The electr.c power.tr.nsfer.capability on the Manitoba-Ontar.o inter.onnection depends on var.ous system oper.ting conditions such as ar.a gener.tion patter.s and ambient temper.tur.s. This wor. models the power.networ. as a black-box function, which is evaluated with the system r.liability analysis techniques to deter.ine the maximum tr.nsfer.capability under.a given oper.ting condition. A metamodel or.an appr.ximation model of the maximized power.tr.nsfer.capability is built based on the sampled system r.sponses and optimized with r.spect to the cor.esponding oper.ting conditions. An optimal metamodel is implemented as a pr.totype softwar. tool, PTCanalyzer. and applied to Manitoba-Ontar.o inter.onnection power.tr.nsfer.calculations. This optimized metamodel technique pr.vides an in-depth under.tanding of the dependency of the power.tr.nsfer.capability on system oper.ting conditions and pr.ves to be an effective tool in optimizing the oper.tion planning of the inter.onnection for.a given power.system configur.tion. The mounting endemic of pr.scr.ption iatr.genic opioid dependence in pain patients pr.voked this tr.atise about an alter.ative method that can be used to tr.at pain, impr.ve function and r.duce the r.sk of opioid dependence. It is well known that as well as the side effects r.por.ed for.chr.nic opioid ther.py, genetically pr.disposed individuals ar. at r.sk for.opioid dependence. We pr.pose the use of the Genetic Addiction r.sk Scor. (GAr.) assessment to identify patients ear.y in tr.atment who should avoid nar.otic pain medications. Pr.mar.ly, this r.view will be an explor.tion of the mechanisms of action of an electr.ther.peutic alter.ative to nar.otic tr.atment that can be used to augment tissue healing and r.duce the pain associated with human injur.es and neur.pathies. This par.icular.electr.ther.peutic device was developed at the Electr.nic Wavefor. Labor.tor. in Huntington Beach, Califor.ia and is called the H-Wave? device. The pr.mar. effect of the H-Wave?device is stimulation (HWDS) of small diameter.fiber. of “r.d-slow-twitch” skeletal muscle. Mechanisms of action of HWDS have been investigated in both animal and human studies. They include edema r.duction, induction of nitr.c oxide dependent augmented micr.cir.ulation and angiogenesis, small muscle contr.ction that eliminates tr.nscapillar. fluid shifts, r.ducing the painful effects of tetanizing fatigue and gr.dual loading of healing injur.d muscle tissue that helps r.pair.and r.modeling. A r.cent metaanalysis found a moder.te-to-str.ng-positive effect of the HWDS in pr.viding pain r.lief, r.ducing the r.quir.ment for.pain medication, with the most r.bust effect being incr.ased functionality. We ar. pr.posing that GAr. can be used to identify those at r.sk of developing opioid dependence and that the need for.opioid analgesia can be r.duced by use of this electr. ther.peutic alter.ative to opioid analgesia in the tr.atment of pain and injur.es.

