Gallstone(GS)disease is common and arises from a combination of genetic and environmental *** genetic abnormalities specifically leading to cholesterol GSs are rare,there are clinically significant gene variants associated with cholesterol *** contrast,most bilirubin GSs can be attributed to genetic *** pathogenesis of cholesterol and bilirubin GSs differs *** GSs are notably influenced by genetic variants within the ABC protein superfamily,including ABCG8,ABCG5,ABCB4,and ABCB11,as well as genes from the apolipoprotein family such as ApoB100 and ApoE(especially the E3/E3 and E3/E4 variants),and members of the MUC ***,bilirubin GSs are associated with genetic variants in highly expressed hepatic genes,notably UGT1A1,ABCC2(MRP2),ABCC3(MRP3),CFTR,and MUC,alongside genetic defects linked to hemolytic anemias and conditions impacting *** genetic cases constitute a small portion of GS disease,recognizing genetic predisposition is essential for proper diagnosis,treatment,and genetic counseling.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is defined as the presence of hepatic fat accumulation after the exclusion of other causes of hepatic steatosis, including other causes of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and other conditions that may lead to hepatic steatosis. NAFLD encompasses a broad clinical spectrum ranging from nonalcoholic fatty liver to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH), advanced fibrosis, cirrhosis, and finally hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). NAFLD is the most common liver disease in the world and NASH may soon become the most common indication for liver transplantation. Ongoing persistence of obesity with increasing rate of diabetes will increase the prevalence of NAFLD, and as this population ages, many will develop cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. There has been a general increase in the prevalence of NAFLD, with Asia leading the rise, yet the United States is following closely behind with a rising prevalence from 15% in 2005 to 25% within 5 years. NAFLD is commonly associated with metabolic comorbidities, including obesity, type Ⅱ diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of NAFLD is constantly evolving. Based on NAFLD subtypes, it has the potential to progress into advanced fibrosis, end-stage liver disease and HCC. The increasing prevalence of NAFLD with advanced fibrosis, is concerning because patients appear toexperience higher liver-related and non-liver-related mortality than the general population. The increased morbidity and mortality, healthcare costs and declining health related quality of life associated with NAFLD makes it a formidable disease, and one that requires more in-depth analysis.

1 Introduction Transcatheter aortic valve implantation （TAVI） or replacement （TAVR） represents nowadays a viable and established therapeutic option in patients with severe aortic stenosis （AS） who are considered high or prohibitive risk for conservative surgical treatment. It has been a long journey requiring almost ten years of preclinical research since the first in man TAVR in 2002. Five more years of clinical trials followed, before ＂Conformité Européene＂（CE） mark- ing and clinical use initiation in Europe.

The effect of seasonally reversing monsoons in the northern Indian Ocean is to impart significant changes in surface salinity（SS）.Here,we report SS changes during the last 32 kyr in the Lakshadweep Sea（southeastern Arabian Sea）estimated from paired measurements of δ18O and sea surface temperature（SST）using Globigerinoides sacculifer,an upper mixed layer dwelling *** heaviest δ***（-0.07±0.08‰）is recorded between 23 and 15 ka,which could be defined as the last glacial maximum（LGM）.The δ*** between the LGM and Holocene is 2.07‰.The SST shows an overall warming of 2℃from the LGM to Holocene（28℃to 30℃）. However,coldest SSTs are observed prior to LGM,i.e.,～27 *** SS was higher（～38 psu） throughout most of the recorded last glacial period（32.5-15 ka）.This high salinity together with generally lower SSTs suggests a period of sustained weaker summer or stronger winter *** deglacial warming is associated with rapid reorganization of monsoons and is reflected in decreased salinity to a modern level of～36.5 psu,within a period of～5 *** indicates intensification of summer monsoons during cold to warm climate transition.

This article reviews recent progresses in the preparation and supercapacitor applications of selected nanoporous and nanoparticulate carbon-based materials,namely activated carbons,graphenes and carbon nanotubes and their composites with redox *** processing steps and graphitization are crucial for making activated *** liquid processing and furnace technology are mainly used in graphene preparation,including curlization,electrolyte incorporation,self-propagating hightemperature synthesis,molten salt technology,and flash joule *** deposition and new dispersion methods open better routes to making carbon nanotube composites of high charge *** storage mechanisms are compared with attention to the facts that activated carbons store ionic charges largely in desirable nanopores,while the ion-accessible external surfaces of nanoparticulates affect the storage performance of graphenes and composites of carbon ***,it is explained that pseudocapacitance can result from partial(or zone)delocalization of electrons in graphenes caused by hetero atoms,oxygen in particular.A highlight of this review is on novel molten salt densified holey graphene that has enabled a high specific energy of 618 Wh kg-1 in supercapattery.

The chemical composition of marabou（Dichrostachys cinerea） wood and its treatment with acetic acid were *** different treatment approaches,direct acetosolv and combined acid prehydrolysis/acetosolv,were *** effects of acetic acid concentration（50%,70% and 90%） and temperature（normal boiling temperature and 121°C） on yield of solids,solubilization of lignin and hemicelluloses and recovery of cellulose were evaluated for both *** solubilization of marabou components was observed in the direct acetosolv treatment at 121°C,especially at the highest acetic acid concentration,where around 84.8% of lignin and 78% of hemicelluloses were *** the material was subjected to acid prehydrolysis prior to acetosolv treatment,lignin solubilization was improved,especially at low acetic acid *** 80% of the solubilized lignin was recovered from the liquors in the direct acetosolv treatment,but the recovery was lower in the combined *** was well preserved in all the treatment schemes.

AIM: To describe a newly-recognized entity, illustrated by five cases of glaucoma in whom trauma to the head, but not the eye, resulted in marked, transient elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP). METHODS: Retrospective case series. Chart review. RESULTS: All five cases had a diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma prior to the experience of trauma to the head. All cases had an unusual elevation of IOP (around 70 percent) for days to weeks following the trauma, after which the IOP fell to pre-accident levels. No cause other than the trauma could be determined. CONCLUSION: The relationship between head trauma and elevation of IOP appears real.

Background:Globally,food allergy[FA]is considered a growing health *** much of what is known comes from developed countries,there is growing interest in the epidemiology of FA in developing regions such as sub-Saharan ***,researchers are beginning to document the incidence and prevalence of FA and *** results outlined in this paper stem from an exploratory qualitative study examining the emergence of the health risk of FA in Ghana,a country undergoing epidemiologic ***:Between june and August,2015,we conducted thirty-seven(37)semi-structured in-depth *** comprised seventeen(17)healthcare workers across 12 public and private hospitals and twenty(20)individuals with FA and families with allergic *** interviews were recorded and transcribed *** were analyzed to develop thematic areas that characterize perceptions and experiences around ***:Three key broad themes arise from this ***,FA is an emerging health risk,whose incidence is perceived to be ***,participants expressed mixed perceptions about the public health burden of ***,participants identified individual and societal factors that may be influencing FA risks and ***:Our research suggests FA is a growing but unrecognized public health *** is the need for health policies and researchers to consider the full extent of ongoing epidemiologic changes for the health of populations in developing regions.
