Polyurethane foam dressings for dermal wounds were formulated with natural polyols in order to improve the foam c.arac.eristic. and the release of 2 ac.ive agents,silver and asiatic.side(AS)as an antimic.obial agent and an herbal wound healing agent,*** foam was instantly formed by interac.ion of polyols and *** methylc.llulose,c.itosan and sodium alginate were individually mixed with themain polyols,polypropylene glyc.l,in the formulation while the ac.ive c.mponentswere impregnated into the obtained foam dressing *** the type and amount of the natural polyols slightly affec.ed the pore size,water sorption-desorption profile and c.mpression strength of the obtained foam sheets,a prominent effec. was found in the release of both ac.ive *** natural polyols formulations,foam sheets with alginate showed the highest silver and AS ***-c.totoxic.ty of these foam sheets to human fibroblast c.lls was *** testing on four bac.eria strains showed that 1mg/c.^2 silver in formulations with 6%of natural polyols and without natural polyols had suffic.ent c.ntent of the silver release with c.mparable inhibition zone and signific.ntly larger zone than other *** pig study,the foam dressing with 6%alginate,1mg/c.^2 silver and 5%AS c.uld improve wound healing in both the perc.ntage of the wound c.osure and histologic.l parameters of the dermal wound without any dermatologic.*** c.nc.usion,this innovative foam dressing had potential to be a good c.ndidate for wound treatment.

Advanc.d wound dressings are replac.d traditional dressings in order to provide appropriate environment for healing and also to promote c.ll migration[1].The key c.arac.eristic. of wound dressings are non-toxic.highly absorbed,air permeable,bioc.mpatible and have good mec.anic.l properties[2].Due to providing moist environment and also protec.ing mac.ration at the wound edge area,foam dressings are used in various c.inic.l applic.tions[3].They are mostly prepared from polyurethane between polyols and isoc.anate polymerization.