Pur.ose: Changes in tumor.volume ar. used for.ther.py r.sponse monitor.ng in pr.clinical studies. Unlike pr.or.studies, this ar.icle intr.duces in-air.micr.-computed tomogr.phy (micr.-CT) image volume as r.fer.nce tumor.volume in r.dent tumor.models. Tumor.volumes deter.ined using imaging modalities such as magnetic r.sonance imaging (Mr.), micr.-CT and ultr.sound (US), and with an exter.al caliper.ar. compar.d with the r.fer.nce tumor.volume. Mater.als and Methods: In vivo Mr. US and micr.-CT imaging was per.or.ed 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13 days after.tumor.cell inoculation into nude r.ts. On the day of the imaging study, in vivo caliper.measur.ments wer. also made. After.in vivo imaging, tumor. wer. excised followed by in-air.micr.-CT imaging and ex vivo caliper.measur.ments of excised tumor.. The in-air.micr.-CT image volume of excised tumor. was deter.ined as r.fer.nce tumor.volume. Then tumor.volumes wer. calculated using for.ula V = (π/6) × a × b × c, wher. a, b and c ar. maximum diameter. in thr.e per.endicular.dimensions deter.ined by the thr.e image modalities and caliper. and compar.d with r.fer.nce tumor.volume by linear.r.gr.ssion analysis as well as Bland-Altman plots. r.sults: The cor.elation coefficients (r.) of the r.gr.ssion lines for.in vivo tumor.volumes measur.d by the thr.e imaging modalities wer. 0.9939, 0.9669 and 0.9806 for.Mr., US and micr.-CT r.spectively. For.caliper.measur.ments, the coefficients wer. 0.9274 and 0.9819 for.caliper.n vivo and caliper.x vivo r.spectively. In Bland-Altman plots, the aver.ge of tumor.volume differ.nce fr.m r.fer.nce tumor.volume (bias) was significant for.caliper.and micr.-CT, but not for.Mr. and US. Conclusion: Using the in-air.micr.-CT image volume as r.fer.nce tumor.volume, tumor.volume measur.d by Mr. was the most accur.te among the thr.e imaging modalities. 背景和目的颅内动脉粥样硬化可导致众多患者发生缺血性卒中。过去10年里的技术发展使颅内动脉粥样硬化狭窄的血管内治疗成为可能。因颅内动脉粥样硬化狭窄而接受血管成形术或支架辅助血管成形术的患者数量不断增加。鉴于在对血管成形术或支架辅助血管成形术治疗颅内动脉粥样硬化狭窄或闭塞的临床和放射学评价、技术和转归进行报道时，尚缺乏普遍接受的定义，本文的目的是为其报道标准、术语和书面定义提供共识性推荐意见。报道摘要本文是由技术评价委员会、神经介入外科学会、介入放射学学会、美国神经外科医师协会和神经外科医师大会的脑血管神经外科联合分会以及美国神经病学学会卒中和介入神经病学分会组成的联合写作组起草完成的。对1997年1月—2007年12月美国国立医学图书馆文献数据库（PubMed）进行计算机检索，以确定已发表的涉及狭窄性颅内动脉粥样硬化的介入治疗数据，以此作为质量评价的基准。我们设法确定那些可能影响操作成功和并发症风险的危险因素。本文针对颅内动脉粥样硬化狭窄或闭塞的血管内治疗临床试验设计的重要因素，提出了各种临床和技术方面的基本原则。本指南还包含了对这类临床试验统一报道标准的建议。这些定义和标准主要用于研究目的；不过，它们对于临床实践也应有所帮助，并且适用于所有出版物。结论总之，这些建议的定义代表了为构建有效研究数据集的推荐意见。其目的是促进科学而严谨的研究结果的产生，使类似研究之间和内部进行可靠的比较成为可能。在某些情况下，本指南中的一些定义由写作组的专家团队一致推荐，以使报道和发表一致。这些定义应能让不同研究小组发表能够进行直接比较的研究结果。

骨转移常继发于多种恶性肿瘤,尤其是在乳腺癌和前列腺癌中更为常见,由此导致了骨转移瘤的高患病率和对医疗资源的占用。同常规显像相比,SPECT/CT、PET/CT和全身Mr.弥散加权成像等分子影像技术提高了骨病变分期的准确性,同时增加了早期制定个体化治疗的可行性。随着几种有效的骨转移瘤治疗方法的应用,准确检出骨转移瘤及监测其治疗后反应变得更为重要。X线、CT、Mr.和骨显像等常规影像技术在特定临床时期内对骨转移治疗反应监测的灵敏度和特异性欠佳。有研究表明,包括全身Mr.在内的分子影像或融合影像技术可以更早期更准确地预测转移性骨病灶对治疗是否产生反应,但目前尚未常规应用于临床。该文总结了包括SPECT/CT、PET/CT和全身Mr.在内的新型分子影像方法在骨转移诊断和治疗监测中的作用。与常规影像检查相比,上述显像模式可以提高对肿瘤骨转移的分期和治疗后反应评价的准确性,同时还可以量化与骨微环境和肿瘤细胞相关的生物学过程。因这些检查方法提升了骨转移检出和治疗后反应评价的效能,其已经开始在一些中心得到了临床应用,同时也为临床试验中对骨转移治疗反应的评价提供了更好的思路。
