AIM:to estimate the prevalence of blindness and visual impairment resulting from cataract in the population aged≥50 y in Hungary,and to assess the cataract surgical ***:A rapid assessment of avoidable blindness(RAAB)was conducted.A total of 3523 eligible people were randomly selected and *** participant underwent surgery for cataract was interviewed with regard to the year,place,and costs of the *** with obvious cataract were asked why they had not yet undergone surgery(barriers to surgery).RESULtS:An estimated 12514 people were bilaterally blind;the visual acuity(VA)in 19293 people wasthe VA in 73962 people wasthe better eye due to *** estimated 77933 eyes are blind;98067 eyes had a VA oftimated 277493 eyes had a VA ofto *** all cataract surgeries were conducted in government *** age-and sexadjusted cataract surgical coverage with VAthe rate of good visual outcome after surgery was 79.5%.Ocular comorbidity was the main cause of poor outcome(78.1%),followed by late complications(such as posterior capsule opacification)(17.2%),inadequate optical correction(3.1%),and surgical complications(1.6%).the main barrier to surgery in people with bilateral cataract and VA oft felt’.CONCLUSION:the prevalence of visual impairment resulting from cataract is slightly higher than *** quality of the cataract surgical service seems adequate in ***,the number of cataract operations per year should continue to increase due to the increasing patient demands and the aging population.

Introduction: Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure involving partial or total removal of the uterus. It is the most common gynaecological surgery in the world. Objective: to describe the epidemio-clinical and prognostic aspects of gynaecological hysterectomies. Patients and methods: this was an 18-month retrospective prospective descriptive study with a six-month follow-up period from 1 December 2020 to 31 May 2022 carried out in the gynaecology department of the Segou regional hospital. Results: Fifty-six (56) hysterectomies were performed out of 118 gynaecological surgical procedures (47.45%). the mean age was 47 ± 11.77 years. Large multiparous women were the most common (50%), with an average parity of 4.58. the main indications were uterine fibroids (30.4%), precancerous lesions of the cervix (17.85%) and uterine prolapse (17.85%). the abdominal route was the most commonly used surgical route (82.14%). Hysterectomy was total in 100% of cases and associated with bilateral adnexectomy in 48.2% of cases. the intra- and post-operative prognosis was satisfactory in 94.6% of cases. No deaths were recorded. the average length of stay was 3.28 days, irrespective of the surgical approach. three cases of dyspareunia were noted among those who had resumed sexual activity.

Introduction: Breech birth has always been a subject of great interest because of its risks of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Aim: the aim of our study was to compare the maternal and perinatal prognosis of breech delivery with that of vertex delivery. Patients and Method: this was a retrospective case-control analytical study carried out in the obstetrics and gynaecology department of Ségou hospital over a 2-year period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021, involving 242 breech deliveries compared with 484 top deliveries with a live single foetus without foetal malformation of gestational age ≥ 35 SA. the statistical tests used were: chi² (p Results: the frequency of breech delivery was 3.3%, with a predominance of caesarean section for breech presentation (64.88%) compared with 32.85% for vertex (P: 0.00;CI: (0.191 - 0.367). the perinatal prognosis of fetuses with breech presentations was marked by a higher rate of neonatal asphyxia (Apgar score Conclusion: Breech birth is relatively rare in our department. It carries a higher risk of maternal morbidity and neonatal morbidity than breech delivery. However, the vital prognosis for the mother was identical in both groups.

AIM： to establish the therapeutic potential of proteasome inhibition, we examined the therapeutic effects of MG132 （z-Leu-Leu-Leu-aldehyde） in an experimental model of acute pancreatitis. MEthODS： Pancreatitis was induced in rats by two hourly intraperitoneal （ip） injections of cholecystokinin octapeptide （CCK; 2×100μg/kg） and the proteasome inhibitor MG132 （10 mg/kg ip） was administered 30 min after the second CCK injection. Animals were sacrificed 4 h after the first injection of CCK. RESULtS： Administering the proteasome inhibitor MG132 （at a dose of 10 mg/kg, ip） 90 min after the onset of pancreatic inflammation induced the expression of cell-protective 72 kDa heat shock protein （HSP72） and decreased DNA-binding of nuclear factor-κB （NF-κB）. Furthermore MG132 treatment resulted in milder inflammatory response and cellular damage, as revealed by improved laboratory and histological parameters of pancreatitis and associated oxidative stress. CONCLUSION： Our findings suggest that proteasome inhibition might be beneficial not only for the prevention, but also for the therapy of acute pancreatitis.

Mechanical properties of Al/a-C nanocomposite thin films synthesized using a plasma focus device

the Al/a-C nanocomposite thin films are synthesized on Si substrates using a dense plasma focus device with alu- minum fitted anode and operating with CH4/Ar admixture. X-ray diffractometer results confirm the formation of metallic crystalline Al phases using different numbers of focus shots. Raman analyses show the formation of D and G peaks for all thin film samples, confirming the presence of a-C in the nanocomposite thin films. the formation of Al/a-C nanocomposite thin films is further confirmed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. the scanning electron microscope results show that the deposited thin films consist of nanoparticles and their agglomerates. the sizes of th agglomerates increase with increasing numbers of focus deposition shots. the nanoindentation results show the variations in hardness and elastic modulus values of nanocomposite thin film with increasing the number of focus shots. Maximum values of hardness and elastic modulus of the composite thin film prepared using 20 focus shots are found to be about 10.7 GPa and 189.2 GPa, respectively.

Approximation Algorithms for 3D Orthogonal Knapsack

We study non-overlapping axis-parallel packings of 3D boxes with profits into a dedicated bigger box where rotation is either forbidden or permitted, and we wish to maximize the total profit. Since this optimiz.tion problem is NP-hard, we focus on approximation algorithms. We obtain fast and simple algorithms for the non-rotational scenario with approximation ratios 9 ＋ ε and 8 ＋ ε, as well as an algorithm with approximation ratio 7 ＋ ε that uses more sophisticated techniques; these are the smallest approximation ratios known for this problem. Furthermore, we show how the used techniques can be adapted to the case where rotation by 90° either around the z-axis or around all axes is permitted, where we obtain algorithms with approximation ratios 6 ＋ ε and 5 ＋ ε, respectively. Finally our methods yield a 3D generaliz.tion of a packability criterion and a strip packing algorithm with absolute approximation ratio 29/4, improving the previously best known result of 45/4.
