959 and rs37821974) and 22q11.21. The genes implicated in these studies include HLA-DQB2, HLA-DQA1, TCF19, HLA-C, UBE2L3, LTL, FDX1, MICA, UBE4 B and PG. The SNPs found to be associated with the above-mentioned genes still require validation in association studies in order to be considered good prognostic candidates for HCC. Screening of these polymorphisms is very beneficial in clinical experiments to stratify the higher or lower risk for HCC and may help in designing effective and efficient HCC surveillance programs for chronic HBV-infected patients if further genetic vulnerabilities are detected.
