Wood-based hydrogel with a unique anisotropic structure is an attractive soft material,but the presence of rigid crystalline cellulose in natural wood makes the hydrogel less flexible.In this study,an all-wood hydrogel was constructed by cross-linking cellulose fibers,polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)chains,and lignin molecules through the Hofmeister effect.The all-wood hydrogel shows a high tensile strength of 36.5 MPa and a strain up to~438%in the longitudinal direction,which is much higher than its tensile strength(~2.6 MPa)and strain(~198%)in the radial direction,respectively.The high mechanical strength of all-wood hydrogels is mainly attributed to the strong hydrogen bonding,physical entanglement,and van der Waals forces between lignin molecules,cellulose nanofibers,and PVA chains.Thanks to its excellent flexibility,good conductivity,and sensitivity,the all-wood hydrogel can accurately distinguish diverse macroscale or subtle human movements,including finger flexion,pulse,and swallowing behavior.In particular,when“An Qi”was called four times within 15 s,two variations of the pronunciation could be identified.With recyclable,biodegradable,and adjustable mechanical properties,the all-wood hydrogel is a multifunctional soft material with promising applications,such as human motion monitoring,tissue engineering,and robotics materials.

Building a trading market can promote energy conservation provided that the trading method is deter- mined. Energy consumption for heat supply is huge. Tianjin Municipal Government is planning to establish an energy efficiency trading platform for district heating taking into consideration the experience in carbon trading market and specific situation in Tianjin. This paper presented an in-depth analysis of the district heating industry in Tianjin municipality, and identified the potentials of energy saving and carbon dioxide emissions reduction. Since energy efficiency was closely related to different heating source technologies, baselines were determined for boiler plants and thermal power plants respectively. Three scenarios were discussed for baseline determination. 472 boiler plants were surveyed and operational data relating to energy consumption were collected. Through data analysis, 27 boiler plants which have reasonable recorded energy consumption values were chosen as samples. By analyzing the dataset and referring to the related standards, method of determining the baseline for district heating carbon market was established. Finxally, the baseline for boiler plant was determined to be 52.0 kgce/GJ, and that for thermal power plant was 43.0 kgce/GJ in 2011. Carbon abatement against the baselines above was calculated and considerable carbon dioxide emissions reduction could be achieved.

In this paper, a quantitative life cycle model for carbon emission accounting was developed based on the life cycle assessment （LCA） theory. A residential building in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city （Tianjin, China） was selected as a sample, which had been constructed according to the concept of green environmental protection and sustainable development. In the scenario of this research, material production, construction, use and maintenance, and demolition phases were assessed by building carbon emission models. Results show that use and maintenance phase and material production phase are the most significant contributors to the life cycle carbon emissions of a building. We also analyzed some factor influences in LCA, including the thickness of the insulating layer and the length of building service life. The analysis suggest that thicker insulating layer does not necessarily produce less carbon emissions in the light of LCA, and if service life of a building increases, its carbon emissions during the whole life cycle will rise as well but its unit carbon emission will decrease inversely. Some advices on controlling carbon emissions from buildings are also provided.

Pores and fractures are important components of flow channels in coal-measure gas reservoirs.While considerable studies have been conducted on pore structure evolution,very few studies have investigated the fracture distribution and self-similarity characteristics.To reveal the characteristics of fracture distribution in coal and shale reservoirs,computed tomography studies were performed on 15 coal and shale samples from the Shanxi and Taiyuan formations.The results show that the fracture distribution of samples of the same lithology differs significantly,and the fracture distribution heterogeneity of shale samples is much higher than that of coal samples.In shale,the heterogeneity of fracture distribution is mainly caused by pores and fractures smaller than 2μm in the z-direction,with relatively little contributions from pores and fractures in the x and y directions.However,the heterogeneity of fracture distribution in coal is mainly controlled by pores and fractures larger than 2μm in all directions,and the difference between the three directions is minor.It was shown that a great number of microscopic pores and fractures contribute to the highest fractions of porosity in different lithological samples.This method is useful for determining the fracture distribution characteristics in shale and coal-measure gas reservoir.

The development of novel theranostic agents with outstanding diagnostic and therapeutic performances is still strongly desired in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Here,a fucoidan-modified mesoporous polydopamine nanoparticle dual-loaded with gadolinium iron and doxorubicin(FMPDA/Gd^(3+)/DOX)was prepared as an effective theranostic agent for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)-guided chemo-photothermal therapy of HCC.It was found that FMPDA/Gd^(3+)/DOX had a high photothermal conversion efficiency of 33.4%and excellent T1-MRI performance with a longitudinal relaxivity(r1)value of 14.966 m M^(-1)·s^(-1).Moreover,the results suggested that FMPDA/Gd^(3+)/DOX could effectively accumulate into the tumor foci by dual-targeting the tumor-infiltrated platelets and HCC cells,which resulted from the specific interaction between fucoidan and overexpressed p-selectin receptors.The excellent tumor-homing ability and MRI-guided chemo-photothermal therapy therefore endowed FMPDA/Gd^(3+)/DOX with a strongest ability to inhibit tumor growth than the respective single treatment modality.Overall,our study demonstrated that FMPDA/Gd^(3+)/DOX could be applied as a potential nanoplatform for safe and effective cancer theranostics.
