Favipiravir and its potentials in COVID-19 pandemic:An update

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused millions of deaths and hundreds of millions of confirmed infections *** pandemic has prompted researchers to produce medications or vaccines to reduce or stop the progression and spread of this disease.A variety of previously licensed and marketed medications are being tested for the treatment and recurrence of SARS-CoV2,including favipiravir(Avigan).Favipiravir was recognized as an influenza antiviral drug in Japan in 2014,and has been known to have a potential in vitro activity against SARS-CoV-2,in addition to its broad therapeutic safety *** was recently approved and officially used in many countries *** review provides insights and up-to-date knowledge of the current role of favipiravir in the treatment of COVID-19 infection,focusing on preclinical and ongoing clinical trials,evidence of its efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 in COVID-19,side effects,anti-viral mechanism,and the pharmacokinetic properties of the drug in the treatment of *** to its teratogenic effects,favipiravir cannot be offered to expectant or pregnant *** practical efficacy of such an intervention regimen will depend on its dose,treatment duration,and cost as well as difficulties in application.

Conveyor Belt Crop Dryer Modelling: A Comprehensive Review

This review paper presents an in-depth investigation of the modeling techniques used to study conveyor belt dryers. These techniques are classified into four categories: theoretical modeling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), empirical, and performance under different control strategies. Within the theoretical and CFD categories, the models are further classified as transient and steady state, as well as one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional. The empirical approach involves conducting experimental studies to collect moisture ratio data during the drying process and comparing it with empirical models. The methods of control are divided into classical and advanced controllers, with classical controllers including proportional-integral (PI), proportional-integral-derivative (PID), and quantitative feedback theory (QFT) controllers. Advanced controllers consist of artificial intelligence-based controllers, such as artificial neural networks (ANN), adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS), nonlinear autoregressive exogenous (NARX) models, model predictive control (MPC), and soft sensors. This review elucidated the methodologies and software employed for each modeling technique, as well as their prospective utility in industrial contexts. The utilization of theoretical and CFD methodologies is advantageous in forecasting the dynamics of complex systems. Conversely, empirical techniques serve the purpose of validating theoretical models and procuring data to facilitate model refinement. Controllers play a crucial role in the optimization of the drying process and the attainment of desired outputs.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Albendazole Drug in Tablets： Spectroscopic Characterization of the Chargetransfer Solid Complexes

Simple, rapid and reliable method for the determination of albendazole （ABZ） was described. This includes the utility of some π-acceptors such as 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone （DDQ） and 3,6-dichloro-2,5-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone （p-CLA） for estimation of ABZ drug （act as donor）. The experimental conditions were optimized and the system obeys Beer＇s law for 7.50-80 and 10.00-85.00 ug·mL-1 of ABZ using DDQ and p-CLA, respectively. The molar absorptivity and Sandell sensitivity were calculated to be 1.83× 10^3 and 1.12× 10^3 L·mol ·cm -1 and 2.60 and 3.40 ng·cm -2 using DDQ and p-CLA, respectively. The limits of detection and quantification were calculated to be （7.42 and 6.73） and （9.94 and 4.13） ug·mL-1 using DDQ and p-CLA, respectively. The proposed methods were successfully applied to the determination of ABZ in commercially available dosage forms. The reliability of the assays was established by parallel determination by the official method and recovery studies. The chemical structures of the solid charge-transfer （CT） complexes formed via reaction between ABZ under study and π-acceptors, have been elucidated using elemental analyses （C, H and N）, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra.

Erosion control of Chinese loess using polymer SH and ryegrass

The China Loess Plateau is subjected to severe soil erosion triggered by intense rainfall,resulting in significant harm and losses to both human society and the natural *** this study,a novel technique for managing loess erosion is introduced,which involves the utilization of a combined polymer SH and ryegrass.A comprehensive series of tests were undertaken,including rainfall erosion tests,disintegration experiments,and scanning electron microscopy examinations,to assess the accumulative sediment yield(ASY),disintegration ratio,and microstructural features of both untreated and treated loess *** results showed a significant reduction in ASY with increased dry density of untreated ***,the combined technique effectively controlled erosion,limiting ASY to 266.2 g/cm^(2)in 60 *** was approximately one-sixth,one-ninth,and one-fifteenth of the ASY in SH-treated loess(L-SH),ryegrass-treated loess(L-R),and untreated loess,*** resisted disintegration better than ryegrass alone but slightly less than *** improvement was due to the combined effect of SH and ryegrass,which reduced raindrop impact,improved loess microstructure,and boosted ryegrass *** innovative technique holds the potential to be applied as a field-scale technique in the Loess Plateau region of China.

