Physical activity and its relationship with COVID-19 cases and deaths:Analysis of ***

Considerations for bariatric surgery in patients with cirrhosis

With the ever increasing global obesity pandemic, clinical burden from obesity related complications are anticipated in parallel. bariatric surgery, a treatment approved for weight loss in morbidly obese patients, has reported to be associated with good outcomes, such as reversal of type two diabetes mellitus and reducing all-cause mortality on a long term basis. However, complications from bariatric surgery have similarly been reported. In particular, with the onslaught of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) epidemic, in associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome, there is increasing prevalence of NAFLD related liver cirrhosis, which potentially connotes more risk of specific complications for surgery. bariatric surgeons may encounter, either expectedly or unexpectedly, patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) and NASH related cirrhosis more frequently. As such, the issues and considerations surrounding their medical care/surgery warrant careful deliberation to ensure the best outcomes. These considerations include severity of cirrhosis, liver synthetic function, portal hypertension and the impact of surgical factors. This review explores these considerations comprehensively and emphasizes the best approach to managing cirrhotic patients in the context of bariatric surgery.

Friction surfacing of AISI 316 over mild steel: A characteriation study

An attempt has been made with overlaying of stain-less steel on mild steel by the technique of friction surfacing. This investigation elaborates the excellence acquired by different combination of the process parameters used in friction surfacing specifically traverse speed of the cross slide, speed of rotation of the spindle and the uniaxial compressive load. Excellent overlaying has been obtained amongst the chosen materials. To which, the coating can be done with various set of process parameters. It has been observed that the bond strength of the coating was found to be at a maximum of 502 MPa by ram tensile *** upon this results the surface methodology was characterized with scanning electron *** authenticating the results, the coated specimen was subjected to salt spray test. The bonding microstructure was characterized using optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Corrosion resistance of surfaced coatings was found to be more inferior to that of mechtrode material and greater with the substrate.

Exploring the configuration space of elemental carbon with empirical and machine learned interatomic potentials

We demonstrate how the many-body potential energy landscape of carbon can be explored with the nested sampling algorithm,allowing for the calculation of its pressure-temperature phase *** compare four interatomic potential models:Tersoff,EDIP,GAP-20 and its recently updated version,*** evaluation is focused on their macroscopic properties,melting transitions,and identifying thermodynamically stable solid structures up to at least 100 *** phase diagrams of the GAP models show good agreement with experimental ***,we find that the models’description of graphite includes thermodynamically stable phases with incorrect layer *** adding a suitable selection of structures to the database and re-training the potential,we have derived an improved model—GAP-20U+gr—that suppresses erroneous local minima in the graphitic energy *** extreme high pressure nested sampling identifies two novel stable structures in the GAP-20 model,however,the stability of these is not confirmed by electronic structure calculations,highlighting routes to further extend the applicability of the GAP models.

barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer outperforms Hong Kong Liver Cancer staging of hepatocellular carcinoma in multiethnic Asians: Real-world perspective

To compare the barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (bCLC) and Hong Kong Liver Cancer (HKLC) classification systems when applied to HCC patients from the largest tertiary-level centre in *** thousand two hundred and seventy hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients prospectively enrolled in a tertiary-level centre registry in Singapore since 1988 were studied. Patients were grouped into their respective bCLC and HKLC stages. Data such as demography, aetiology of HCC and type of treatment were collected. Survival data was based on census with the National Registry of births and Deaths on 31st October 2015. Statistical analyses were done using SPSS version 21 (Chicago, IL, United States). Survival analyses were done by the Kaplan-Meier method. Differences in survival rates were compared using the log-rank *** median age at presentation was 63 years (range 13-94); male 82.4%; Chinese 89.4%, Malay 7.1%, Indian, 2.8%. Hepatitis b was the predominant aetiology (75.0%; Hepatitis C 7.2%, Hepatitis b and C co-infection 3.8%, non-viral 14.0%). both bCLC and HKLC staging systems showed good separation with overall log rank test confirming significant survival differences between stages in our cohort (P by the bCLC treatment algorithm received curative therapy for HCC [Stage 0 93.2% (68/73); Stage A 82.6% (138/167)]. In contrast, only 341/558 (61.1%) patients received curative treatment despite being assigned for curative treatment by the HKLC treatment algorithm [Stage I 72.7% (264/363); Stage II 40.2% (66/164); Stage Va 35.5% (11/31)]. Patients who were assigned to curative treatment by HKLC but did not receive curative treatment had significantly poorer ECOG (P < 0.001), higher Child-Pugh status (P < 0.001) and were older (median age 66 vs 61, P < 0.001) than those who received curative therapy. Tricube Weighted Linear Regression and Interquartile for Cloud Infrastructural Resource Optimization

Cloud infrastructural resource optimization is the process of precisely selecting the allocating the correct resources either to a workload or *** workload execution,accuracy,and cost are accurately stabilized in opposition to the best possible framework in real-time,efficiency is *** addition,every workload or application required for the framework is characteristic and these essentials change over ***,the existing method was failed to ensure the high Quality of Service(QoS).In order to address this issue,a Tricube Weighted Linear Regression-based Inter Quartile(TWLR-IQ)for Cloud Infrastructural Resource Optimization is introduced.A Tricube Weighted Linear Regression is presented in the proposed method to estimate the resources(i.e.,CPU,RAM,and network bandwidth utilization)based on the usage history in each cloud ***,Inter Quartile Range is applied to efficiently predict the overload hosts for ensuring a smooth *** results show that our proposed method is better than the approach in Cloudsim under various performance *** results clearly showed that the proposed method can reduce the energy consumption and provide a high level of commitment with ensuring the minimum number of Virtual Machine(VM)Migrations as compared to the state-of-the-art methods.

Ethnobotanical database based screening and identification of potential plant species with antiplasmodial activity against chloroquine-sensitive(3D7) strain of Plasmodium falciparum

Objective: To evaluate the antiplasmodial activity of aqueous-methanolic plant extracts of nine plant species selected, based on ethnobotanical data. Methods: based on ethnobotanical database, the selected plants were tested for their antiplasmodial activity against chloroquinesensitive(3 D7) strain of Plasmodium falciparum. Qualitative tests and high performance thin layer chromatography analysis were carried out to explore the phytocomponents present in the plant extracts. 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl antioxidant activity was also determined to check the antioxidant activity of the plant extracts. Results: Moringa oleifera(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL),Acalypha indica(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Hyptis suaveolens(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Mangifera indica(IC_(50): 4.150 μg/mL) and Averrhoa bilimbi(IC_(50): 4.881 μg/mL) showed very good antiplasmodial activity. Conclusions: Crude extracts of Mangifera indica and Hyptis suaveolens demonstrated the most efficacious antimalarial activity. A bioassay-guided fractionation of these extracts to identify the lead compound is proved to be useful. The results validate the traditional use of the selected plants as antimalarials.
