Model-based framework for multi-axial real-time hybrid simulation testing

Real-time hybrid simulation is an efficient and cost-effective dynamic testing technique for performance evaluation of structural systems subjected to earthquake loading with rate-dependent behavior. A loading assembly with multiple actuators is required to impose realistic boundary conditions on physical specimens. However, such a testing system is expected to exhibit significant dynamic coupling of the actuators and suffer from time lags that are associated with the dynamics of the servo-hydraulic system, as well as control-structure interaction （CSI）. One approach to reducing experimental errors considers a multi-input, multi-output （MIMO） controller design, yielding accurate reference tracking and noise rejection. In this paper, a framework for multi-axial real-time hybrid simulation （maRTHS） testing is presented. The methodology employs a real-time feedback-feedforward controller for multiple actuators commanded in Cartesian coordinates. Kinematic transformations between actuator space and Cartesian space are derived for all six-degrees-of- freedom of the moving platform. Then, a frequency domain identification technique is used to develop an accurate MIMO transfer function of the system. Further, a Cartesian-domain model-based feedforward-feedback controller is implemented for time lag compensation and to increase the robustness of the reference tracking for given model uncertainty. The framework is implemented using the 1/5th-scale Load and Boundary Condition Box （LBCB） located at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed methodology, a single-story frame subjected to earthquake loading is tested. One of the columns in the fraane is represented physically in the laboratory as a cantilevered steel column. Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) are widely grown in Cameroon and play a key role in the fight against food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty. However, its cultivation encounters problems due to abiotic and biotic stresses, which leads to the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which cause significant damage to the environment and human health due to the presence of synthetics residues in the seeds, pods and in the leaves that are eaten. Promoting the use of natural products is becoming a necessity for organic and eco-responsible agriculture that limits contamination problems and improves people’s purchasing power. This study aims to assess the effect of biostimulants based on natural products on the growth and nutritional value of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Bean seedlings from white variety (MEX-142) and red variety (DOR-701) were treated every seven days in the field from their pre-emergence, emergence and growth to their maturation under a randomized block experimental design. Six treatments and three repetitions with the biostimulants based on natural products and controls were thus performed and the agromorphological parameters were measured. After 120 days, the contents of growth biomarkers and defense-related enzymes were evaluated in leaves, while the contents of macromolecules, minerals and antinutrients were evaluated in seeds. These biostimulants significantly increased (P P < 0.0001) of antinutrients including oxalates, phytates, tannins and saponins in seeds compared to controls (T+ and T−). Treatment with biostimulants, in particular BS4, improves the performance of bean plants in the field as well as the biofortification of seeds regardless of the variety.

The objective of this article is to show the influence of mobile phone use while driving on the performance of petroleum product drivers in *** topical questioning centred on the series of accidents and near misses in general and specifically in the petroleum products sector and showed the need to look for other *** do so,we conceptually proposed a model derived from the literature review and adjusted by practical research,which shows that our approach is the hypothetico-deductive ***,the observations from the experience of 90 questionnaires were operationalized using multivariate logistic regression *** results indicate that making or receiving calls while driving significantly influences the occurrence of reckless driving *** and sending short message service(SMS or text messages)while driving negatively influences drivers’performance by increasing delivery *** type of phone used has an effect on the risk of accidents or near ***,drivers who use smartphones are 2.14 times more likely to experience crash-like events compared to those who use conventional mobile *** addition,with a view to reducing near misses and accidents,it is important to organize regular appropriate road safety campaigns,to install on-board cameras in all trucks,to provide rest areas and encourage drivers to stop at these areas to check their phones and catch up on missed *** to introduce training for drivers in defensive driving with a renewable licence after a maximum of 2 years.

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)are persistent organic pollutants of concern be-cause of their ubiquitous presence in surface and ground water;analytical methods that can be used for rapid comprehensive exposure assessment and fingerprinting of PFAS are *** the fires at the Intercontinental Terminals Company(ITC)in Deer Park,TX in 2019,large quantities of PFAS-containing firefighting foams were *** release of these substances into the Houston Ship Channel/Galveston Bay(HSC/GB)prompted con-cerns over the extent and level of PFAS contamination.A targeted liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)-based study of temporal and spatial patterns of PFAS associated with this incident revealed presence of 7 species;their levels gradually de-creased over a 6-month *** the targeted LC-MS/MS analysis was focused on about 30 PFAS molecules,it may have missed other PFAS compounds present in firefighting ***,we utilized untargeted LC-ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrome-try(LC-IMS-MS)-based analytical approach for a more comprehensive characterization of PFAS in these water *** analyzed 31 samples from 9 sites in the HSC/GB that were collected over 5 months after the *** data showed that additional 19 PFAS were detected in surface water of HSC/GB,most of them decreased gradually after the *** features detected by LC-MS/MS correlated well in abundance with LC-IMS-MS data;however,LC-IMS-MS identified a number of additional PFAS,many known to be compo-nents of firefighting *** findings therefore illustrate that untargeted LC-IMS-MS improved our understanding of PFAS presence in complex environmental samples.