In this paper,we propose a modular multilevel converter(MMC)with a wireless magnetic power decoupling approach suitable for medium-voltage high-power variable-speed machine *** proposed power decoupling approach is independent of the operating frequency,which solves the issue of wide fluctuations of low-frequency voltage ripple components in submodule(SM)capacitors,especially at low-speed operations without using any ripple power *** wireless magnetic elements reduces the amount of high-voltage insulation between the transformer windings,resulting in a significant reduction in the overall size of the *** basic idea of our proposed approach is to magnetically couple the instantaneous three-phase ripple power of each of the three adjacent-arm *** proposed MMC is free from low-frequency capacitors,resulting in enhanced system reliability,volume,and *** operation principles of the proposed MMC are explained,and a control design is *** performance of the proposed scheme was verified via simulation and experimental tests.

Geochemical characteristics and spectrometric prospecting in the muscovite-bearing pegmatites and granites, southeastern Aswan, Egypt

Rare metal mineralization of Sn, Nb-Ta and W is encountered in the Gebel Dihmit area (GDA), south- eastern Aswan, Egypt. The mineralization is related to muscovite granites and their pegmatite derivatives. The peg- matites are divided into three types according to their main mineral assemblages: K-feldspar-muscovite-tourmaline, K-feldspar-albite-muscovite and albite-K-feldspar-lepidolite veins. Petrogenetic studies indicate that Sn and Nb-Ta mineralization extends from the late-magmatic stage to the pegmatite and hydrothermal stages of the (GDA) suite. The albite-K-feldspar-lepidolite granite is composed dominantly of albite, lepidolote, and quartz, with topaz, K-feldspar and amblygonite. The accessory minerals are zircon, monazite, pollucite, columbite-tantalite, microlite and Ta-rich cassiterite. Phenocrysts of quartz, topaz and K-feldspar contain abundant inclusions of albite laths and occasional lepidolite crystals along growth zones (snowball texture), indicating simultaneous crystallization from a subsolvus, residual magma. The origin of the pegmatites is attributed to extreme differentiation by fractional crystal- lization of a granitic magma. The economic potential for rare metals was evaluated in the geochemical discrimination diagrams. Accordingly, some of the pegmatites are not only highly differentiated in terms of alkalis, but also the promising targets for small-scale Ta and, to a less extent, Sn. The pegmatites also provide the first example of Fe-Mn and Nb-Ta fractionation in successive generations of granites to cassiterite-bearing pegmatites, which perfectly ex- hibit similar fractionation trends established for primary columbite-tantalite in the corresponding categories of peg- matites. Uranium and Th of magmatic origin are indicated by the presence of thorite and allanite, whereas evidence of hydrothermal mineralization is the alteration of rock- foring minerals such as feldspar and the formation of sec- ondary minerals such as uranophane..

Facies Associations and Sequence Stratigraphy of the Toarcian Marrat Formation(Saudi Arabia) and Their Equivalents in Some Gondwanaland Regions

The Toarcian Marrat Formation is exposed in outcrops in central Saudi Arabia and displays a variety of clastic and carbonate facies associated with well-preserved depositional geometries. It is unconformably overlies the Triassic Minjur Formation and it in turn is overlaid by the Middle Jurassic Dhruma Formation. Thirteen lithofacies types can be identified that permit the recognition of five lithofacies associations in a mixed clastic/carbonate platform. These lithofacies range from low-energy peritidal, intertidal, and back-shoal to moderate-and high-energy shoal and foreshoal lithofacies associations. The Marrat Formation exhibits three depositional sequences, each sequence is grouped into a transgressive systems tract(TST) and a highstand systems tract(HST) and then bounded by sequence boundary surfaces(SBSs). The TSTs are generally identified in clastic tidal-flat beds and back-shoal wackestones, while the HST is generally recorded in the carbonate tidal-flat and shoal. The vertical succession of facies associations from peritidal to foreshoal depositional environments is indicative of a deepening upward and retrogradational systems tract, from Lower to Upper Toarcian. The correlation between the studied sections reveals a general shallowing towards the south and the similarities between the studied sequences and others in the Arabian Gulf, the northern Neo-Tethys Plate, and Gondwanaland countries.

