Bac.ground and Objec.ive: Tic.-borne hemoparasitic.illnesses pose a serious threat to the well-being and produc.ivity of c.ttle. This study aimed to investigate the prevalenc. of tic.-borne hemoparasites in c.meroon, with a spec.fic.foc.s on the Noun and Nde Divisions of the West Region. Methodology: A total of 423 c.ttle from 10 villages in both divisions were inc.uded in the study. Blood smears were prepared and subjec.ed to mic.osc.pic.sc.eening for Babesia and Anaplasma parasites. Results: The prevalenc. of Anaplasma was found to be 23.4%, while Babesia exhibited a seroprevalenc. of 17.3%. Samples from Institute of Agric.ltural Researc. for Development (IRAD) and Koupa Ngangnou demonstrated signific.ntly higher prevalenc. rates, potentially influenc.d by c.imate variations affec.ing tic. populations. Additionally, 17.3% of the animals exhibited low hematoc.it levels, indic.tive of anemia. No signific.nt assoc.ations were observed between the presenc. of hemoparasite infec.ion and c.ttle c.arac.eristic.. c.nc.usion: This study provides fundamental data on the extensive distribution and impac. of tic.-borne hemoparasites in a signific.nt c.ttle-produc.ng region of c.meroon.

Insight is here provided into the soc.o-ec.nomic.and tec.nic.l c.arac.eristic. of c.ttle produc.ion in the Ndé Division (West c.meroon region). Using a semi-struc.ured questionnaire, information on the ac.ivity was assessed following onsite visits and interviewing breeders. Through a random sampling sc.eme, 110 breeders in the four subdivisions of the Ndé Division were shadowed. The majority (98.18%) of breeders were men aged 20 to 40 and married (91.82%). They belong to the Mbororo ethnic.group, having c.mulated more than 10 years in the ac.ivity. Most respondents (50.91%) did not attend sc.ool and earn their living mainly from livestoc. (78.18%). c.ttle were raised for sale and to feed the breeder’s family (77.27%). The main mode of ac.uisition of animals was through inheritanc. (81.82%). The c.ttle breeds were mostly made up of white Fulani (70%), living in private farms using a c.mbination of stake and barbed wires (67.27%) as fenc.s. The c.mbination of natural fodder and c.oking salt was used by most breeders (59.09%) as a daily ration. Reproduc.ion was by natural mating (97.07%). Parasites (internal and external) and foot-and-mouth disease were the main diseases reported by the majority of farmers. Self-treatment (50%) was the main prophylac.ic.measure taken by farmers in c.se of disease symptoms. c.ttle herders fac.d several c.allenges, suc. as insuffic.ent pasture (67.27%), agro-pastoral c.nflic.s (76.36%) and diseases (90.91%). c.ttle breeding was rather a widespread ac.ivity with no partic.lar restric.ion.
