Background:Accurate quantification of voluntary activation is important for understanding the extent of quadriceps dysfunction in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR).Voluntary activation has been quantified using both percent activation derived from the interpolated twitch technique and central activation ratio(CAR)derived from the burst superimposition technique,as well as by using different types of electrical stimulators and pulse train ***,it is unclear how these parameters affect voluntary activation estimates in individuals with *** study was performed to fill this important knowledge gap in the anterior cruciate ligament ***:Quadriceps strength and voluntary activation were examined in 18 ACLR participants(12 quadriceps/patellartendon graft,6 hamstring tendon graft;time since ACLR:1.06±0.82 years,mean±SD)at 90°of knee flexion using 2 stimulators(Digitimer and Grass)and pulse train conditions(3-pulse and 10-pulse).Voluntary activation was quantified by calculating both CAR and percent ***:Results indicated that voluntary activation was significantly overestimated by CAR when compared with percent activation(p0.05);however,the Digitimer evoked greater torque at rest than the Grass(p<0.001).Conclusion:These results indicate that percent activation derived from the interpolated twitch technique provides superior estimates of voluntary activation than CAR derived from burst superimposition and is less affected by pulse train conditions or stimulators in individuals with ACLR.

Background Drug eluting stents （DESs） made with biodegradable polymer have been developed in an attempt to improve clinical ***,the impact of biodegradable polymers on clinical events and stent thrombosis （ST） remains *** We searched Medline,the Cochrane Library and other internet sources,without language or date restrictions for articles comparing clinical outcomes between biodegradable polymer DES and durable polymer *** endpoints were ST （definite,definite/probable）,mortality,and myocardial infarction （mi）.Efficacy endpoints were major adverse cardiac event （MACE） and target lesion revascularization （TLR）.Results We identified 15 randomized controlled trials （n=17 068） with a weighted mean follow-up of 20.6 *** was no statistical difference in the incidence of definite/probable ST between durable polymer-and biodegradable polymerDES; relative risk （RR） 0.83; 95% confidence interval （CI） 0.62-1.11; P=*** polymer DES had similar rates of definite ST （RR 0.94,95% CI 0.66-1.33,P=0.72）,mortality （RR 0.94,95% C/0.82-1.09,P=0.43）,mi （RR 1.08,95% CI 0.92-1.26.P=0.35）,MACE （RR 0.99,95% CI 0.91-1.09,P=0.85）,and TLR （RR,0.94,95% CI 0.83-1.06,P=0.30） compared with durable polymer *** on the stratified analysis of the included trials,the treatment effect on definite ST was different at different follow-up times：≤1 year favoring durable polymer DES and 〉1 year favoring biodegradable polymer *** Biodegradable polymer DES has similar safety and efficacy for treating patients with coronary artery disease compared with durable polymer *** data with longer term follow-up are warranted to confirm the potential benefits of biodegradable polymer DES.

AIM: To test whether the replication of human rhinovirus(HRV) is regulated by micro RNAs in human bronchial epithelial ***: For the present study, the human cell line BEAS-2B(derived from normal human bronchial epithelial cells) was adopted. DICER knock-down, by si RNA transfection in BEAS-2B cells, was performed in order to inhibit micro RNA maturation globally. Alternatively, antisense oligonucleotides(anti-mi Rs) were transfectedto inhibit the activity of specific micro RNAs. Cells were infected with HRV-1B. Viral replication was assessed by measuring the genomic viral RNA by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR). Association between micro RNA-induced-silencing-complex and viral RNA was detected by Ago2 co-immunoprecipitation followed by RT-q PCR. Targetscan v.6 was used to predict micro RNA target sites on several HRV ***: Here, we show that micro RNAs affect replication of HRV-1B. DICER knock-down significantly reduced the expression of mature micro RNAs in a bronchial epithelial cell line(BEAS-2B) and in turn, increased the synthesis of HRV-1B RNA. Additionally, HRV-1B RNA co-immunoprecipitated with argonaute 2 protein, an important effector for micro RNA activity suggesting that micro RNAs bind to viral RNA during infection. In order to identify specific micro RNAs involved in this interaction, we employed bioinformatics analysis, and selected a group of micro RNAs that have been reported to be under-expressed in asthmatic bronchial epithelial cells and were predicted to target different strains of rhinoviruses(HRV-1B,-16,-14,-27). Our results suggest that, out of this group of micro RNAs, mi R-128 and mi R-155 contribute to the innate defense against HRV-1B: transfection of specific anti-mi Rs increased viral replication, as anticipated ***: Taken together, our results suggest that pathological changes in micro RNA expression, as already reported for asthma or chronic obstructive pulmona

The aim of this study was to evaluate the genotoxicity induced by cyclophosphamide-adriamycin treatment in breast cancer patients through the frequencies of Sister Chromatid Exchange (SCE), Replication Index (RI), mitotic Index (mi) and Cell Proliferation Index (CPI) and to study the possible association between biomarkers of genotoxicity and the early response to treatment. The frequencies were obtained before and immediately after therapy from 17 patients with breast cancer (p mission. mi and CPI had high values after treatment in women with active cancers compared to those in a state of remission, however there were not significant differences. Conclusions: It is possible that mi y CPI biomarkers can serve as indicators for early assessment of treatment with cyclophosphamide-adriamycin. It should be noted that these are preliminary results and further study is necessary.

目的:探讨N-甲基-D-天冬氨酸(N-methyl-D-aspartate, NMDA)受体GluN2B亚基(GluN2B-NMDA受体)的负向变构剂艾芬地尔(ifenprodil)对大鼠蛛网膜下腔出血(subarachnoid hemorrhage, SAH)后神经功能缺损、血脑屏障通透性、脑水肿及皮质细胞凋亡的影响。方法:选取成年健康雄性SD大鼠90只,分为假手术组(n=18)、SAH+安慰剂组(n=36)和SAH+ifenprodil组(n=36),通过血管内穿刺法建立SAH模型。在建模后2、24和48 h,腹腔注射安慰剂或ifenprodil。在建模后72 h,garcia评分标准评价神经缺损,脑干湿重法检测脑水肿,伊文思蓝(Evans blue)法检测血脑屏障通透性,TUNEL染色检测皮质细胞凋亡,Western blot法检测凋亡信号分子的表达。结果:与假手术组比较,SAH+安慰剂组的神经功能评分降低,脑组织含水率增加,伊文思蓝有显著溢出,TUNEL阳性细胞数显著增多、Bcl-2的表达减弱,Bax及activated caspase-9/3的表达增强(P<0.05);与SAH+安慰剂组相比,SAH+ifenprodil组神经功能评分升高,脑组织含水率降低,伊文思蓝溢出量降低,TUNEL阳性细胞减少,Bcl-2的表达增加,Bax及activated caspase-9/3表达减少(P<0.05)。结论:ifenprodil能够减轻SAH后神经功能缺损和脑水肿,降低血脑屏障的通透性,减少皮质区细胞凋亡。
