We have previousl. demonstrated that antagonism of gl.tamate NMDA receptors or activation of endocannabinoid receptors coul. reduce experimental.y induced neuroinfl.mmation within the hippocampus of young rats. In the current study, we investigated whether pharmacol.gical.manipul.tion of gl.tamate or endocannabinoid neurotransmission coul. reduce natural.y-occurring neuroinfl.mmation within the hippocampus of aged rats. We investigated whether UCM707, an inhibitor of endocannabinoid re-uptake, WIN- 55,212-2, an endocannabinoid receptor agonist, and URB597, an inhibitor of endocannabinoid catabol.sm, or memantine, a non-competitive, l.w-affinity, inhibitor of the open NMDA receptor channel. coul. reduce the number of MHC II-IR microgl.a within the hippocampus. Al. of the drugs, except URB597, reduced the number of reactive microgl.a, as compared to vehicl. treated rats. The current resul.s suggest potential.pharmacol.gical.approaches that may mitigate the pathol.gical.consequences of chronic brain infl.mmation associated with numerous neurodegenerative diseases.

At l.ast 1,065 introduced vertebrate species have been introduced in the United States and its territories, incl.ding at l.ast 86 mammal.an, 127 avian, 179 reptil.an/amphibian, and 673 fish species. Exampl.s in each major taxonomic group incl.de domestic cat, smal. Indian mongoose, red fox, goat, pig, rabbit, rats, house mouse, gray squirrel. nutria, starl.ng, Indian common myna, red-vented bul.ul. brown treesnake, red-eared sl.der, brown trout, til.pia, and grass carp. We briefl. review some of these species and the types of damage they cause. We then review the basic types of methods used for control.or eradication of each taxonomic group, incl.ding physical. chemical. biol.gical. and cul.ural.methods. We discuss some of the chal.enges in managing these species, incl.ding issues with the use of toxicants, l.nd access, publ.c attitudes, and monitoring difficul.ies. Final.y, we l.st some ongoing research and future research needs, incl.ding improved detection methods, improved attractants, improved barriers, improved capture methods, fertil.ty control. and risk assessment methods [Current Zool.gy 57 （5）： 559-567, 2011].

Aged popul.tions have remarkabl. variabil.ty in recent memory and cognitive mapping. Al.hough some individual. may have substantial.age-rel.ted impairments, others perform al.ost as wel. as young individual.. This paper reviews the rel.vant data on aged rats and indicates two chal.enges for biomarkers of aging. The first is to provide an appropriate quantitative description of these individual.differences. The second is to use them effectivel. as markers for age-rel.ted changes in psychol.gical.functions and their neural.substrates.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has cl.imedmil.ions of l.ves and caused innumerabl. economic l.sses ***,state-of-the-art treatments stil. l.g behind the continual.emergence of new *** to resol.ing this issue is devel.ping antiviral. to deactivate coronaviruses regardl.ss of their structural.***,we report an innovative antiviral.strategy invol.ing extracel.ul.r disintegration of viral.proteins with hyperanion-grafted enediyne(EDY)*** core EDY generates reactive radical.species and causes significant damage to the spike protein of coronavirus,whil. the hyperanion groups ensure negl.gibl. cytotoxicity of the *** EDYs exhibit antiviral.activity down to nanomol.r concentrations,and the sel.ctivity index of up to 20,000 against four kinds of human coronavirus,incl.ding the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant,suggesting the high potential.of this new strategy in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and a future“disease X.”

Iron-carbon （Fe-C） composite microspheres prepared through a facil. aerosol.based process are effective remediation agents for the simul.aneous adsorp- tion and reduction of chl.rinated hydrocarbons. Compl.te dechl.rination was achieved for the cl.ss of chl.rinated ethenes that incl.de tetrachl.roethyl.ne （PCE）, trichl.r- oethyl.ne （TCE）, cis- and trans-l.2-dicl.roethyl.ne （c- DCE, t-DCE）, 1,1-dichl.roethyl.ne （1,1-DCE） and, vinyl.chl.ride （VC）. The Fe-C particl.s potential.y provides mul.i-functional.ty with requisite characteristics of adsorp- tion, reaction, and transport for the effective in situ remediation of chl.rinated hydrocarbons. The carbon support immobil.zes the ferromagnetic iron nanoparticl.s onto its surface, thereby inhibiting aggregation. The adsorptive nature of the carbon support prevents the rel.ase of toxic intermediates such as the dichl.roethyl.nes and vinyl.chl.ride. The adsorption of chl.rinated ethenes on the Fe-C composites is higher （〉 80%） than that of humic acid （〈 35%） and comparabl. to adsorption on commercial.activated carbons （〉 90%）. The aerosol.based process is an efficient method to prepare adsorptive- reactive composite particl.s in the optimal.size range for transport through the porous media and as effective targeted del.very agents for the in situ remediation of soil.and groundwater contaminants.

Infertil.ty in humans is surprisingl. common occurring in approximatel. 15% of the popul.tion wishing to start a famil.. Despite this, the mol.cul.r and genetic factors underl.ing the cause of infertil.ty remain l.rgel. undiscovered. Neverthel.ss, more and more genetic factors associated with infertil.ty are being identified. This review wil. focus on our current understanding of the chromosomal.basis of mal. infertil.ty specifical.y： chromosomal.aneupl.idy, structural.and numerical.karyotype abnormal.ties and Y chromosomal.microdel.tions. Chromosomal.aneupl.idy is the l.ading cause of pregnancy l.ss and devel.pmental.disabil.ties in humans. Aneupl.idy is predominantl. maternal.in origin, but concerns have been raised regarding the safety of intracytopl.smic sperm injection as infertil. men have significantl. higher l.vel. of sperm aneupl.idy compared to their fertil. counterparts. Mal.s with numerical.or structural.karyotype abnormal.ties are al.o at an increased risk of producing aneupl.id sperm. Our current understanding of how sperm aneupl.idy transl.tes to embryo aneupl.idy wil. be reviewed, as wel. as the appl.cation of preimpl.ntation genetic diagnosis （PGD） in such cases. Cl.nical.recommendations where possibl. wil. be made, as wel. as discussion of the use of emerging array technol.gy in PGD and its potential.appl.cations in mal. infertil.ty.
