Optimized the vanadium electrolyte with sulfate-phosphoric mixed acids to enhance the stable operation at high-temperature

Herein, the influence of the concentration design and comprehensive performance of the sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte is investigated to realize an electrolyte that maintains high energy density and stable operation at high temperatures. Static stability tests have shown that VOPO4 precipitation occurs only with vanadium(V) electrolyte. The concentration of vanadium ion of 2.0–2.2 mol·L^(–1), phosphoric acid of 0.10–0.15 mol·L^(–1), and sulfuric acid of 2.5–3.0 mol·L^(–1) are suitable for a vanadium redox flow battery in the temperature range from –20 to 50 ℃. The equations for predicting the viscosity and conductivity of electrolytes are obtained by the response surface method. The optimized electrolyte overcomes precipitation generation. It has 2.8 times higher energy density than the non-phosphate electrolyte, and a coulomb efficiency of 94.0% at 50 ℃. The sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte promotes the electrode reaction process, increases the current density, and reduces the resistance. This work systematically optimizes the concentrations of composition of positive and negative vanadium electrolytes with mixed sulfate-phosphoric acid. It provides a basis for the different valence states and comprehensive properties of sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system vanadium electrolytes under extreme environments, guiding engineering applications.

An Analytical Method for Delineating Feasible Region for PV Integration Capacities in Net-zero Distribution Systems Considering Battery Energy Storage System Flexibility

To provide guidance for photovoltaic(PV)system integration in net-zero distribution systems(DSs),this paper proposes an analytical method for delineating the feasible region for PV integration capacities(PVICs),where the impact of battery energy storage system(BESS)flexibility is considered.First,we introduce distributionally robust chance constraints on network security and energy/carbon net-zero requirements,which form the upper and lower bounds of the feasible region.Then,the formulation and solution of the feasible region is proposed.The resulting analytical expression is a set of linear inequalities,illustrating that the feasible region is a polyhedron in a high-dimensional space.A procedure is designed to verify and adjust the feasible region,ensuring that it satisfies network loss constraints under alternating current(AC)power flow.Case studies on the 4-bus system,the IEEE 33-bus system,and the IEEE 123-bus system verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.It is demonstrated that the proposed method fully captures the spatio-temporal coupling relationship among PVs,loads,and BESSs,while also quantifying the impact of this relationship on the boundaries of the feasible region.

Constructing high coordination number of Ir-O-Ru bonds in IrRuO_(x)nanomeshes for highly stable acidic oxygen evolution reaction

IrRu bimetallic oxides are recognized as the promising acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)catalysts,but breaking the trade-off between their activity and stability is an unresolved question.Meanwhile,addressing the issues of mass transport obstruction of IrRu bimetallic oxides under high current remains a challenge for the development of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEM-WE).Herein,we prepared an IrRuO_(x)nanomeshes(IrRuO_(x)NMs)with high coordination number(CN)of Ir-O-Ru bonds in a mixed molten salt with high solubility of the Ir/Ru precursor.X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis revealed that the IrRuO_(x)NMs possess high coordination number of Ir-O-Ru bonds(CNIr-O-Ru=5.6)with a distance of 3.18Å.Moreover,the nanomesh structures of IrRuO_(x)NMs provided hierarchical channels to accelerate the transport of oxygen and water,thus further improving the electrochemical activity.Consequently,the IrRuO_(x)NMs as OER catalysts can simultaneously achieve high activity and stability with low overpotential of 196 mV to reach 10 mA·cm^(−2)and slightly increase by 70 mV over 650 h test.Differential electrochemical mass spectrometry tests suggest that the preferred OER mechanism for IrRuO_(x)NMs is the adsorbent evolution mechanism,which is beneficial for the robust structural stability.

