Digestate, the product obtained after anaerobic digestion of organic waste for biogas production, is rich in plant nutrients and might be used to fertilize crops. Wheat （Triticum spp. L.） was fertilized with digestate, urea, or left unfertilized and cultivated in the greenhouse for 120 d. emissions of greenhouse gasses （carbon dioxide （CO2）, methane （CH4）, and nitrous oxide （N20）） were monitored and plant growth characteristics were determined at harvest. The digestate was characterized for heavy metals, pathogens, and C and N mineralization potential in an aerobic incubation experiment. No Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., or viable eggs of helminths were detected in the digested pig slurry, but the number of faecal coliforms was as high as 3.6 ~ 104 colony-forming units （CFU） g-1 dry digestate. The concentrations of heavy metals did not surpass the upper limits established by US environmental Protection Agency （ePA）. After 28 d, 17% of the organic C （436 g kg-1 dry digestate） and 8% of the organic N （6.92 g kg-1 dry digestate） were mineralized. emissions of CO2 and CH4 were not significantly affected by fertilization in the wheat-cultivated soil, but digestate significantly increased the cumulative N20 emission by 5 times compared to the urea-amended soil and 63 times compared to the uncultivated unfertilized soil. It could be concluded that digestate was nutrient rich and low in heavy metals and pathogens, and did not affect emissions of CH4 and CO2 when applied to a soil cultivated with wheat, but increased emission of N20. CLIGeN is a stochastic weather generator that creates statistically representative timeseries of daily and sub-daily point-scale weather variables from observed monthly statistics and other parameters. CLIGeN precipitation timeseries are used as climate input for various risk-assessment modelling applications as an alternative to observe long-term, high temporal resolution records. Here, we queried gridded global climate datasets (TerraClimate, eRA5, GPm-ImeRG, and GLDAS) to estimate various 20-year climate statistics and obtain complete CLIGeN input parameter sets with coverage of the African and South American continents at 0.25 arc degree resolution. The estimation of CLIGeN precipitation parameters was informed by a ground-based dataset of >10,000 locations worldwide. The ground observations provided target values to fit regression models that downscale CLIGeN precipitation input parameters. Aside from precipitation parameters, CLIGeN’s parameters for temperature, solar radiation, etc. were in most cases directly calculated according to the original global datasets. Cross-validation for estimated precipitation parameters quantified errors that resulted from applying the estimation approach in a predictive fashion. Based on all training data, the RmSe was 2.23 mm for the estimated monthly average single-event accumulation and 4.70 mm/hr for monthly maximum 30-min intensity. This dataset facilitates exploration of hydrological and soil erosional hypotheses across Africa and South America.

The Formation of Initial Components of Number Concepts in mexican Children

The initial formation of number concept represents one of the essential aspects of learning mathematics at the primary school. Children commonly show strong difficulties and absence of comprehension of symbolic and abstract nature of concept of number. The objective of the present study was to show the effectiveness of original method for introduction of elements of concept of number. A pre- and post- test descriptive quantitative and qualitative design was used with an experimental group of mexican suburban children from Grade 1 of the primary school. The original method for formation of components of concept of number was applied to children from experimental group. The duration of the application was six months in the classroom three days per week. The program included specific training of components of number concept: symbolic, logical, numeric, and spatial. The results of the final assessment indicate positive result in experimental group in comparison with absence of changes in control group. The authors conclude that the method could be useful for organizing pedagogical methodology in mexican primary schools.

Recent clinical trials of cancer immunogene therapy in companion animals

This mini-review presents the results of veterinary clinical trials on immunogene therapy published from 2014 to 2016. A variety of tumors, among them melanoma(canine and equine), mastocytoma(canine), mammary adenocarcinoma(canine) and fibrosarcoma(feline) were treated by using diverse strategies. Non-viral vectors were usually employed to transfer genes of cytokines, suicide enzymes and/or tumor associated antigens. In general terms, minor or no adverse collateral effects were related to these procedures, and treated patients frequently improved their conditions(better quality of life, delayed or suppressed recurrence or metastatic spread, increased survival). Some of these new methodologies have a promising future if applied as adjuvant treatments of standard approaches. The auspicious results, derived from immunogene therapy studies carried out in companion animals, warrant their imperative usage in veterinary clinical oncology. Besides, they provide a strong preclinical basis(safety assays and proofs of concept) for analogous human clinical trials.

We evaluated fruit availability, phytochemical characteristics and mineral content of R. rubiginosa L. rose hips, at two experimental sites in San Luis province: Potrero de los Funes-el Volcán (PF-V) and estancia Grande (eG). Plant density was 70 plants/ha (1 ha = 10,000 m2) in PF-V and 50 plants/ha in eG. Fruit availability (DF) in fresh fruits (FF) was 4.39 kg (PF-V) and 3.10 kg (eG) during march, and decreased during June. Ascorbic acid in FF increased during ripening period, peaking on late April, early may, and diminished 75% - 85% in dried fruits. Total soluble solids in FF ranged from 32.55 to 55.20 °Brix. elements Ba, Ca, Fe, K, Zn and Cu, determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OeS), were significant for human health. Dried fruits maintain a high level of ascorbic acid, a characteristic added to content of mineral elements, particularly calcium content, providing an important nutritional value to R. rubiginosa rose hips.

Insulin Age-Dependently modulates Synaptic Transmission and AmPA Receptor Trafficking in Region CA1 of the Rat Hippocampus

Insulin induces long-term depression (insulin-LTD) in the CA1 region of the rat juvenile hippocampus. This insulin-LTD may be due in part to internalization of the GluA2 subunit of the AmPA receptor (AmPAR) events that haven’t been studied in the mature rat hippocampus. In our studies, we used hippocampal preparations from juvenile (14 - 25 days) and mature (60 - 90 days) rats to assess insulin modulation of CA1 synaptic transmission and AmPAR trafficking and phosphorylation. Using field potential electrophysiology, we observed that insulin induced LTD in the juvenile hippocampus (as previously reported) in the presence and absence of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) activity, but produced no significant long-term changes in the mature hippocampus in the presence of PI3K activity. Interestingly, during PI3K inhibition, insulin did produce LTD in the mature hippocampus. Additionally, insulin induced a long-term decrease in plasma membrane expression of the GluA2 and GluA1 subunits of the AmPAR in the juvenile, but not mature hippocampus. Furthermore, there was a long-term decrease in GluA1 phosphorylation at Serine 845 in the juvenile, but not mature hippocampus. These data reveal that insulin modulation of synaptic plasticity and AmPAR modulation within the hippocampus is age-dependent, suggesting that insulin-regulated behaviors may also show age-dependence. These findings are important largely due to the increased use of insulin as a therapeutic throughout the lifespan. Our data suggest that additional work should be done to determine how this use of insulin throughout different stages of life might affect synaptic function and development.

本文用实倒说明了一种侧向测井反演的神经网络方法。文中所用的倒向测井曲线是采用有限差分方法模拟得到的,模拟曲线用作反传播神经网络的输入。由神经网络产生一个初始预测的地层模型,该模型再用作marquardt反演的输入。神经网络对实际测井曲线中的总体数据特征和细微的数据特征都作出反应,并产生根据训练过程中存储在网络中的知识推断得到的响应。采用合成数据和现场数据对神经网络侧向测井反演进行检验。根据采用现场数据试算得到的最终地层模型模拟出的侧向测井曲线与实际测井数据吻合较好。
