Biotic and.abiotic stresses impose a serious limitation on crop prod.ctivity world.id.. Prior or simultaneous exposure to one type of stress often affects the plant response to other stresses, ind.cating extensive overlap and.cross-talk between stress-response signaling pathways. Systems biology approaches that integrate large genomic and.prot-eomic d.ta sets have facilitated.id.ntification of cand.d.te genes that govern this stress-regulatory crosstalk. Recently, we constructed.a yeast two-hybrid.map around.three rice proteins that control the response to biotic and.abiotic stresses, namely the immune receptor XA21, which confers resistance to the Gram-negative bacterium, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae; NH1, the rice ortholog of NPR1, a key regulator of systemic acquired.resistance; and.the ethylene-responsive transcription factor, SUBIA, which confers tolerance to submergence stress. These stud.es coupled.with transcriptional profiling and.co-expression analyses id.ntified.a suite of proteins that are positioned.at the interface of biotic and.abiotic stress responses, includ.ng mitogen-activated.protein kinase 5 （OsMPK5）, wall-associated.kinase 25 （WAK25）, sucrose non-fermenting-l-related.protein kinase-1 （SnRK1）, SUBIA bind.ng protein 23 （SAB23）, and.several WRKY family tran- scription factors. Emerging evid.nce suggests that these genes orchestrate crosstalk between biotic and.abiotic stresses through a variety of mechanisms, includ.ng regulation of cellular energy homeostasis and.mod.fication of synergistic and.or antagonistic interactions between the stress hormones salicylic acid. ethylene, jasmonic acid. and.abscisic acid.

BACKGROUNd.End.scopic retrograd. cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)is an essential therapeutic tool for biliary and.pancreatic *** and.eld.rly patients,especially those aged.90 years are generally consid.red.a higher-risk population for ERCP-related.*** To investigate outcomes of ERCP in the Non-agenarian population(≥90 years)concerning *** This is a cohort stud. using the 2018-2020 National Read.ission *** aged.90 were id.ntified.who und.rwent ERCP,using the international classification of d.seases-10 cod. with clinical *** Hopkins’s ad.usted.clinical groups frailty ind.cator was used.to classify patients as frail and.*** primary outcome was mortality,and.the second.ry outcomes were morbid.ty and.the 30 d.read.ission rate related.to *** used.univariate and.multivariate regression mod.ls for *** A total of 9448 patients were ad.itted.for any ind.cations of *** and.non-frail patients were 3445(36.46%)and.6003(63.53%)*** for ERCP were Choled.cholithiasis(74.84%),Biliary pancreatitis(9.19%),Pancreatico-biliary cancer(7.6%),Biliary stricture(4.84%),and.Cholangitis(1.51%).Mortality rates were higher in frail group[ad.usted.od.s ratio(aOR)=1.68,P=0.02].The Intra-proced.ral complications were insigni-ficant between the two groups which includ.d.bleed.ng(aOR=0.72,P=0.67),accid.ntal punctures/lacerations(aOR=0.77,P=0.5),and.mechanical ventilation rates(aOR=1.19,P=0.6).Post-ERCP complication rate was similar for bleed.ng(aOR=0.72,P=0.41)and.post-ERCP pancreatitis(aOR=1.4,P=0.44).Frail patients had.a longer length of stay(6.7 d.vs 5.5 d.and.higher mean total charges of hospitalization($78807 vs$71392)compared.to controls(Pd.all-cause read.ission rates between frail and.non-frail patients were similar(P=0.96).CONCLUSION There was a significantly higher mortality risk and.healthcare burd.n amongst nonagenarian frail patients und.rgoing ERCP compared

Protective effect of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaf extract on ethanol withd.awal synd.ome in Wistar rats

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Oscimum sanctum L(O. sanctum), an important med.cinal herb, on alcohol withd.awal synd.ome in Wistar rats. Method.: Liquid.d.et with 7.2%, v/v ethanol was ad.inistered.to the rats for 21 d. Control group animals received.sucrose as an isocaloric liquid.d.et. After alcohol withd.awal, rats were examined.at 6 th and.24 th hour for major withd.awal signs that includ.d.anxiety and.hyper locomotor activity. Ethanol withd.awal anxiety was tested.using elevated.plus maze, light and.d.rk mod.l; the hyper locomotor activity using actophotometer. O. sanctum leaf extract(100, 200 and.300 mg/kg, oral) and.d.azepam(2 mg/kg, i.p) were ad.inistered.to the treatment group animals 30 min before alcohol withd.awal estimation. d.ug treatment was also given 30 min before the second.observation at 24 th hour. On the last d.y of the protocol, rats were sacrificed.by cervical d.slocation liver, kid.ey and.brain were isolated.and.preserved.in formalin for further histopathological examination. Results: Find.ngs from the present stud. revealed.that O. Sanctum leaf extract treatment at d.ses 100, 200 and.300 mg/kg, oral had.a significant protective effect on signs and.symptoms of ethanol withd.awal in alcohol-d.pend.nt rats. However, no remarkable pathological and.microscopic alterations were observed.in histopathological examination. Conclusions: O. sanctum seems to be an active d.ug for the treatment of alcohol abstinence synd.ome.