Branched alkanes are ubiquitous in the troposphere and play an important role in the chemical processes.In this work,the rate constants and products for the reaction of Cl atoms with 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane were measured at room temperature(298±0.2K)and atmospheric pressure using a conventional relative rate method.The rate constants of 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane in units of cm~3/(mol·sec)are(3.09±0.31)×10^(-10)and(3.67±0.40)×10^(-10),respectively.Furthermore,the corresponding atmospheric lifetime of the studied branched alkanes with Cl was 6.92-89.90 hours and 5.82-75.69 hours,respectively.The estimated atmospheric lifetimes indicated that the reaction with Cl atoms could be the most important atmospheric degradation pathway for 3-methylhexane and2-methylheptane.Primary gas-phase products of the reactions were identified and quantified,and particle-phase products were also obtained.The atmosphere oxidation mechanism of Cl atoms with 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane is proposed.The SOA yields of 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane from the reaction of Cl atoms were determined to be7.96%±0.89%and 13.35%±1.50%respectively.Overall,the results reveal that the primary loss process of branched alkanes is the reaction with Cl atoms,which impacts its degradation on a regional scale.

Essential Players in Cooperative Games with Graph Communication Structure

A class of cooperative games with graph communication structure is studied in this paper by considering some important players,namely essential players.Under the assumption that only connected coalitions containing essential players are able to cooperate and obtain their worths,the class of graph games with essential players is proposed as well as an allocation rule.The proposed value follows the spirit of the Myerson value defined by applying the Shapley value on a modified game.Three properties,feasible component efficiency,the inessential component property,and fairness,are provided to fully characterize this value,where feasible component efficiency and fairness follows the same ideas of component efficiency and fairness for classical graph games,and the inessential component property says that the total payoffs of the players in a non-feasible component is zero.Moreover,some computational aspects of the proposed value and comparisons with disjunctive permission value for games with permission structure are also studied,respectively.

Nuclear phylogenomics of angiosperms and insights into their relationships and evolution

Angiosperms(flowering plants) are by far the most diverse land plant group with over 300,000 species. The sudden appearance of diverse angiosperms in the fossil record was referred to by Darwin as the “abominable mystery,”hence contributing to the heightened interest in angiosperm evolution. Angiosperms display wide ranges of morphological, physiological,and ecological characters, some of which have probably influenced their species richness. The evolutionary analyses of these characteristics help to address questions of angiosperm diversification and require well resolved phylogeny. Following the great successes of phylogenetic analyses using plastid sequences,dozens to thousands of nuclear genes from next-generation sequencing have been used in angiosperm phylogenomic analyses, providing well resolved phylogenies and new insights into the evolution of angiosperms. In this review we focus on recent nuclear phylogenomic analyses of large angiosperm clades, orders, families,and subdivisions of some families and provide a summarized Nuclear Phylogenetic Tree of Angiosperm Families. The newly established nuclear phylogenetic relationships are highlighted and compared with previous phylogenetic results. The sequenced genomes of Amborella,Nymphaea, Chloranthus, Ceratophyllum, and species of monocots, Magnoliids, and basal eudicots, have facilitated the phylogenomics of relationships among five major angiosperms clades. All but one of the 64 angiosperm orders were included in nuclear phylogenomics with well resolved relationships except the placements of several orders. Most families have been included with robust and highly supported placements, especially for relationships within several large and important orders and families.Additionally, we examine the divergence time estimation and biogeographic analyses of angiosperm on the basis of the nuclear phylogenomic frameworks and discuss the differences compared with previous analyses. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most prevalent type of chronic liver disease.However,the disease is underappreciated as a remarkable chronic disorder as there are rare managing strategies.Several studies have focused on determining NAFLD-caused hepatocyte death to elucidate the disease pathoe-tiology and suggest functional therapeutic and diagnostic options.Pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and necroptosis are the main subtypes of non-apoptotic regulated cell deaths(RCDs),each of which represents particular characteristics.Considering the complexity of the findings,the present study aimed to review these types of RCDs and their contribution to NAFLD progression,and subsequently discuss in detail the role of necroptosis in the pathoetiology,diagnosis,and treatment of the disease.The study revealed that necroptosis is involved in the occurrence of NAFLD and its progression towards steatohepatitis and cancer,hence it has potential in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.Nevertheless,further studies are necessary.

