Leachate plum.s from.landfills are a m.jor source of pollution in Nigeria, especially in urban areas. Assessing leachate contam.nation in the subsoil is considered a com.lex process that needs detailed field m.asurem.nt to accurately define the extent of contam.nation. To ascertain the extent of pollution of the subsoil and groundwater sources which were reportedly contam.nated by leachate plum.s from.an old dum.site located in Osubi town, an integrated geo-electrical m.thod involving 1-D vertical electrical sounding (VES) and 2-D, 3-D ERT techniques were em.loyed. Orthogonal set of 2-D apparent resistivity data was collected in a 100 × 50 m.sup>2 rectangular grid around the dum.site, using the Wenner array. Two years later, three (3) 2-D resistivity im.ging profiles were also recorded in tim.-lapse m.de at the dum.site to m.nitor the possible effects of attenuation on the leachate over tim.. Ten (10) VES data were also acquired and used along with the 2-D im.ging data. 2-D apparent resistivity data were inverted with Dipprowin software program. The orthogonal set of 2-D lines of apparent resistivity was m.rged into 3-D data and inverted with RES3DINV program.to create a 3-D subsurface resistivity m.del. Geological m.dels observed from.2-D and 3-D resistivity inversion revealed low resistivity values in the order ρ Ω·m.which is indicative of leachate plum.s in the saturation zone (pore water). The 2-D resistivity-depth sections im.ged low resistivity leachate plum.s at the near surface (m. to a depth of 25.0 m. while 3-D inversion depth slices im.ged leachate contam.nant within the first, second and third layers at depth ranging from.0.00 - 2.50 m. 2.50 - 5.38 m.and 5.38 - 8.68 m.respectively. Thus, leachate contam.nation clearly increased with depth beyond the depth of first and second aquifers in the area which im.lies that available groundwater for dom.stic use is already contam.nated with leachate from.the dum.site. Leachate contam.nant-depth m.p estim.

Purpose: To evaluate axial length before and after the photorefractive keratectom. (PRK) and laser in situ keratom.leusis (LASIK). Setting: Alhokam. Eye Center, Riyadh Saudi Arabia. Design: A cross-sectional study. m.thods: The study sam.le was com.rised of 106 eyes of 54 patients. Patients were divided into 2 groups based on whether they had photorefractive surgery (PRK group) or laser in situ keratom.luesis (LASIK group). The intra-group com.arison was perform.d of the changes in axial length before and after surgery using IOLm.ster. P Results: There were 76 eyes (39 patients) in the PRK group with the m.an age of 25.10 ± 3.47 years, the m.an preoperative spherical equivalent of -3.16 ± 1.75 D, and the m.an preoperative axial length of 24.79 ± 1.02 m.. In the LASIK group, there were 30 eyes (15 patients) with the m.an age of 25.13 ± 4.91 years and the m.an preoperative spherical equivalent of -5.58 ± 1.98 D and the m.an preoperative axial length of 25.67 ± 1.35 m.. Postoperatively, the m.an axial length was 24.70 ± 1.14 m. in the PRK group and 25.60 ± 1.33 m. in the LASIK group. The m.an change between the preoperative and postoperative axial length was statically significant in both groups (P Conclusion: There was a statically significant decrease in the axial length m.asurem.nts after PRK or LASIK for m.opia.

The sm.rt novel ratio difference spectrophotom.tric m.thod was developed and validated for the determ.nation of a binary m.xture of Sodium.crom.glicate (SCG) and Fluorom.tholone (FLU) in presence of benzalkonium.chloride without prior separation. The results were com.ared to that of the conventional m.thods (dual wavelength and first derivative of ratio spectra). The suggested m.thods were validated in com.liance with the ICH guidelines and were successfully applied for determ.nation of SCG and FLU in their laboratory prepared m.xtures and com.ercial ophthalm.c solution. The novel m.thod showed significant advantages over the conventional m.thods regarding sim.licity, m.nim.l data m.nipulation and m.xim.m.reproducibility and robustness;which enabled the analysis of binary m.xtures with overlapped spectra for routine quality control testing with quite satisfactory.

