Meridional deflection of global eddy propagation derived from tandem altimetry: Mechanism and implication

A common view on meridional deflection of eddy propagation is poleward for cyclones and equatorward for anticyclones. This widely accepted polarity-sensitive pattern has been increasingly undermined given that it is systematically violated on both zonal and regional scales as recently reported. Here, we approach the problem by exploring these violations in terms of eddy effects of spatiotemporal geostrophy, thermal fading, and flow dragging, yielding the following main conclusions.(1) The polarity-dependent deflection discrepancy is a pseudo feature resulting from a biased fit to the normalized eddy tracks which are spatially asymmetric(though azimuthally symmetric) between the two signs;Instead, the primary pattern of eddy deflection appears to be geographically correlated and polarity independent.(2) geostrophic adjustment plays a critical role in defining the meridional movement of an eddy. Specifically, a consistent poleward(equatorward) trajectory bending of spatially(temporally) ageostrophic eddies is observed irrespective of their polarity.(3) The mechanism of eddy deflection is also determined by its zonal propagation direction. Westward propagating eddies are substantially affected by thermal fading, while opposite ones by flow dragging. A realistic and comprehensive understanding of eddy deflection mechanisms serves as a significant contribution to the prediction of eddy trajectory, and the protection of ocean environment.

Constraint Learning-based Optimal Power Dispatch for Active Distribution Networks with Extremely Imbalanced Data

Transition towards carbon-neutral power systems has necessitated optimization of power dispatch in active distribution networks(ADNs)to facilitate integration of distributed renewable *** to unavailability of network topology and line impedance in many distribution networks,physical model-based methods may not be applicable to their *** tackle this challenge,some studies have proposed constraint learning,which replicates physical models by training a neural network to evaluate feasibility of a decision(i.e.,whether a decision satisfies all critical constraints or not).To ensure accuracy of this trained neural network,training set should contain sufficient feasible and infeasible ***,since ADNs are mostly operated in a normal status,only very few historical samples are ***,the historical dataset is highly imbalanced,which poses a significant obstacle to neural network *** address this issue,we propose an enhanced constraint learning ***,it leverages constraint learning to train a neural network as surrogate of ADN's ***,it introduces Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique to generate infeasible samples to mitigate imbalance of historical *** incorporating historical and synthetic samples into the training set,we can significantly improve accuracy of neural ***,we establish a trust region to constrain and thereafter enhance reliability of the *** confirm the benefits of the proposed method in achieving desirable optimality and feasibility while maintaining low computational complexity.

In this paper,we study the semilinear subelliptic equation{−△Xu=f(x,u)+g(x,u)inΩ,u=0 on∂Ω,where△X=−∑m i=1 Xi∗Xi is the self-adjoint Hormander operator associated with the vector fields X=(X_(1),X_(2),...,X_(m))satisfying the Hormander's condition,f(x,u)∈C(Ω×R),g(x,u)is a Carathéodory function onΩ×R,andΩis an open bounded domain in R~n with smooth *** the perturbation from the symmetry method with the approaches involving the eigenvalue estimate and the Morse index in estimating the minimax values,we obtain two kinds of existence results for multiple weak solutions to the problem ***,we discuss the difference between the eigenvalue estimate approach and the Morse index approach in degenerate *** with the classical elliptic cases,both approaches here have their own strengths in the degenerate *** new phenomenon implies that the results in general degenerate cases would be quite different from the situations in classical elliptic cases.

Paradigm for Determining the Optimal Ultradeep and Superthick Saline Aquifer for High-TDS Mine Water geological Storage

Saline aquifers are the most popular waste and CO_(2)injection and storage reservoirs *** project proposes that several optimal injection positions should be investigated as hydraulic pressure-focused positions,in order to relieve the high demands of pump *** comprehensive indices(F_(i))representing the injectivity of different burial depths were obtained by using information entropy,based on the mercury injection experimental data of 13 rock *** results demonstrated that the burial depths of No.4,No.1 and No.2 in the Liujiagou Formation were the most suitable positions for hydraulic focused injection,which means the upper 30 m thickness could be regarded as the hydraulic focused range in the saline aquifer with an average thickness of 400 *** addition,some laboratory experiments and in situ tests were carried out for the purpose of certifying and analyzing results,including SEM,XRD,brittleness index and *** results suggested that the rock samples at the No.4,No.1 and No.2 burial depth ranges have loose microstructure,weak cementation,as well as dual pores and *** lithology is mainly quartz and feldspar,but the clay mineral content is high(10%-25%),which is positive for *** lithology is suitable for hydraulic fracturing to form extended cracks and micro-fissures during high-TDS(total dissolved solids)mine water injection,because of the high brittleness ***,a theoretical and technical framework for high-TDS mine water injection was established,based on operating pilot *** theoretical defects and drawbacks learned from the field practices were summarized and solutions *** research in this study could provide guidance and a paradigm for the inexpensive treatment of high-TDS mine water by injection and storage.

