A generalizable, data-driven online approach to forecast capacity degradation trajectory of lithium batteries

Estimating battery degradation is vital not only to monitor battery’s state-of-health but also to accelerate research on new battery chemistries. Herein, we present a data-driven approach to forecast the capacity fading trajectory of lab-assembled lithium batteries. Features with physical meanings in addition to predictive abilities are extracted from discharge voltage curves, enabling online prediction for a single cell with only its historical data. The robustness and generalizability allow for the demonstration on a compromised quality dataset consisting of batteries varying in battery architectures and cycling conditions,with superior accuracy for end of life and degradation trajectory prediction with average errors of 8.2%and 2.8%, respectively. Apart from the impressive prediction accuracy, the as-extracted features also provide physical insights, the incorporation of which into material design or battery operation conditions further enlightens the development of better batteries. We highlight the effectiveness of time-seriesbased techniques in forecasting battery cycling performance, as well as the huge potential of datadriven methods in unveiling hidden correlations in complicated energy chemistries such as lithium metal batteries.

Observation of acoustic hybrid topological phases induced by the p-d orbital interactions

In spinless systems,growing attention has recently been attracted to synthetic gauge fields,which redefine the fundamental crystal symmetries by utilizing the projective algebraic ***,synthetic gauge fields have been commonly investigated in single orbital systems,and explorations on hybrid orbitals remain elusive in ***,we report the experimental observation of hybrid topological phases induced by hybrid synthetic gauge flux,which is formed by the interaction between p and d orbitals embedded in acoustic *** breaking the translation symmetries of Lxand/or Ly,we unambiguously demonstrate the first-order M?bius edge states and higher-order corner *** work establishes a platform for seeking exotic topological phases induced by hybrid-orbitals interactions and initializing the framework of hybrid-orbitalsrelated topological *** applications can be anticipated in scenarios such as high-quality sensing and robust wave trapping due to the stepwise energy distribution of the hybrid topological phase.

Construction of shRNA of Fulminant Hepatitis Related Gene mfgl2 and Investigation of Its Biological Effects in vitro

This study was designed to explore the RNA interference technique in inhibition of the expression of the mouse fibrinogen like protein 2(mfgl2),which has been reported to be involved in the development a variety of diseases including fulminant viral hepatitis.A plasmid named p-mfgl2shRNA,complementary to the sequence of mfgl2 was constructed,while another short hairpin RNA(shRNA) which was a mutated form of the mfgl2shRNA sequences was used as a control.A plasmid named pEGFP-mfgl2 expressing the mfgl2-EGFP fusion protein was also constructed for the screening of the effect of p-mfgl2shRNA on mfgl2 *** cotransfection of p-mfgl2shRNA and pEGFP-mfgl2 or pcDNA3.1-mfgl2 expression construct into CHO cells or HeLa cells,the inhibition of mfgl2 expression by mfgl2shRNA was analyzed by direct observation through fluorescent microscopy,FACS,RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry *** experiments showed the significant inhibitory effect of p-mfgl2shRNA on mfgl2 expression at 48h post-transfection in both CHO and Hela cell lines with the inhibitory efficiency as high as 80.1%.The study demonstrated that the construct of p-mfgl2shRNA successfully interfered with the mfgl2 expression in vitro.

Low-cost and fluoride-free synthesis of MFI zeolite nanosheets with enhanced stability for benzene alkylation with ethanol

Zeolite nanosheets with a short b-axis thickness are highly desirable in lots of catalytic reactions due to their reduced diffusion resistance. Nevertheless, conventional synthesis methods usually require expensive structure-directing agents(SDAs), pricey raw materials, and eco-unfriendly fluorine-containing additives. Here, we contributed a cost-effective and fluoride-free synthesis method for synthesizing high-quality MFI zeolite nanosheets through a Silicalite-1(Sil-1) seed suspension and urea cooperative strategy, only with inexpensive colloidal silica as the Si source. Our approach was effective for synthesizing both Sil-1 and aluminum-containing ZSM-5 nanosheets. By optimizing key synthesis parameters,including seed aging time, seed quantity, and urea concentration, we achieved precise control over the crystal face aspect ratio and b-axis thickness. We also revealed a non-classical oriented nanosheet growth mechanism, where Sil-1 seeds induced the formation of quasi-ordered precursor particles, and the(010)crystal planes of these particles facilitated urea adsorption, thereby promoting c-axis-oriented *** obtained ZSM-5 nanosheets exhibited exceptional catalytic performance in the benzene alkylation with ethanol, maintaining stability for over 500 h, which is 5 times longer than traditional ZSM-5 catalysts. Furthermore, large-scale production of ZSM-5 nanosheets was successfully carried out in a 3 L highpressure autoclave, yielding samples consistent with those from laboratory-scale synthesis. This work marks a significant step forward in the sustainable and efficient production of MFI nanosheets using inexpensive and environmentally friendly raw materials, offering the broad applicability in catalysis.

All-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries （ASSLSBs） afford a novel avenue for next-generation high energy density lithium–sulfur batteries due to the alleviated potential safety hazards. However, ASSLSBs suffer from high interfacial impedance and poor kinetics of electrochemical reactions. A biconnected ion/electron contact is the precondition for sulfur conversion in an ASSLSB cell. In a working sulfur cathode, the quality of electron transfer has an equally profound influence in the electrochemical evolution of sulfur in comparison to ion migration for high-efficient sulfur conversion.

Modification of Maxwell model for conductivity prediction of carbon nanotubes-filled polymer composites with tunneling effect

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have garnered great attention in recent years due to their outstanding electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The incorporation of small amounts of CNTs in polymers can substantially improve the sensitivity of the polymer's electrical conductivity. This paper presents a modified Maxwell model to evaluate the electrical conductivity of CNTs-filled polymer composites by introducing a transition zone to account for the tunneling effect. In this modified Maxwell model, the CNTs-filled polymer composite is modeled as a three-phase composite, consisting of a matrix(polymer), inclusions(CNTs), and a transition zone(tunneling zone). The effective electrical conductivity(EEC) of the composite is calculated based on the volume fractions and electrical conductivities of the matrix, inclusions, and transition zone. The model's validity is confirmed through the use of available test data, which demonstrates its capability to accurately capture the nonlinear conductivity behavior observed in CNTs-polymer composites. This study offers valuable insights into the design of high-performance conductive polymer nanocomposites, and enhances the understanding of electrical conduction mechanisms in CNT-dispersed polymer composites.

Impacts of the annual cycle of background SST in the tropical Pacific on the phase and amplitude of ENSO

The dominant annual cycle of sea surface temperature(SST)in the tropical Pacific exhibits an antisymmetric mode,which explains 83.4%total variance,and serves as a background of El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).However,there is no consensus yet on its anomalous impacts on the phase and amplitude of *** on data during 1982-2022,results show that anomalies of the antisymmetric mode can affect the evolution of ENSO on the interannual scale via Bjerknes feedback,in which the positive(negative)phase of the antisymmetric mode can strengthen El Niño(La Niña)in boreal winter via an earlier(delayed)seasonal cycle transition and larger(smaller)annual *** magnitude of the SST anomalies in the equatorial eastern Pacific can reach more than±0.3◦C,regulated by the changes in the antisymmetric mode based on random sensitivity *** reveal the spatial pattern of the annual cycle associated with the seasonal phase-locking of ENSO evolution and provide new insight into the impact of the annual cycle of background SST on ENSO,which possibly carries important implications for forecasting ENSO.