Reversal of the diabetic bone signature with anabolic therapies in mice

The mechanisms underlying the bone disease induced by diabetes are complex and not fully understood;and antiresorptive agents,the current standard of care,do not restore the weakened bone ***,we reveal the diabetic bone signature in mice at the tissue,cell,and transcriptome levels and demonstrate that three FDA-approved bone-anabolic agents correct *** decreased bone mineral density(BMD)and bone formation,damaged microarchitecture,increased porosity of cortical bone,and compromised bone ***(PTH),abaloparatide(ABL),and romosozumab/anti-sclerostin antibody(Scl-Ab)all restored BMD and corrected the deteriorated bone ***,PTH and more potently ABL induced similar responses at the tissue and gene signature levels,increasing both formation and resorption with positive balance towards bone *** contrast,Scl-Ab increased formation but decreased *** agents restored bone architecture,corrected cortical porosity,and improved mechanical properties of diabetic bone;and ABL and Scl-Ab increased toughness,a fracture resistance ***,all agents increased bone strength over the healthy controls even in the presence of severe *** findings demonstrate the therapeutic value of bone anabolic agents to treat diabetes-induced bone disease and suggest the need for revisiting the approaches for the treatment of bone fragility in diabetes.

Endometriosis is a common disease in premenopausal women involving pelvic organs specially. Howeverendometriosis that affects the appendix is rarely seen except appendiceal endometriosis that mimics acute appendicitis. In a patient with acute appendicitis we diagnosed and operated on, histopathological examination of the appendix revealed appendiceal endometriosis which caused symptoms.

地球内部转换带与核幔边界的水对地球的分层、元素循环以及地核组成等方面都有十分重要的影响.如果水是在地球表面与内部圈层间循环的话,那么理论上在下地幔也应该有水的通道,而且该水通道的地震地磁学特征应有别于其周围的下地幔环境.在本次工作中,利用动静高压结合的方法(二级轻气炮+金刚石压腔)并综合理论计算系统研究了ε-FeOOH在下地幔温压范围内的波速与电导率剖面及其内部机制.我们发现,在50 GPa左右由于铁的电子自旋相变的影响,ε-FeOOH的电导率有3个数量级的急剧升高而其纵波波速会突然下降16.8%左右.结合全球地震地磁学数据分析,ε-FeOOH在这个压力范围的高导低波现象恰好与全球范围内在1200 km深度左右的某些高导低波的冷俯冲带区域相吻合.含水ε-FeOOH或者其他含铁相可能具有的这些独特性质或许可以作为水在中下地幔通过的证据.

Relationship between antibacterial activity of chitosan and surface characteristics of cell wall

AIM: Five representative waterborne pathogens were used to illustrate the relationship between chitosan’s antibac- terial activity and the surface characteristics of the bacterial cell wall. METHODS: Chitosan was prepared with averaged 75 % or 95 % deacetylated degree to examine its antibacterial activity against waterborne pathogens. Fresh microbial inoculants for the antibacterial assessment were prepared on nutrient agar at 37oC for 24 h. The evaluation items of antibacterial mechanism included hydrophilicity and negative charge analysis of cell surface, and adsorptive characteristics of chitosan to bacterial cell. All the experiments were applied in triplicate tests at least. RESULTS: Although cell wall hydrophilicity was similar among Gram-negative bacteria, the distribution of negative charge on their cell surfaces was quite different. More negatively charged cell surfaces had a greater interaction with chitosan, a phenomenon further confirmed by transmission electron micrography (TEM). CONCLUSION: Results showed the hydrophilicity in Gram-negative bacteria was much higher than in Gram-positive ones. The correlation coefficient 0.988 between the amount of absorbed chitosan and its inhibition efficiency indicated a close relationship.