Nutrient transport following water transfer through the world's largest water diversion channel

Nutrient levels in the artificial channel constructed for the Middle Route Project are significant indicators of water quality safety and aquatic ecological integrity for this large,interbasin scheme.However,the distribution and transport of nutrients along the channel were poorly understood.Based on a time-series dataset as well as mass balance and material flow analysis methods,the water and nutrient transport fluxes in the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project were identified in this study.The results indicate that the nutrient concentrations varied considerably with time,but there was no significant difference among the 30 stations of the main channel.Seasonal temperature difference was the major factor in the large fluctuations of water quality indicators over time.The nutrient loadings varied with the water volume outputs from the main channel to the waterreceiving cities.Atmospheric deposition was an important source of nutrients in the main channel,accounting for 9.13%,20.6%,and 0.635%of the nitrogen,phosphorus,and sulfur input from the Danjiangkou Reservoir,respectively.In 2021,a net accumulation of 988 tons of N,29 tons of P,and 2,540 tons of S,respectively,were present in the main channel.The increase of these external and internal nutrient loadings would cause water quality fluctuation and deterioration in some local sections of the main channel.Our study quantified the spatial and temporal patterns of nutrient transport in the Middle Route and revealed the ecological effects on the aquatic environment,assisting authorities on the project to develop effective water conservation strategies.

Comparison of tailpipe carbonyls and volatile organic compounds emissions from in-use gasoline/CNG bi-fuel vehicles

Ground-level ozone contamination has been globally an urban air quality issue,particularly for China,which has recently made significant progress in purifying its sky.Unregulated exhaust emissions from motor vehicles,predominantly carbonyls and volatile organic compounds(VOCs),are among the leading contributors to ozone formation.In this chassislevel study,the unregulated emissions from five China-5 certified gasoline/CNG bi-fuel taxis,along with their ozone forming potential(OFP),were evaluated.It is found that carbonyls and VOCs were mainly emitted during the starting phase no matter the engine was cold or hot.Compared to gasoline,CNG fueling reduced VOCs emissions on a large scale,especially in the starting phase,but had elevated carbonyls.On a fleet average,CNG fueling derived 15%and 46%less OFP than gasoline in cold-and hot-start tests,respectively.VOCs contributed to over 90%of the total OFP of the exhaust.In terms of alleviating ground-level ozone contamination,CNG is a feasible alternative to gasoline on light-duty vehicles.

Constraint Learning-based Optimal Power Dispatch for Active Distribution Networks with Extremely Imbalanced Data

Transition towards carbon-neutral power systems has necessitated optimization of power dispatch in active distribution networks(ADNs)to facilitate integration of distributed renewable generation.Due to unavailability of network topology and line impedance in many distribution networks,physical model-based methods may not be applicable to their operations.To tackle this challenge,some studies have proposed constraint learning,which replicates physical models by training a neural network to evaluate feasibility of a decision(i.e.,whether a decision satisfies all critical constraints or not).To ensure accuracy of this trained neural network,training set should contain sufficient feasible and infeasible samples.However,since ADNs are mostly operated in a normal status,only very few historical samples are infeasible.Thus,the historical dataset is highly imbalanced,which poses a significant obstacle to neural network training.To address this issue,we propose an enhanced constraint learning method.First,it leverages constraint learning to train a neural network as surrogate of ADN's model.Then,it introduces Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique to generate infeasible samples to mitigate imbalance of historical dataset.By incorporating historical and synthetic samples into the training set,we can significantly improve accuracy of neural network.Furthermore,we establish a trust region to constrain and thereafter enhance reliability of the solution.Simulations confirm the benefits of the proposed method in achieving desirable optimality and feasibility while maintaining low computational complexity.
