Revision total hip arthroplasty: An analysis of the quality and readability of information on the internet

The demand for revision total hip arthroplasty(THA)is *** quality on the internet has been extensively analysed in relation to primary THA but no such analysis has ever been performed for revision *** aim was to assess the quality and readability of this *** major internet search engines were searched for information on revision *** websites were assessed for quality of information using the DISCERN score,the Journal of the American Medical Association benchmark criteria and a novel scoring system specific to revision THA[Vancouver Revision Arthroplasty Information(VRAI)score].Website readability was assessed,as was presence of the Health On the Net Foundation(HON)*** majority of websites(52%)were academic with a post-graduate reading *** 6.5%of websites had the HON *** percent of websites had a‘good’DISCERN score and only 28%had a‘good’score with the novel VRAI scoring *** information websites had significantly higher rates of‘good’VRAI scores(P=0.008).Websites with the HON seal had significantly higher DISCERN scores(P=0.01).All governmental websites were at a reading level suitable for patient *** on the internet relating to revision THA is of low quality,much lower than the quality of information on primary *** recommend governmental websites for their readability and health information websites for their quality of information specific to revision *** with the HON seal provide higher quality information and should be recommended to patients as reading material regarding revision THA.

Depression and the ending of depression： tradition, science and subjectivities

为了解碳同位素分辨率(Δ)与小麦光合生理指标的关系,以洛旱6号和西农389的154个F4代株系中的24个高Δ株系和24个低Δ株系及亲本为供试材料,分析了陕西杨凌和永寿两种不同雨养环境条件下小麦籽粒Δ与灌浆期叶片光合生理指标的相关性,并对高、低Δ材料间光合生理指标和产量进行了比较分析。结果表明,在降雨较多的杨凌地区,高Δ株系表现出高的籽粒产量;在降雨较少、相对干旱的永寿地区,高、低Δ株系间籽粒产量差异不显著,但低Δ株系表现出低的气孔导度。在杨凌生态条件下,灌浆中期籽粒Δ与叶片蒸腾速率、光合速率、气孔导度和Ci/Ca生理指标的相关性在小麦整个灌浆期最为显著;在永寿生态条件下,灌浆中期籽粒Δ与蒸腾速率和Ci/Ca均相关显著。说环境条件影响小麦籽粒Δ与光合生理指标的关系。

The implicit stress of eating meat

This paper gives a brief overview of the evolutionary history of human diet,discusses various reasons why some modern humans choose to abstain from eating animal products,and explores the psychological effects occasioned by the eating of *** authors argue that when modern,scientifically literate humans choose to eat meat and animal-milk-based products,while being simultaneously aware of the associated poor outcomes in terms of personal health,environmental sustainability,and animal suffering,then psychological stress is an inevitable *** highlight some key recent additions to the growing body of evidence which demonstrates that the choice to eat meat is a factor in environmental destruction,animal misery,and personal health risks,and explore the causes and consequences of the predictable psychological stresses that result for those individuals who continue to habituallv eat meat.

＜正＞Background/Aims: The porphyrin drug Photofrin is used in photodynamic therapy applications to clinically treat oral and upper aerodigestive tract tumors;however, this drug is limited by its inadequate tumor selectivity and poor optical properties-common problems for members of the porphyrin family. We are currently studying a class of porphyrin derivatives, the porphyrazines （pzs）, which possess superior optical properties and greater synthetic flexibility than the porphyrins and show promise as both PDT agents and traditional anti - tumor agents. Previous work in our laboratory has shown that a subfamily of acid - functionalized pzs exhibit selective anti - tumor activity in A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cells. We here expand this study to test these same pzs in a number of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma （SCC） cell lines. Methods: MTT proliferation/viability assays were used to test the toxicity of three H2[pz（ An;B4-n） ] pzs, where n = 4, 3, or 2 （ in a trans conformation）, A is [S（CH2）3COOH], and B is a fused β,β’ - diisopropyloxybenzo ring. Five SCC cell lines were exposed to the pzs at concentrations of 12.5 - 50 μM, for periods of 24, 48, and 72 hours. Results: As the number of terminal acid groups on the pzs was increased, the amount of toxicity observed in the SCC cell lines upon 72 hour exposure also increased-a trend which was also observed previously in the A549 adenocarcinoma cell line. Additionally, at any given concentration, each compound was found to kill a greater percentage of tumor cells than normal cells. Normal cells were found to be unaffected by the H2A2B2 pz （four acid groups） at concentrations of 25 μM and below, whereas all five SCC cell lines exhibited toxicity in the presence of each of the three pzs at all concentrations studied （12.5 - 50 μM）. Conclusion: The acid - appended pzs were found to exhibit the same structure - function relationship in both adeno-carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. The selective tumor toxicity
