BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United ***,1 in 3 adults aged 50 years to 75 years have not been screened for *** detection and management of precancerous or malignant lesions has been shown to improve overall *** To determine the most significant facilitators and barriers to CRC screening in an outpatient clinic in rural North *** results of this study can then be used for quality improvement to increase the rate of patients ages 50 to 75 who are up to date on CRC *** This retrospective study examined 2428 patients aged 50 years to 75 years in an outpatient *** were up to date on CRC screening if they had fecal occult blood test or fecal immunochemical test in the past one year,Cologuard in the past three years,flexible sigmoidoscopy/virtual colonoscopy in the past five years,or colonoscopy in the past ten *** on patient socioeconomic status,comorbid conditions,and other determinants of health compliance were included as *** Age[odds ratio(OR)=1.058;P=0.017],no-show rate percent(OR=0.962;P<0.05),patient history of obstructive sleep apnea(OR=1.875;P=0.025),compliance with flu vaccinations(OR=1.673;P<0.05),compliance with screening mammograms(OR=2.130;P<0.05),and compliance with screening pap smears(OR=2.708;P<0.05)were important factors in determining whether a patient will receive CRC ***,gender,insurance or employment status,use of blood thinners,family history of CRC,or other comorbid conditions including diabetes,hypertension,congestive heart failure,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,and end-stage renal disease were not found to have a statistically significant effect on patient adherence to CRC *** Patient age,history of sleep apnea,and compliance with other health maintenance tests were significant facilitators to CRC screening,while no-show rate percent w

Forecasting the Monthly Reported Cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) at Minna Niger State, Nigeria

There has been a moderate increase in newly diagnosed HIV-infected Minna populace, which calls for serious attention. This study used time series data based on monthly HIV cases from January 2007 to December 2018 taken from the statistical data document on HIV prevalence recorded in General Hospital Minna, Niger State. The methodology employed to analyze the data is based on mathematical models of ARMA, ARIMA and SARIMA which were computed and diagnosed. From the results of parameter estimation of the models, ARMA(2, 1) model was the best model among the other ARMA models using information criteria (AIC). Diagnostic test was run on the ARMA(2, 1) model where the results show that the model was adequate and normally distributed using Box-Lung test and Q-Q plot respectively. Furthermore, ARIMA of first and second differences was estimated and ARIMA(1, 0, 1) was the best model from the result of the AIC and diagnostic test carried out which revealed that the model was adequate and normally distributed using Box-Lung and Q-Q plot respectively. Investigating Performances of Some Statistical Tests for Heteroscedasticity Assumption in Generalized Linear Model: A Monte Carlo Simulations Study

In a linear regression model, testing for uniformity of the variance of the residuals is a significant integral part of statistical analysis. This is a crucial assumption that requires statistical confirmation via the use of some statistical tests mostly before carrying out the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) technique. Many academic researchers have published series of papers (articles) on some tests for detecting variance heterogeneity assumption in multiple linear regression models. So many comparisons on these tests have been made using various statistical techniques like biases, error rates as well as powers. Aside comparisons, modifications of some of these statistical tests for detecting variance heterogeneity have been reported in some literatures in recent years. In a multiple linear regression situation, much work has not been done on comparing some selected statistical tests for homoscedasticity assumption when linear, quadratic, square root, and exponential forms of heteroscedasticity are injected into the residuals. As a result of this fact, the present study intends to work extensively on all these areas of interest with a view to filling the gap. The paper aims at providing a comprehensive comparative analysis of asymptotic behaviour of some selected statistical tests for homoscedasticity assumption in order to hunt for the best statistical test for detecting heteroscedasticity in a multiple linear regression scenario with varying variances and levels of significance. In the literature, several tests for homoscedasticity are available but only nine: Breusch-Godfrey test, studentized Breusch-Pagan test, White’s test, Nonconstant Variance Score test, Park test, Spearman Rank, Glejser test, Goldfeld-Quandt test, Harrison-McCabe test were considered for this study;this is with a view to examining, by Monte Carlo simulations, their asymptotic behaviours. Impact of Sub-Economic on Money Supply in Nigeria: An Autoregressive Distribution Lag (ARDL) Approach

The escalation in dollar rates and the price instability in the Nigerian economy went through some significant structural and institutional changes such as the liberalization of the external trade, the elimination of price and interest rate controls, and the adoption of a managed float exchange rate system as well as the changes in monetary policy including innovations in the banking sector. Hence, the study examines the impact of financial development on money demand in Nigeria by means of ARDL approach. It examined the quarterly returns of M2, exchange rate (EXR), inflation rate (IFR), currency in credits to private sector (CPS) and circulation (CIC). The data span from 1991 to 2018. The study utilizes regression model techniques where the regression model’s residual is tested for Cointegration using Engle-Granger residual approach, the significances of the variable’s co-movement are checked by pairwise Granger Causality tests and ARDL and VECM are estimated in order to account for the short run and long run relationship among the variables. Influence of Non-Natural Ageing Temperature on the Microstructural Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of Cast Aluminum 6063 Alloy