For high risk prostate cancer, the treatm.nt volum.s and even dose levels are still a controversial issue. The aim.of this study is to evaluate the dosem.tric param.ters and acute toxicity of dose-escalated whole pelvis (WP) Intensity m.dulated Radiation Therapy (Im.T) and volum.tric m.dulated arc therapy (Vm.T) prostate boost following neoadjuvant and concom.tant with androgen deprivation therapy in high-risk prostate cancer patients. This analysis included 73 high-risk prostate cancer patients treated with WP-Im.T followed by boost to the prostate by Vm.T to total dose of 80 Gy;between January 2014 and October 2016. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) was given for all patients before and during radiation therapy. Drawing the dose volum. histogram. (DVHs) was done for planning target volum.s (PTVs), including Prostate PTV & nodal PTV, and organs at risk including rectum. bladder, fem.ral heads, and bowel bag for the plans. Acute radiation toxicities were reported during the radiation course and the following 3 m.nths. The DVH analysis showed good coverage of PTVs and organs at risk doses were acceptable. No recorded acute Grade ≥ 3 toxicity. Acute grade 1 toxicity for Gastrointestinal (GI) and Genitourinary (GU) were 65% and 35% respectively, while Grade 2 toxicity was 30% for both. The Proctitis and frequency were the com.onest acute toxicity and were m.xim.l during the 5th week of radiation therapy. Dose escalation in two phases utilizing Sim.ltaneous integrated boost (SIB) com.ined with ADT in high risk prostate cancer patient is feasible and associated with acceptable acute GI and GU toxicity.

Cold-form.d steel structures are steel structure products constructed from.sheets or coils using cold rolling, press brake or bending brake m.thod. These structures are extensively em.loyed in building construction industry due to their light m.ss, ductility by econom.c cold form.ng operations, favorable strength-to-m.ss ratio and other factors. The utilization of cold form.d steel sections with concrete as com.osite can hugely reduce the construction cost. However, the use of cold form.d steel m.m.ers in com.osite concrete beam. has been very lim.ted. A com.rehensive review of developm.nts in com.osite beam.with cold form.d steel sections was introduced. It was revealed that em.loying cold-form.d steel channel section to replace reinforcem.nt bars in conventional reinforced concrete beam.results in a significant cost reduction without reducing strength capacity. The use of com.osite beam.consisting of cold-form.d steel open or close box and filled concrete could also reduce construction cost. Lighter com.osite girder for bridges with cold-form.d steel of U section was introduced. m.reover, types of shear connectors to provide com.osite action between cold-form.d steel beam.and concrete slab were presented. However, further studies to investigate the effects of m.tal decking on the behavior of com.osite beam.with cold-form.d steel section and introduction of ductile shear connectors were recom.ended.

Background: Neonatal seizures are the m.st prom.nent feature of neurological dysfunction during neonatal period, which are abnorm.l electrical discharges in the central nervous system.of neonates, usually m.nifest as stereotyped m.scular activity or autonom.c changes, occurring in approxim.tely 1.8 - 3.5/1000 live birth. Objective: The aim. of study are to determ.ne prevalence rate, natural history, tim. of onset, etiological factors, clinical types and the short term.outcom. of neonatal convulsion. Settings: This study conducted in Neonatal Departm.nt at Benghazi Children Hospital—Libya. Patients and m.thods: Descriptive cross sectional study, included all neonates who developing clinically identifiable seizures, adm.tted from.1st of m.rch 2013 to 1st of m.rch 2014. The data collected by using a designed perform.including;gender, nationality, residence, place of transfer, gestational age, tim. of onset, m.de of delivery, and history of m.ternal diseases, fam.ly history of neonatal seizures in previous siblings or death, jaundice and exchange transfusion were taken. Details exam.nation include dysm.rphic features, weight, head circum.erence were recorded. Types of seizures were diagnosed by clinical observations, and the etiology of neonatal seizures had been identified from.im.ging study and from.initial relevant investigations which include blood glucose levels, arterial blood gases, serum.calcium. electrolytes, phosphate and cerebrospinal fluid exam.nation for evidence of infection. In addition to treatm.nts received, as well as causes of deaths. Results: A total of 2842 neonates were adm.tted to NNW, out of which 150 had seizures. 86 (57%) were m.le with m.F ratio of 1.3:1. Iraq relies greatly on the flow of the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers and their tributaries. Five tributaries nam.ly Khabour, Greater Zab, Lesser Zab, AlAdhiam.and Daylia, which are the m.jor tributaries of Tigris River, sustain Northern Iraq Region, a sem.-arid, m.inly a pastureland. These tributaries contribute about 24 km. of water annually. The discharge in the tributaries, in recent tim.s, has been suffering increasing variability contributing to m.re severe droughts and floods apparently due to clim.te change. This is because there were no dam. constructed outside Iraq previously. For an appropriate appreciation, Soil Water Assessm.nt Tool (SWAT) m.del was used to evaluate the im.act of clim.te change on their discharge for a half-centennial lead tim. to 2046-2064 and a centennial lead tim. to 2080-2100. The suitability of the m.del was first evaluated, and then, outputs from.six GCm. were incorporated to evaluate the im.acts of clim.te change on water resources under three em.ssion scenarios: A1B, A2 and B1.
