This works presents the first fully validated and predictive capability to model the v_0-v_(100) probabilistic penetration response of a woven fabric using a yarn-level fabric finite element model. The v_0-v_(100) curve describes the probability of complete fabric penetration as a function of projectile impact velocity. The exemplar case considered in this paper comprises of a single-layer, fully-clamped, plain-weave Kevlar fabric impacted at the center by a 17-gr, 0.22 cal FSP or fragment-simulating projectile. Each warp and fill yarn in the fabric is individually modeled using 3 D finite elements and the virtual fabric microstructure is validated in detail against the experimental fabric microstructure. Material and testing sources of statistical variability including yarn strength and modulus, inter-yarn friction, precise projectile impact location, and projectile rotation are mapped into the finite element model. A series of impact simulations at varying projectile impact velocities is executed using LS-DYNA on the fabric models, with each model comprising unique mappings. The impact velocities together with the outcomes(penetration, nonpenetration) are used to generate the numerical v_0-v_(100) curve which is then validated against the experimental v_0-v_(100) curve. The numerical vi-vrdata(impact, residual velocities) is also validated against the experimental vi-vrdata. For completeness, this paper also reports the experimental characterization data and its statistical analysis used for model input, viz. the Kevlar yarn tensile strengths, moduli, and inter-yarn friction, and the experimental ballistic test data used for model validation.

In order to conduct electrical studies on organic thin film transistors, top-contact devices are fabricated by growing polycrystalline films of freshly synthesized pentacene over Si/SiO2 substrates with two different channel widths under identical conditions. Reasonable field effect mobilities in order of 10^-2-10^-3 cm^2v^-1s^-1 are obtained in these devices. An elaborative electrical characterization of all the devices is undertaken to study the variance in output saturation current, field effect mobility, and leakage current with aging under ambient conditions. As compared to the devices with longer channel width, the devices with shorter channel width exhibit better electrical performance initially. However, the former devices sustain the moderate performance much longer than the latter ones.

A new procedure known as mid-colon esophagocoloplasty for corrosive esophageal strictures is described. This has been used in 112 consecutive patients over thirty years from 1977 to 2010 with excellent results. The conduit is a modification of the left colon conduit. It is based primarily on the left colic pedicle and includes the entire transverse colon with both flexures. It has several advantages over conventional methods of esophageal bypass for corrosive strictures. The major advantages of this procedure are excellent vascularity of the conduit, adequate length giving scope for operative decision making on the length required for the conduit, the possibility of a wide cervical esophago-colic anastomosis, negligible necrosisand stricture rates and excellent long-term functional results. The procedure, its differences and merits compared to conventional colonic conduits for esophageal replacement are described in detail.

Esophageal cancer is an aggressive malignancy associated with dismal treatment outcomes. Presence of two distinct histopathological types distinguishes it from other gastrointestinal tract malignancies. Surgery is the cornerstone of treatment in locally advanced esophageal cancer(T2 or greater or node positive); however, a high rate of disease recurrence(systemic and loco-regional) and poor survival justifies a continued search for optimal therapy. various combinations of multimodality treatment(preoperative/perioperative, or postoperative; radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or chemoradiotherapy) are being explored to lower disease recurrence and improve survival. Preoperative therapy followed by surgery is presently considered the standard of care in resectable locally advanced esophageal cancer as postoperative treatment may not be feasible for all the patients due to the morbidity of esophagectomy and prolonged recovery time limiting the tolerance of patient. There are wide variations in the preoperative therapy practiced across the centres depending upon the institutional practices, availability of facilities and personal experiences. There is paucity of literature to standardize the preoperative therapy. Broadly, chemoradiotherapy is the preferred neo-adjuvant modality in western countries whereas chemotherapy alone is considered optimal in the far East. The present review highlights the significant studies to assist in opting for the best evidence based preoperative therapy(radiotherapy, chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy) for locally advanced esophageal cancer.

Occurrence of faults in Network on Chip(NoC) is inevitable as the feature size is con-tinuously decreasing and processing elements are increasing in *** can be revocable if it is *** fault may occur inside router,or in the core or in communication *** of transient faults are overflow of buffers in router,clock skew,cross talk,etc..Revocation of transient faults can be done by retransmission of faulty packets using oblivious or adaptive routing *** faults causes non-functionality of segment and mainly occurs during fabrication *** reliability increases with the efficient routing algorithms,which can handle the maximum faults without deadlock in *** transient faults are temporary and can be easily revoked using re-transmission of packet,permanent faults require efficient routing to route the packet by bypassing the nonfunctional ***,our focus is on the analysis of adaptive minimal path fault tolerant routing to handle the permanent *** analysis between partial adaptive fault tolerance routing West-First,North-Last,Negative-First,Odd Even,and Minimal path Fault Tolerant routing(MinFT) algorithms with the nodes and links failure is performed using NoC Interconnect RoutinG and Application Modeling simulator(NIRGAM) for the 2D Mesh *** suggests that MinFT ensures data transmission under worst conditions as compared to other adaptive routing algorithms.
