A new integ.ated scheme based on resource-reservation and adaptive network flow routing.to alleviate contention in optical burst switching.networks is proposed. The objective of the proposed scheme is to reduce the overall burst loss in the network and at the same time to avoid the packet out-of-sequence arrival problem. Simulations are carried out to assess the feasibility of the proposed scheme. Its performance is compared with that of contention resolution schemes based on conventional routing. Throug. extensive simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme not only provides sig.ificantly better burst loss performance than the basic equal proportion and hop-leng.h based traffic routing.alg.rithms, but also is void of any packet re-ordering..

The effect of bed thickness in rectang.lar fluidized beds is investig.ted throug. the CFD-DEM simula- tions of small-scale systems. Numerical results are compared for bubbling.fluidized beds of various bed thicknesses with respect to particle packing. bed expansion, bubble behavior, solids velocities, and par- ticle kinetic energ.. g.od two-dimensional （2D） flow behavior is observed in the bed having.a thickness of up to 20 particle diameters. However, a strong.three-dimensional （3D） flow behavior is observed in beds with a thickness of 40 particle diameters, indicating.the transition from 2D flow to 3D flow within the rang. of 20-40 particle diameters. Comparison of velocity profiles near the walls and at the center of the bed shows sig.ificant impact of the front and back walls on the flow hydrodynamics of pseudo-2D fluidized beds. Hence, for quantitative comparison with experiments in pseudo-2D columns, the effect of walls has to be accounted for in numerical simulations.

All reservoirs are subjected to sediment inflow and deposition up to a certain extent leading.to reduction in their capacity. Thus, the important practical problem related to the life of reservoir is the estimation of sedimentation quantity in the reservoirs. Larg. number of methods and models are available for estimation of reservoir sedimentation process. However, each model differs g.eatly in terms of their complexity, inputs and other requirements. In the simplest way, the fraction of sediment deposit in the reservoir can be determined throug. the knowledg. of its trap efficiency. Trap efficiency (Te) is the proportion of the incoming.sediment that is deposited or trapped in a reservoir. Most of the Te estimation methods define a relationship of the Te of the reservoir to their capacity and annual inflow, g.nerally throug. curves. In this study, the empirical relationships g.ven by Brune and Brown were used and compared for estimating.the trap efficiency of g.bindsag.r Reservoir (Bhakra Dam) on Satluj River in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan reg.on of India. A new set of reg.ession equations has been developed for Brune's method and compared with Brown and other available Brune's equations. It has been found that Brune's equations developed in the present study estimated better than the other Brune's equations reported in literature. Later, in the present study it was found that Brown's approach was over estimating.the Te. Hence it was ag.in modified for g.bindsag.r reservoir. It was also identified that sediments coming.to this particular reservoir were mainly of coarse nature.

The current study investig.tes the behavior of wire electric discharg. machining.（WEDM） of the super alloy Udimet-L605 by employing.sophisticated machine learning.approaches. The experimental work was desig.ed on the basis of the Tag.chi orthog.nal L27 array, consid- ering.six explanatory variables and evaluating.their influ- ences on the cutting.speed, wire wear ratio （WWR）, and dimensional deviation （DD）. A support vector machine （SVM） alg.rithm using.a normalized poly-kernel and a radial-basis flow kernel is recommended for modeling.the wire electric discharg. machining.process. The g.ey rela- tional analysis （g.A） approach was utilized to obtain the optimal combination of process variables simultaneously, providing.the desirable outcome for the cutting.speed, WWR, and DD. Scanning.electron microscope and energ. dispersive X-ray analyses of the samples were performed for the confirmation of the results. An SVM based on the radial-basis kernel model dominated the normalized poly- kernel model. The optimal combination of process vari- ables for a mutually desirable outcome for the cutting.speed, WWR, and DD was determined as Ton1, Toffa, Ip1, WT3, SV1, and WF3. The pulse-on time is the sig.ificant variable influencing.the cutting.speed, WWR, and DD. The larg.st percentag. of copper （8.66%） was observed at the hig.est cutting.speed setting.7.05% of copper at the low of the machine compared to cutting.speed setting.of the machine.

Vermicomposting.is a biotechnolog.cal process that enables the recycling.of org.nic waste materials into manure throug. the combined action of earthworms and mesophilic microorg.nisms. In this study, a 13-week experiment was carried to vermiprocess food industry sludg. mixed with different bedding.materials including.two weeds, water hyacinth and parthenium, as well as cow dung. in different combinations employing.earthworms of the species Eisenia fetida. Eig.t vermibins containing.one kilog.am of the waste mixtures （dry weig.t basis） were established for vermicomposting. Vermiprocessing.sig.ificantly increased nitrog.n, phosphorous, and potassium contents of the mixtures. However, a decrease in pH, org.nic carbon, and C：N ratio was observed after vermiprocessing. The heavy metal contents in the vermicomposts were hig.er than the initial values but within permissible limits. These results indicated that the studied wastes can be converted into g.od quality manure by vermiprocessing. which indicated their ag.icultural values as a soil conditioner if mixed with weeds in appropriate ratios.

Wind erosion is one of the sig.ificant natural calamities worldwide, which deg.ades around one-third of g.obal land. The eroded and suspended soil particles in the environment may cause health hazards, *** and respiratory diseases, due to the presence of harmful contaminants, bacteria, and *** present study evaluates the feasibility of microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation(MICP)technique to mitig.te wind-induced erosion of calcareous desert sand(Thar desert of Rajasthan province in India). The temperature during.biotreatment was kept at 36℃ to stimulate the averag. temperature of the Thar desert. The spray method was used for bioaug.entation of Sporosarcina(S.) pasteurii and further treatment using.chemical solutions. The chemical solution of 0.25 pore volume was sprayed continuously up to 5 d, 10 d, 15 d, and 20 d, using.two different concentration ratios of urea and calcium chloride dihydrate viz 2:1 and 1:1. The biotreated samples were subjected to erosion testing.in the wind tunnel) at different wind speeds of 10 m/s, 20 m/s, and 30 m/s. The unconfined compressive streng.h of the biocemented crust was measured using.a pocket penetrometer. The variation in calcite precipitation and microstructure(including.the presence of crystalline minerals) of untreated as well as biotreated sand samples were determined throug. calcimeter, scanning.electron microscope(SEM), and energ.dispersive X-ray spectroscope(EDX). The results demonstrated that the erosion of untreated sand increases with an increase in wind speeds. When compared to untreated sand, a lower erosion was observed in all biocemented sand samples, irrespective of treatment condition and wind speed. It was observed that the sample treated with 1:1 cementation solution for up to 5 d, was found to effectively resist erosion at a wind speed of 10 m/s. Moreover, a sig.ificant erosion resistance was ascertained in15 d and 20 d treated samples at hig.er wind speeds. The calcite content

Elastodynamic analysis of an anisotropic liquid-saturated porous medium is made to study a deformation problem of a transversely isotropic liquid-saturated porous medium due to mechanical sources. Certain physical problems are of the nature, in which the deformation takes place only in one direction, e.g., the problem relating.to deformed structures and columns. In soil mechanics, an assumption of only vertical subsidence is often invoked and this leads to the one dimensional model of poroelasticity. By consid- ering.a model of one-dimensional deformation of the anisotropic liquid-saturated porous medium, variations in disturbances are observed with reference to time and distance. The distributions of displacements and stresses are affected due to the anisotropy of the medium, and also due to the type of sources causing.the disturbances.
