Thermal Characterization of lauric Acid and Stearic Acid Binary Eutectic Mixture in latent Heat Thermal Storage Systems with Tube and Fins

In order to obtain the suitable phase change material（PCM） with low phase change temperature and improve its heat transfer rate, experimental investigation was conducted. Firstly, different mass ratios of lauric acid（lA） and stearic acid（SA） eutectic mixtures were prepared and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry（DSC）. Then, the performance of eutectic mixture during charging process under different fin widths in vertical condition, and performance during charging and discharging processes under different inlet temperature heat transfer fluid（HTF） in horizontal condition were investigated, respectively. The results revealed that the lA-SA eutectic mixture had the suitable phase change temperature and desired latent heat for low-temperature water floor heating system. Wide fins and high inlet temperature HTF significantly enhanced the transfer rate and decreased the melting time.

Assessment of agricultural production sustainability is a multi-dimensional task that involves the quantification of various economic,social and environmental indicators at different scales and uncertainty *** this context,a particularly challenging approach is proposed involving the appropriate selection of the most representative criteria that ensure economic viability,eco-friendliness and social development,in order to overcome the limitations of other methodological approaches that are often vague and *** this study,a holistic methodology that integrates life cycle analysis(lCA),environmental risk assessment(ERA)along with on-site farm and regional surveys using the multi-criteria environment of the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)is designed for the identification of the most sustainable agricultural management practices at regional *** on a set of 13 representative sub-criteria,the proposed approach was applied to Pistacia vera *** in Aegina island,Greece,where narrow range of resources is available,groundwater supply is scarce and of poor ***,three alternative scenarios,*** scenario representing the current production(Bl)as well as Composting(CO)and Biochar Use(BU)scenarios aiming at sustainability improvement were *** of multi-criteria and sensitivity analyses suggest that the optimal sustainable management scenario is CΟ,which involves on-site composting of organic solid waste,mainly produced at farm site,and subsequent application in the *** proposed methodology shows significant potential as a valuable multi-criteria tool that can be easily adapted at regional level to assist decision makers such as farmers and their associations,policy makers,local and regional authorities to efficiently explore a range of alternative farm management practices and thus identify pathways toward sustainability.

A protic ionic liquid is designed and implemented for the first time as a solvent for a high energy density vanadium redox flow *** being less conductive than standa rd aqueous electrolytes,it is thermally stable on a 100 ℃ temperature window,chemically stable for at least 60 days,equally viscous and dense with typical aqueous solvents and most importantly able to solubilize to 6 mol l^(-1) vanadium sulfate,thus increasing the VRFB energy density by a factor of *** measurements revealed quasi-reversible redox transitions for both catholyte and anolyte at 25 ℃ while a proof-of-concept redox flow cell with the proposed electrolyte was tested for a total of 150 cycles at 25 ℃,showing an open circuit potential of 1.39 V and energy and coulombic efficiencies of 65% and 93%,***’s more,the battery can be equally cycled at 45℃ showing good thermal *** study underlines a new route to improve the energy-to-volume ratio of energy storage system.

We review some of the recent advances in the development of subwavelength plasmonic devices for manipulating light at the nanoseale, drawing examples from our own work in metal-dielectric-metal （MDM） plasmonic waveguide devices. We introduce bends, splitters, and mode converters for MDM waveguides with no additional loss. We also demonstrate that optical gain provides a mechanism for on/off switching in MDM plasmonic waveguides. Highly efficient compact couplers between dielectric waveguides and MDM waveguides are also introduced.

The performance of the wood-frame buildings after tornadoes has shown that the majority of the wind damage resulted from building envelope failure most typically due to the loss of the *** assess the performance and the reliability of low-rise wood-frame residential buildings with a focus on the roofs,fragility analysis can be used to estimate the probability of failure of a roof when constructed with specified nails and sheathing ***,this paper examines the fragility of specific types of nails,roof-to-wall(RW)connection details,and sheathing sizes based on the damaged roofs that were previously assessed in the Dunrobin area in Ottawa(Ontario)that was hit with an Enhanced Fujita(EF3)tornado on September 21,*** presented fragility analysis considers four scenarios,including different sheathing and nail *** loads,wind loads,and resistance on the sheathing panels were compiled and analyzed to determine the failure of the examined *** eight fragility models suggest that the safest roof sheathing(RS)is the 1.22 m×1.22 m sheathing panel with 8 d nails,and the safest RW connections is achieved by using H2.5 hurricane clips.

Despite the effectiveness of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography（ERCP） for the treatment of choledocholithiasis, various complications have been described. We herein report the first case of prolonged postERCP jaundice due to toxicity of the contrast agent Iobitridol（~174;XENETIX, Guerbet, Roissy Cd G Cedex, France） in a patient who underwent ERCP with sphincterectomy and common bile duct stone removal. While clinical improvement and normalization of aminotransferases and cholestatic enzymes after the procedure, an unexplained increase of direct bilirubin was noticed. A second ERCP was performed one week later, excluding possible remaining choledocholithiasis. Nevertheless, serum direct bilirubin increased further up to 15 mg/d l. Other potential causes of direct hyperbilirubinemia were ruled out and patient＇s liver biopsy was compatible with drug-induced liver toxicity. Additionally, the cause-result time connection between the use of Iobitridol and bilirubin increase indicated the possibility of a toxic effect related to the repeated use of the particular contrast agent. Iobitridol, a contrast agent, can induce prolonged direct hyperbilirubinemia.

In the present study a specific approach is followed,considering the Pesticide DRASTIC and Susceptibility index(SI)methods and a GIS framework,to assess groundwater vulnerability in the agricultural area of Albenga,in north *** results indicate"high"to"very high"vulnerability to groundwater contamination along the coastline and the middle part of the Albenga plain,for almost 49%and 56%of the total study area for Pesticide DRASTIC and SI methods,*** sensitive regions depict characteristics such as shallow depth to groundwater,extensive deposits of alluvial silty clays,flat topography and intensive agricultural *** distribution of nitrates concentration in groundwater in the study area is slightly better correlated with the SI(0.728)compared to Pesticide DRASTIC(0.693),thus indicating that both methods are characterized by quite good *** analysis was also performed to acknowledge statistical uncertainty in the estimation of each parameter used,assess its impact and thus identify the most critical parameters that require further investigation in the *** to water is the parameter that exhibited the largest impact on the Pesticide DRASTIC vulnerability index followed by the impact of the vadose zone and *** the other hand,the SI method is more sensitive to the removal of the topography parameter followed by the aquifer media and the depth to water parameters.