This research considered the effect of non-natural aging on the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of as-cast aluminum 6063 alloys. The samples were developed through a sand casting process and machined into tensile and impact test samples before carrying out solution heat treatment at 550?C (0.83 Tm) on two parts of the samples while retaining one part as the control. The two parts were further divided into sets denoted A and B and were aged at 180?C (0.27 Tm) and 160?C (0.24 Tm), respectively, for 12 hours. The results showed that sample A has the optimal yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of 192 and 206 MPa, respectively. Likewise, the sample gave the highest impact strength value of about 9.63 J/mm2. The observed results were supported by the optical micrograph, which revealed that the sample has evenly dispersed precipitates in its microstructure. This is deemed responsible for the observed increase in strength of the sample.

Africa accounts for over one-third of the global burden of neglected tropical diseases(NTDs).Although continental efforts have been made to combat these diseases,there still exists a significant gap in the fight,ranging from a lack of data to multisectoral participation and,most critically,health ***,we assess the effort made to combat challenges caused by health disparities to prevent and control neglected tropical *** article engages a health equity view to addressing the need for inclusion in achieving universal health coverage towards eradicating NTDs and outlines strategies to achieve *** disparities exist,and there is substantial and irrefutable evidence for *** distribution and limited access to basic and essential life resources such as water,housing,toilets,soap,and literacy continue to facilitate the existence of NTDs such as Schistosomiasis,soil-transmitted helminths,and trachoma,the occurrence of which can be avoided if affected populations have better access to those *** eradicate NTDs,health disparities must be addressed to provide excellent health care to all populations and adequate universal health coverage for long-term *** programmes need to be data-driven to ensure better decision-making and ensure the inclusion of diverse population groups including women,children,and *** will ensure that no one is left behind,drawing upon the sustainable development *** participation and engagement should also be considered as an essential approach to ensure people are at the centre of health programmes and their implementation.

Time Series Analysis on Reported Cases of Tuberculosis in Minna Niger State Nigeria

Predicting the trend of non-seasonal data is a difficult task in Social Science. In this research work, we used time series analysis of 144 observations on monthly basis for record of reported cases of tuberculosis patients in Minna General Hospital, Niger State from the period of 2007-2018. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA: Time Plot and Descriptive Statistics), Stationarity Test (ADF), Trend estimation (Tt), Normality Test, and Forecast evaluation were carried out. The Augmented Dickey Fuller test for stationarity was conducted and the result revealed that the series are not stationary but became stationary after first difference. The correlogram established that the ARIMA (2, 1, 3) was the best model this was further confirmed from the result of L-jung Box. Prevalence of Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency among Steady-State Sickle Cell Disease Children at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin

Background: Both glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency and sickle cell disease (SCD) are prevalent in malaria-endemic regions. Controversy however persists as to whether G6PD deficiency is commoner in SCD subjects compared with the general population. Co-existence of the enzyme-deficient state with a chronic haemolytic disorder, like SCD, could potentially predispose to fatal haemolytic episodes. There is however a dearth of paediatric studies on this subject. Aims and Objectives: To determine the prevalence and demographic determinants of G6PD deficiency in children with SCD. Methods: Red cell G6PD activity was determined in 115 steady-state sickle cell disease children aged 0.5 - 17 years, in steady state and equal number of age & gender-matched non-SCD controls using the quantitative method. A measured G6PD activity of U/gHb defined G6PD deficiency while values ≥6.97 U/gHb were regarded as normal. Data were analysed using SPSS version 20. Statistical analyses done include chi-square, student t-test and ANOVA. For all statistical analyses, p values less than 0.05 were considered significant. Results: There were 64 (55.7%) males and 51 (44.3%) females in each of the arms of the study. The mean age of the study population was 8.4 ± 4.7 years. Seven of the subjects were G6PD-deficient giving a prevalence of 6.1% which was not significantly different from the 7.0% obtained in the controls (p = 0.789). G6PD deficiency was more frequently encountered in the older age groups although the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.438). Similarly, mean G6PD activity was highest in the under-5 age-group compared to the older age-groups analysed (p = 0.573). The condition was also commoner in the males than females although the difference did not attain statistical significance (p = 0.897). Conclusions: The prevalence of G6PD deficiency among SCD children was 6.1%. The condition is marginally commoner in males and older children.