Hybrid Feature Selection Method for Predicting Alzheimer’s Disease Using Gene Expression Data

Gene expression(GE)classification is a research trend as it has been used to diagnose and prognosis many *** machine learning(ML)in the prediction of many diseases based on GE data has been a flourishing research ***,some diseases,like Alzheimer’s disease(AD),have not received considerable attention,probably owing to data scarcity *** this work,we shed light on the prediction of AD from GE data accurately using *** approach consists of four phases:preprocessing,gene selection(GS),classification,and performance *** the preprocessing phase,gene columns are preprocessed *** the GS phase,a hybrid filtering method and embedded method are *** the classification phase,three ML models are implemented using the bare minimum of the chosen genes obtained from the previous *** final phase is to validate the performance of these classifiers using different *** crux of this article is to select the most informative genes from the hybrid method,and the best ML technique to predict AD using this minimal set of *** different datasets are used to achieve our *** predict AD with impressive values forMultiLayer Perceptron(MLP)classifier which has the best performance metrics in four datasets,and the Support Vector Machine(SVM)achieves the highest performance values in only one *** assessed the classifiers using sevenmetrics;and received impressive results,allowing for a credible performance *** metrics values we obtain in our study lie in the range[.97,.99]for the accuracy(Acc),[.97,.99]for F1-score,[.94,.98]for kappa index,[.97,.99]for area under curve(AUC),[.95,1]for precision,[.98,.99]for sensitivity(recall),and[.98,1]for *** these results,the proposed approach outperforms recent interesting *** these results,the proposed approach outperforms recent interesting results.

Geochemistry of lamprophyres associated with uranium mineralization, Southeastern Desert, Egypt

Two brecciated shear zones (NNW-SSE) are found crosscutting cataclastic rocks. The cataclastic rocks (3.0 km2) occupy the core of the granitic pluton and enclose a roof pendant of mafic-ultramafic rocks. The NNW-SSE-extending lamprophyre dykes vary in thickness from 0.5 m to 1 m and up to 800 m long, cutting the cataclastic rocks and are composed mainly of plagioclases, amphiboles, relics of pyroxenes and K-feldspar phenocrysts embedded in fine-grained groundmass. They are characterized as being peraluminous, calc-alkaline in composition (chemical trap) and enriched in calcite, sulfide and P2O5. The lamprophyres were affected by hydrothermal alteration (chlorite-carbonate alteration) while the cataclastic rocks were affected by diagenetic alteration (K-feldspar-albite alteration). Uranium mineralization is the product of hydrothermal events and has been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), involving primary uranium minerals (U3O8) and secondary uranium minerals (uranophane and beta-uranophane, kasolite, torbernite, autonite and meta-autonite) in addition to U- bearing minerals (astrocyanite, betafite and fergusonite). The presence of different mineral parageneses associated with clay minerals indicates that the lamprophyres were subjected to acidic and alkaline mineralizing solutions. Moreover, the U-Zr/U, U-Ce/U values show negative correlations, confirming U-enrichment in both cataclastic rocks and shear zones while the Th-eU/eTh, Th-Zr/Th and Th-Ce/Th values show negative correlations, indicating that the U-bearing solutions are rich in Th in the cataclastic rocks only.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)provide a reliable and energyefficient solution for data collection from the Narrowband Internet of Things(NB-IoT)***,the UAV’s deployment optimization,including locations of the UAV’s stop points,is a necessity to minimize the energy consumption of the UAV and the NB-IoT devices and also to conduct the data collection *** this regard,this paper proposes GainingSharing Knowledge(GSK)algorithm for optimizing the UAV’s *** GSK,the number of UAV’s stop points in the three-dimensional space is encapsulated into a single individual with a fixed length representing an entire *** superiority of using GSK in the tackled problem is verified by simulation in seven *** provides significant results in all seven scenarios compared with other four optimization algorithms used before with the same ***,the NB-IoT is proposed as the wireless communication technology between the UAV and IoT devices.
