Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(terephthalic acid-2,5-furandicarboxylic acid-1,8-octanediol) Copolyester

Terephthalic acid,2,5-furandicarboxylic acid and 1,8-octanediol were adopted as monomers and antimony trioxide as catalyst,and poly(terephthalic acid-2,5-furandicarboxylic acid-1,8-octanediol) copolyesters identified as PEOT-x,where x is the mole fraction of furandicarboxylic acid in the samples,were synthesized by direct *** molecular structure of the copolyesters was characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR *** permeation chromatography (GPC),differential scanning calorimetry (DSC),and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to characterize the molecular weight,molar mass dispersity,glass transition temperature,and thermal stability of the copolyesters,*** mechanical properties of the samples were also *** number-average molecular weight (M_(n)) of the samples varies from 9 700-18 800 g/mol,and molar mass dispersity (■=M_(w)/M_(n)) from *** initial decomposition temperature of the copolyesters is in the 332-356 ℃ range,with maximum decomposition rates at 390-410 ℃,while the glass transition temperature (Tg) varies from 0-33 ℃.Mechanical test shows that PEOT-10 has the highest tensile strength,while PEOT-90 has the largest tensile modulus and elongation at *** experimental results show that these copolyesters can be synthesized with relatively high molecular weights,good thermal stability,and fair mechanical properties,which mak.s them excellent replacements for commercial polyesters,such as PET,and these properties can be tuned through the relative amounts of biomass monomer 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid used in the reactions.

Generating Net Forces from Back.rounds of Randomly Created Waves

We examine the possibility of generating net forces on concave isolated objects from back.rounds consisting of randomly created waves carrying momentum. This issue is examined first for waves at the surface of a liquid, and second for quantum vacuum electromagnetic waves, both in relation with a one-side-open rectangular structure whose interior embodies a large number of parallel reflecting plates. Using k.own results about the Casimir-lik. effect and the original Casimir effect for parallel plates, we explain why and how such rectangular hollow structures should feel net oriented forces. We briefly describe real systems that would allow testing these theoretical results.

Polymerization of Butyl Methacrylate Catalyzed by Salicylaldehyde-Imine Zirconium/Al(i-Bu)_3 System

A new k.nd of zirconium（Zr） complex containing ligand of salicylaldehyde-imine was successfully synthesized with ZrCl_4·2 THF and salicylaldehyde-imine as raw materials. The ligand was characterized by means of ~1HNMR, IR, and GC-MS, and Zr complex was characterized by means of ~1HNMR and IR, respectively. The Zr complex, combined with co-catalyst of Al（i-Bu）_3, was explored to be effective catalytic system for the polymerization of butyl methacrylate（BMA）, to prepare poly-n-butyl methacrylate（PBMA）, which was characterized by IR, ~13C-NMR and GPC. Compared with other double-component（MAO/Cat, AlEt_3/Cat） catalytic systems, catalytic system of Al（i-Bu）_3 and the Zr complex provided the best catalytic activity under the same conditions. The influence of polymerization parameters, such as molar ratio of Al（i-Bu）_3/Cat and BMA/Cat, polymerization temperature and polymerization time, was studied with Zr complex/Al（i-Bu）_3 system. With increasing polymerization time from 4 to 24 hour, the monomer conversion increased from 40.14% to 96.56%. Viscosity-average molecular weight（M_v） of PBMA, detected by the viscosity methodology, increased from 12.67×10~4Da to 44.97×10~4Da and lower molecular weight distribution was obtained. According to these results, the Zr complex contained ligand of salicylaldehyde-imine was a k.nd of readily, long lifetime and high activity catalyst for BMA polymerization.

Fracture of Limbs Bones in a Rural and Post Conflict Health Zone

Back.round: Trauma is major public health problem in developing countries where they are associated with many factors, mainly such as lack.of road safety, poverty and inadequate urban planning. We aim to highlight the epidemiology of the fractures limbs bones in a rural area where people live in a context of low economy, low education and insecurity. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, retrospective study involving all patients admitted for fracture in the surgical department of FOMULAC-k.TANA General Reference Hospital from 1st January 2011 to 31st December 2014. The patients whose medical records were not completed were excluded. Results: Among 136 patients included in our study, 140 bones limbs were registered. Most of them (60.1%) were aged between 15 - 44 years and the average age is 30, 1 year. Male predominance is noticed (72.8%) with a male/female ratio of 2.7/1, and informal professionals are the most found in our patients (67.6%). The main circumstances of fracture occurrence are, respectively, road traffic accidents (57.4%), falls (22.3%) and firearms (10.3%). The leg bones (33.6%) and forearm bones (20%) are the most concerned bones. Open fractures are recorded in 40.7% of patients. The supporting treatment is mainly orthopedic (64.5%) but also surgical (35.5). The mortality rate is 3.6%. Conclusion: The fractures of the limbs bones in k.tana General Reference Hospital mainly affect young male which is informal professional. The road traffic accidents are the first circumstance leading to fractures followed by falls. The leg bones are the most fractured body part and fractures are commonly opened.

Discretization and Interaction of Fields via the Classical k.luza-k.ein Theory

We show how the metric of a five-dimensional hyperspace-time can be used to model the quantum nature of electromagnetic interactions. The space-time neighborhood of the point where such an interaction tak.s place bends according to the curl and the derivative of the local electromagnetic four-potential, both calculated in the direction of the latter. In this geometric setting, the presence of a non-gravitational field is needed to induce the discretization of any gravitational field. We also exploit two variants of the classical k.luza-k.ein five-dimensional theory to obtain coupled generalizations of Einstein’s and Maxwell’s equations. The first variant involves an unspecified scalar field that may be related to the inflaton. The equations of the second variant show a direct interdependency of gravitation and electromagnetism that would emerge or be activated through the production of electromagnetic waves.

Aims Habitat fragmentation impacts the spatial extent and isolation of local populations and *** the biological consequences of these impacts have been well studied at the site level,effects directly related to changes in the spatial configuration of populations in the landscape remain less *** objective of this study is to examine how changes in the spatial-scale configuration of populations are associated with variability in morph rations in the floral polymorphic Mediterranean geophyte Narcissus *** We performed a nested analysis of morph ratio variation at three spatial scales:a 50×50 k. regional scale in SE France,in fourteen 1×1 k. landscapes located in the same region,and within 12 spatially extensive population *** also quantified variation in the behaviour of pollinators in population patches of contrasting spatial *** FindingsAt a regional scale,morph ratios show a geographic pattern of increasing isoplethy(1:1 morph ratio)away from centres of human population development and in upland *** the landscape scale,isoplethy of local population patches is more correlated with decreased isolation among patches than with patch ***,within local isoplethic populations,small patches can show significantly biased morph *** small isolated patches,pollinators perform shorter flight distances among consecutive flower visits than in spatially extensive *** study of variation in a genetic polymorphism at multiple spatial scales provides new insights into the scale-dependent effects of habitat fragmentation and the potential occurrence of metapopulation dynamics in natural plant populations.