The occurrence characteristics of shale oil are of great significance to the movability of shale *** this study,the occurrence characteristics of oil in the shale matrix at Funing Formation shale in Subei Basin were quantitatively evaluated by organic geochemistry and microscopic pore structure characterization *** Multiple Isothermal Stages Pyrolysis(MIS)experiment results show that the content of total oil,adsorbed oil,and free oil in the shales are 3.15-11.25 mg/g,1.41-4.95 mg/g,and 1.74-6.51 mg/g,*** which the silicon-rich shale has the best *** relative content of free oil shows an increasing trend in pores with pore diameters greater than 3 *** the relative content of free oil reaches 100%,the pore size of silicon-rich shale is about 200 nm,while that of calcium-rich shale,clay-rich shale,and siliceous mixed shale is about 10 *** occurrence law of adsorbed oil is opposite to that of free oil,which indicates that shale oil will occur in the pores and fractures in a free state in a more extensive pore size range(>200 nm).This study also enables us to further understand the occurrence characteristics of shale oil under the interaction of occurrence state and occurrence space.

Objective: Patients with radioactive iodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer(RAIR-DTC) are often diagnosed with delay and constrained to limited treatment options. The correlation between RAI refractoriness and the underlying genetic characteristics has not been extensively ***: Adult patients with distant metastatic DTC were enrolled and assigned to undergo next-generation sequencing of a customized 26-gene panel(Thyro Lead). Patients were classified into RAIR-DTC or non-RAIR groups to determine the differences in clinicopathological and molecular characteristics. Molecular risk stratification(MRS) was constructed based on the association between molecular alterations identified and RAI refractoriness, and the results were classified as high, intermediate or low ***: A total of 220 patients with distant metastases were included, 63.2% of whom were identified as RAIRDTC. genetic alterations were identified in 90% of all the patients, with BRAF(59.7% vs. 17.3%), TERT promoter(43.9% vs. 7.4%), and TP53 mutations(11.5% vs. 3.7%) being more prevalent in the RAIR-DTC group than in the non-RAIR group, except for RET fusions(15.8% vs. 39.5%), which had the opposite pattern. BRAF and TERT promoter are independent predictors of RAIR-DTC, accounting for 67.6% of patients with RAIR-DTC. MRS was strongly associated with RAI refractoriness(P<0.001), with an odds ratio(OR) of high to low MRS of 7.52 [95%confidence interval(95% CI), 3.96-14.28;P<0.001] and an OR of intermediate to low MRS of 3.20(95% CI,1.01-10.14;P=0.041).Conclusions: Molecular alterations were associated with RAI refractoriness, with BRAF and TERT promoter mutations being the predominant contributors, followed by TP53 and DICER1 mutations. MRS might serve as a valuable tool for both prognosticating clinical outcomes and directing precision-based therapeutic interventions.

The transfer of graphene from metallic substrates onto application-specific substrates is usually inevitable for the applications of high-quality graphene films derived from chemical vapour deposition(CVD)*** used to support the graphene films during the transfer,the coating of the polymer would produce the surface contaminations and hinder the industrially compatible *** this work,through the thermal imidization of polyamide acid(PAA)to polyimide(PI)and tuning of the concentration of dangling chains,we achieved the ultraclean and crack-free transfer of graphene wafers with high electronic *** resulting contamination-free and hydrophilic surface also enabled the observed improved cell viability in a biomedical *** avoiding aqueous etching or the usage of strong bases,our proposed transfer method is industrially compatible for batch transfer of graphene films towards the real applications.

皮胶、蛋类和奶类作为彩绘文物中常见的胶结材料,在我国古代存在混合使用的工艺。为探究这类混合胶料体系内部各组分的相互作用与其在光热老化条件下的稳定性,深入了解彩绘文物的劣化机理,使用扫描电子显微镜、傅里叶红外光谱仪以及热重-差示扫描量热仪等分析方法,对鸡蛋-皮胶、牛奶-皮胶与牛奶-鸡蛋三种混合胶料的稳定性与蛋白质二级结构进行了表征。结果表明,以上胶料经过混合后,热稳定性与光稳定性相较单一胶料均显著升高。红外光谱显示,样品经过老化之后谱峰加宽,波数范围位于1600~1700 cm^(-1)之间的蛋白质特征谱带酰胺Ⅰ带向低波数方向移动。酰胺Ⅰ带高斯拟合结果显示,随着混合比例的变化,混合胶料中有序结构的含量呈现出先升后降的趋势,在有序结构含量最高的样品中,无规卷曲结构含量也达到较低的水平。同时,鸡蛋-皮胶的混合比例介于1∶1~1∶2之间时,有序结构的含量高于任意单一胶料,最高可达64.87%,其稳定性最强。经过老化的胶料蛋白质二级结构含量均发生变化,有序的α-螺旋结构整体呈现下降趋势,无规卷曲结构则明显上升,而几种混合胶料α-螺旋结构的含量依旧高于单一胶料,可见混合胶料具有更强的稳定性。热重分析结果同样表明,老化前后混合胶料的热稳定性均高于单一胶料,推测是因为混合体系中蛋白质与蛋类、奶类中的脂质相结合,蛋白质与脂质的相互作用进一步促进了蛋白质结构稳定性的提升。本研究从稳定性的角度分析了彩绘文物中的混合胶料,为研究古代胶料的老化机理和保护方法提供了参考。
